- During the college football game between Florida State and NC State, Florida State got too aggressive in the final seconds and threw a bad interception in the corner of the end zone to ruin any chance at winning the game. The Seminoles were nearly in the red zone and only needed a field goal to take the lead.

Except WRs only come down with “50-50” balls about 18% of the time. It’s the riskiest play in football that teams run regularly

I think the call was fine. The DB covered the receiver well, the QB panicked and threw it too far inside. The DB actually claims that he read Jimbo's lips and knew where the ball was going!

Yes but he thought Pittman was gonna go out towards TBE side of the end zone but he went in cause the db was in outside coverage and JT had a bit of miscommunication and he threw the ball into dbs hands if he would have ran route correctly it might have been caught or incomplete which would give us more time to run different plays

Looks like miscommunication between the qb and receiver. Receiver ran an inside post and qb threw it as if it was an outside post
Outside post? Is that even a real route? He was running a slot fade / slice route but wasn’t physical enough.
Post is inside, to the goal post. Anything outside is a fade/flag/corner route depending on the actual route pattern or verbage.

NC State had only one timeout. So if you're Florida State it's simple: just do a running a play, get some more yardage to set up the FG, NC State takes their last timeout between 2nd and 3rd down, do another running play, let the clock run to near-zero, then kick the FG with little or no time for a Hail Mary after the kickoff. This just made no sense at all.

It's second down. 8 yards to go. and 44 seconds left. Running the clock out would take all 44 seconds off the clock in two plays, second and third down, leaving it at 4th and 4 assuming the runs go for 2 each, which is a pretty safe bet. Assuming they NC State calls their final timeout, it's 3rd and 6. Run once more, burn the clock off, and it's 4th and 4. That's great, because it's a 2 point game and you're in intermediate Field Goal range. You call a time out with 2 seconds left. Your kicker trots out and nails the 35 yarder. You win. Except that's not what you do. Your play call is a 50/50 fade to a DB who has outside leverage. Great call.

TAMU wasn’t even bad really. Receiver didn’t run the route far enough, qb stared him down and threw it too late. Can’t run the ball because he was too far, can’t throw a slant with the way the defense was set up. It’s either 50/50 sideline out routes, 50/50 hook routes, or a 50/50 fade. Not much else they could do just bad execution

I was there. After the game my friend and I got gloves from some of the players. I can’t even describe the hype and how much the stadium was shaking. It was amazing.

Two WR's open for easy 8 yard gains, one could've gotten out of bounds, then you got 3rd and 2 and an easier FG kick if NC State stuffs the run. Shocking decision making and play calling.
They had run like 4 run plays before that and I thought "I guess they don't trust the QB and want the W" ... Then this happened.

The defense remembered that TD pass earlier in the game and wasn't going to be beat again. 4 wins 2 losses is better than I thought we would be through 6 games. Players have to make plays and there was Way too many Left on the field.

Say what you want about the play call, but this is what happens when you don’t have a reliable kicker. If Norvell had faith in Fitzgerald, he runs 3 times to set up a chip shot. However, since Fitz has had trouble with even extra points, he was backed into a corner and had to go for the TD. Plus for anyone who says that he made one earlier in the game, watch this drive when they get inside the 20. They cut to Fitz on the sideline, and he looked absolutely terrified at the thought of the game coming down to him.

If the excuse is “the kicker is unreliable” you can literally get a soccer player trained up in a week to hit a flippin 35 yard field goal. Zero reason for a major power 5 team to not be playing for a game WINNING (not tying field goal here). That said, the kid MADE a longer field goal to end the half. Passing the ball in this situation is a fireable offense.
The WR misread the defense. He turned into coverage (the safety) instead of to the corner. QB threw to the correct spot.
The game is literally over. Run run field goal. Kicker hits it 90% of the time from that distance. Zero reason to ever throw in this situation.
