The world was a better place because people like Terry Jones existed - a man whose time was spent finding new ideas, making people laugh and researching the arts (medieval literature in particular). I wish to thank him for making my life a more joyful one because of his writing and acting in Monty Python. Condolences to Terry Jones's family and friends.
No he´s not dead. Just saw him on my Flying Circus DVD. But seriously: his work will remain, but he will be missed mostly by his Family. I want to offer my sincere condolences to them. We miss a friend in Comedy, but they lost a Father and a Partner.
I must break with stride here to comment. The world is a different place now. That man was The Best. What some of the most creative, imaginative, and daring have been to painting, sculpture, and music, so has that man been to comedy, drama; in television, motion pictures, books, and documentaries. Amazing!!! RIP
What a nice and generous man he was. Always doing his best to put everyone at ease, and always willing to give of his time and live up to people's expectations of him.

When I listen to Terry Jones speaking History, I sense the excitement and interest in his voice and manner and it's refreshing. History is a fascinating subject. It's unfortunate to way too many students it's been reduced to remembering dates.
You'd be surprised, at least in my open university course. It's a lot more about analysing primary sources and using secondary sources to interpret your own history. And a lot of the new studies such as racial integration and gender or sexuality in history that are being studied now is akin to how Jones talks in a revisionist way about barbarians and civilised society. We're always trying to question our preconceived notions and all that :)
Such a lovely, warm and funny man and so intelligent and knowledgeable about history! A sad, sad loss and his death has hit me harder than I ever imagined! 😢 God bless you Terry, we all love and miss you xxx💔
Terry Jones. A modern day Renaissance Man. Historian, director, actor, author, comedian, poet, brewer and musician. Most would be satisfied with success in any one of those categories but Terry was successful at ALL of them. I wish the best for his family and loved ones at this difficult time.
In the last few years, watching all this brilliance we see here fade away must have been excruciating for his family and friends. I hope they find some comfort knowing he will always make us laugh and is continuously teaching us new ways to see the world around us.

You're right, Terry Jones was not the Messiah, {close though!} He was a naughty boy, and a naked organist! As others have voiced, he will be missed, but he and Graham am sure will be having a few giggles and grins together while reminiscing, and keeping watchful vigil over TG, EI, JC & MP. R.I.P. Terry.
Terry J just played the right kind of woman the right kind of way. It's a measure of his brilliance that Terry's passing has yielded such a wealth of tribute and praise. As I've said elsewhere, if forced to quantify my love for Terry, I'd say three. Rather a lot, really.
I have to say, I thought the Python 50th live shows were a waste of time and a lazy cash grab. (Terry Gilliam thought so, too.) They still are. But they shine out now as never before because they were Terry Jones's last performances. They are treasures as a result. The world just got a lot less silly because of his passing. A legend. A genius. A nude man at an organ. RIP.
Whilst some Pythons were possibly more pleased to be there than others, they were brilliant from a production point of view. Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones, and Eric Idle were arguably the most 'in character' i.e. messing up lines for contemporary comedy effect wasn't an aim of theirs. The sets and costumes were painstakingly true to the 1970s, with modern interludes. Eric Idle did a great job planning much of the content. Along with Gilliam, Jones arguably appeared to have the most enigmatic gravitas of the group, judging from the live shows, and he did give an aura of being a true Renaissance Man. He wrote the early script for the movie Labyrinth too.
I recently gave a much younger fellow employee a DVD of Holy Grail. He remembered most of the lines from the movie. He was amazed that I could also perform most of the voices. "How can you do that?", he asked. I have viewed the movie more times than you know!
I mean this with all due respect to Terry, but you can sadly start to see the early signs of what was to come as early at this 2009 interview where he gets a bit tongue tied at 5:21. Sure, it's minor, but it became more frequent and by 2012 it became quite noticeable. The decline was quite steep from 2012 until 2016 whereby his vocabulary became more and more limited and remembering/searching for even basic words became very difficult for him. It's especially painful to watch the sharp decline in his speech from interviews from late 2013 until summer 2015 (August 2015 being some of his last full length interviews promoting his new movie that he had been directing). He stopped speaking publicly in 2016 and privately shortly thereafter. Very sad. RIP Terry. You were a kind, brilliant, hilarious and wonderful man.

Its too bad the python reunion show didn't happen in this year because you can see that he's still pretty sharp. I've seen interviews with many people who worked with the pythons who said he was the most affable and generous one of the lot, but in any case, the main thing I didn't like about life of brian was that he directed it and so wasn't in it much. A little less so with Grail, but meaning of life as well. It would have been something like "Life of Ahmed" about a man who lived in the time and place of Mohammad and was mistaken for being the prophet (original idea title "Mohammad - Lust for Glory").
Does this "Mohammed" character practice Witchcraft, focusing on the Craft of "causing Dementia to set, in, years, in advance, for the good of the Country", so as Mohammed can sieze the Craftee's Liver, whilst said Liver is within it's "Devour, by" Date? I thought so.
