    I have an utmost respect for cheetahs 🐆 and as a Mother. Raising them alone with only speed over short distances. She doesn’t have the lung capacity to be a distance runner. She raises her cubs totally alone and has to worry about not only dinner but her cubs who stay back while she chases down food. 90% of Cheetah cubs don’t make it to adulthood.
    Wild dogs don’t have speed but have distance running on their side.
    Cheetahs must eat fast or their kills are stolen by any other predator.
    Leopards are solitary mothers but are bigger than cheetahs.
    I’m impressed by their style and efficiency! Go cheetahs! 🐆
    Jaguar car company should rename their cars Cheetahs!

      They actually eat a wider range of prey than we once though. Rats, porcupines, ostriches, frogs, lizards, young baboons, rabbits, bird eggs, the calves of Cape buffalo and giraffes, livestock, even (very rarely) carrion.
      Ever since they were reintroduced to India, cheetahs have since begun hunting chital deer, sambar deer, Nilgai antelope, and black buck. Black bucks were the principal prey of cheetahs in India prior to their numbers dropping from sport hunting. As their prey disappeared, the cats died off, as they did in other parts of Asia including Oman.

    That Gazelle ain't no slouch when it comes to running either. I have pigeons who fly as fast as 80 miles per hour for dozens of miles, even scores of miles. Going from zero to fifty in like three seconds, then fifty to eighty in another four or five seconds. How you like those apples, cheetah?

    • @morrisheinersz2005
      @morrisheinersz2005 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the African Lion can run about fifty miles per hour for around two hundred meters. With that three hundred pounds+ weight, that is an impressive thing. Imagine a 250 lioness creaming you at 40+ mp/h while setting it's hooks into your hide and it's fangs into your neck ? Your spinal cord will be destroyed just from the negative acceleration as Ms Lion brings your velocity to a manageable number. Game Over.

      Thomson's gazelles are hunted by virtually EVERY predator around, from big cats, jackals, baboons and pythons to eagles, crocodiles, and even humans. Even their horns are not enough to protect them from attack so they gotta be fast, alert, and above all, they've gotta be smart to stay alive.

    • @cynofeliswildlife9967
      @cynofeliswildlife9967 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@CoreyMillionaire2029 actually, gazelles are only main target of cheetahs, jackals are mainly fawn killers. Lions, heynas, leopards, wild dogs, crocodiles etc prefer wildebeest, zebra, kudu and impala more. Babbons are only casual fawn killers. Pythons don't have any prey preference, they eat anything that they can catch. Eagles praying on fawns is very rare.

    Hard to say whether the cheetah should really be considered an "apex predator" since it is predated on especially by other larger cat species, lions most particularly, and its kills are often stolen by others. But a predator it certainly is, skillful and surviving and flourishing for so long until human destruction of its natural habitats now endanger it.

    • @buffFrank195
      @buffFrank195 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure adult cheetahs they're talking about and you're wrong about lions eating adult cheetahs, adult cheetahs have absolutely no predators at all except they rarely get killed by lions for competition when I mean rarely I mean it like probably 5% but most lions wouldn't go to kill a cheetah they know they have much more speed and it would be waste of energy

    • @buffFrank195
      @buffFrank195 ปีที่แล้ว

      So adult cheetahs have no predators making it ok for the term apex

    • @galanis38
      @galanis38 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@buffFrank195 You're right, I think, in that lions do not prey on adult cheetahs at least for food. We know that adult cheetahs have the speed to escape any lion attack in most cases. But lions and other predators, hyenas and leopards for example, do prey on cheetah cubs which cheetah mothers are hard put to defend; by some estimates up to 90% of cheetah cubs don't survive to adulthood due to predators, though I suspect this figure is a bit exaggerated. In any case, though the cheetah is a highly successful hunter, it is the smallest of the "big cats" and has never been at the top of the hierarchy of apex predators, though it has survived and flourished over history and now is endangered chiefly by human-induced habitat loss.
