This is great stuff. I totally want my own Chai-bot. As an aside, your videos have come a long way from the days when you were always eating candy in every video and your lips didn’t move. Great stuff, and I could watch this all day.
Came to the comments to ask this. I'm sure someone will build and sell these eventually but damn I want one now. Plus I'm sure a consumer version will be just as locked down as chat gpt.
@Jabrils Wow, you are awesome, man! I love your work and I just subscribed! I'm also very interested in how you made this happen, please keep us posted. And I have a crazy question: How hard would it be to run this on an Android phone? I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 and I wonder if I could use Tasker to make this AI my personal assistant, instead of Google, Bixby or Alexa. Wouldn't that be cool? Sorry for the long comment, but I'm really excited. Cheers and keep rocking!
Chi looks suspiciously like Colin Furze with the tie. lol. Very inspirational video. Great job. Whoever doesn't watch till the end needs to suffer Chi's fate.
so is the AI part running local on the raspberry pi? honestly just like the idea of that kind of system not phoning home every time I ask the dumbest questions that have ever been asked.
I don't think the pi has good enough hardware to keep up with the demand of local models. Pretty sure he ported over that script from the beginning which likely just connects to OpenAi's APIs. I think the closest you'll get to local on a pi (quality wise) is running a model on a tower in your house, and connecting to that from other devices by opening up to the LAN.
@@kilospade The pi can run some LLMs locally, I see a lot of llama based stuff specifically. The pi (at least the 8gb version) can handle a LLM with 7B connections which is relatively small needing around 6gb of ram to operate. The amount of ram is really the deciding factor in how well a LLM can do.
@@Bp1033 Agreed, it can run the models, and it can be done sure. But in terms of having a fluid assistant that doesn't take over 30 seconds to respond, you'd have to go pretty low parameters. I think the quality would just all around be better if you ran the model on a capable cuda device. Either that, or maybe generate the tts after each sentence is generated? Might be a bit jank, as LLMs use tokens.
I was searching TH-cam for random videos about AI and found this…was not expecting this! Funny, smart, amazing!!! You have a new sub. OMG, I love Chai and now I want to watch ALL of your videos!
I feel like given the number of humans in this simulation, vs. the number of sims to ever have existed, there's probably high chance that there's more instances of peeing in the kitchen in the 'real' world than in the Sims.

Neat. I hadn’t considered how easily you could substitute AI for real people. I mean all the stuff that you’d talk about with a friend for fun, but also just because you thought about and want a comment. That stuff is supposed to ground you. An AI does not have to do that.
@jabrils The CPU is probably being downclocked because of the low voltage warning. The battery bank you have it connected to might not put out enough current to prevent the voltage rail from sagging. I would get a higher current output battery and a boost converter and set it to output 5.1v in between the battery and the pi. Splice a cable. I figured you were just using a battery bank you had laying around! Glad to see you making another video, i just realized I wasn't subscribed... Whoops!
@@Jabrils I'm an EE that works mainly in software with a PE in power. All over the place. I've had hell getting the power on my rpi4 to work for my infotainment display. Give it the juice! But if you really wanna help speed up the model : You could also look into getting a GSM module for cell data and encoding/compressing the data between the pi and a server running Ollama with a beefy GPU. Then you can toss the dolphin model Fireship posted about on YT a few weeks back and really ask some terrible questions! Edit: use the wifi hotspot on your phone. Cheaper and easier to setup.

If sharks grew legs, I'd stay away from the ocean because they would dry up if they stayed out of water for too long.

If sharks grew legs how well would they be able to balance themselves... I get wobbly when I come out of the ocean so how would a shark react.
