- Welcome to a the first episode in my NEW Modern Farmhouse Makeover Series at my brothers farmhouse in Montana! This kids bedroom makeover is for 4 boys (my nephews) who all share one bedroom, so I had to get creative with the furniture & organization solutions in the space. I've been so excited to share this insane transformation with you & the incredible before & after in the space. We incorporated a triple bunk bed, diy closet built in, diy barn door, simple dresser solution & more! I am so glad you did this because I am doing a similar style room for my daughter and son shared room! Seeing it come together was AMAZING!!!! I honestly think the best tip you have was making the curtain rod system! I will be doing this in our new home once it is built. Blind nowadays cost on avg for a decent once that won’t crack are $40 for 34*72in a piece. If you have 10+ windows, it is expensive. It is even more costly if you have a large 100+in wide window for blinds. In our last home we spent $450 for nine windows and it was cheaper three years ago. Now, it would cost us another $150 just for the nine and we will have 13 this time.
So curtains are the CHEAPEST option one can do! Never didn’t think to use the leather straps as “brackets” for the curtain rods.

The 5 cube storage system for the closet was genius! One would never know!!!we may do this for our master to add more cubes instead of having to buy the IKEA Pax.

@@ThisCrazyLife I literally just added the straps to my Amazon cart. I think I missed in the video where did you get the rods? Are they just pipes? If so are these cheaper than the actual curtain rods?
Thanks for helping me find the grid sheets too! They have matching baskets “grid white/black storage cubes “ at Target if some want to match them.
Those are what started my vision and you literally pulled it all together!

@@comoelitamelendez8467 they used pipes... but you can use dowels (there are some on amazon... but the best deal is to get some at Home Depot) you can use wooden dowels, metal pipe, or pvc pipe and just paint your desired option to the color you want!

I’ve got 4 siblings; oddly enough our family dynamic is the exact opposite of them, by which I mean they have 4 boys and 1 girl and ours is 4 girls and 1 boy

Yes so true! And yup! The youngest two will be in the bottom bed together. They have such a sweet relationship & are so excited to have a bed together💕

This makeover is INCREDIBLE!!! Somehow you took it from a crowded room with little floor space & clothing storage to a wide open floor space, sunshine pouring in every window, tons of storage for clothing plus each child’s personal items, and a four in one bed! I don’t know how you came up with that but you are AMAZING!

I think it is awesome to make each kid feel like they have their own space. So important when room sharing
I liked how the room reflects the personality of each child and yet has a flow of calmness and has lots of storage space .
Former real estate photographer here- try panning the room a little slower. Like almost to the point where you think it’s too slow Lol. When the pans are too fast, the viewer just gets a broad overview of what they saw. Like maybe a bed and a window. But when the pan is slow, the viewers have more time to take in what they are seeing, like the bedding, curtains, curtain rod, etc. My pans used to be about 7-9 seconds long and the first and last second or two was lost to any transition filter I used (i.e. fades). There are a lot of real estate walkthrough videos on YT to get inspo for. But the room turned out amazing. 😍 They are so lucky to have you!!

This would be perfect for my boys when they are older! I love the giant cube organizer.
I feel like there's very little room between the bunks in the bed, maybe thinner mattresses would be better? The railing on the middle and top bunks are probably supposed to prevent you from falling out, but with the big mattresses they only barely reach the top of the mattress and offer no protection at all 🤷

Me too. Another area to revisit as well is the curtain rod. Won't the kids be able to pull the rod out while playing/pulling the curtains?

These makeovers are just so perfect. You have shown that we don't need giant bedrooms to store things in. This room turned out organized and perfectly function while still being kid friendly.

I love how each child has his own space for clothing. My daughters share a room and I got some great ideas how to make their room more functional.

A 3 bunk bed is a must when you have a lot of kids sharing a room!
if there house is the size they show in the intro... why are the rooms so small?
The bottom is unfinished and will be able to add more bedrooms on that level as the budget permits
What a great space for the boys !!! They each have their own area, but in such a neat space. I know that they really loved it. My boys shared a bedroom when they were younger. The farmhouse is beautiful !!! Boys are only in their room to sleep anyway. Playing outside is more fun !!!
I have never seen a triple bunk bed. How handy! You did a great job making sure everything was functional for all of them while still leaving plenty of room for them to all play and be boys!

Cube storage shelves are life!! I am so glad that I am not alone in my love for how functional they are. And I agree...the style and design of cube storage shelves have come a LONG way! The individualized cube space for each of your nephews is a great way to give them something their very own in a shared room. I absolutely loved the clips that label the bins, as well. Great job!

Have they built a house with just 3 bedrooms? I’m not meaning to be rude. I watch a lot of different TH-cam channels and It always seems that Americans value living space, ie big kitchens, play rooms and living rooms over space/number of bedrooms.
They’re planning to add onto their home in the future. But their dream is to be out in the country on their farm, so this is what their budget to build at the moment was ♥️ their home is actually super cozy!
@@ThisCrazyLife makes total sense! I suppose in an ideal word all kids would have their own room but it’s not always possible. My step kids share a room when they stay with us and we have had to get creative with the space. Most uk homes have one big bedroom and then the rest are a lot smaller. We often call the smallest room a box room! You can just about fit a bed in them x
@@carolinebrown6865 I shared a room with my brothers for the longest time, because bedrooms are just for sleeping for us. Now that I'm am adult with my own kid, her room is literally just a bed and clothing 😂 our neighbor's kid's room has all of their toys and a TV and that just stresses me out lol. I'm super interested to see if my girl decides she wants a TV in her room or move her toys to her room (we store all of her toys, games, and art supplies in our TV stand. It used to be a huge dresser)
@@LI22IEEE it’s very interesting how we view bedrooms. Our bedrooms are our personal places. The kids have it decorated how they want it and they have all their toys and bits and pieces in there. None of their belongings are anywhere else in the house. They can do what they want in their room. I go in every so often and give it a momma clean! I don’t believe in TVs in bedrooms full stop we don’t even have one in our bedroom. I have noticed a lot of people in the states have playrooms. That’s not something that’s very common over here. X
@@carolinebrown6865 yeah, I love reading how other people use their spaces. I spend a LOT of time in my kitchen, usually with youtube playing on my living room TV (the only TV in our house). I love baking so much, so I'm usually baking away lol. If I could have a house where the kitchen was half of the floor plan, I honestly would consider it 😂 then my daughter does love to decorate her room. She's recently discovered posters are a thing (she's 5 haha) so she has a Frozen poster and a couple unicorn ones haha. We've asked her if she wants her toys in her room, but she says if her toys were in her room, she'd miss us. It'd be easier if our home didn't have so many floors. But yeah, our only real rule for her room is no TV. I have never had one in my room, and I honestly don't know how people ever sleep if there's a TV in there 😂
I know no one's saying it, because your video is so special and you're doing such a nice thing for the family, but I expect people who are watching this video are wondering why in the world if they knew were going to have to fit *four* boys in this little room, they took up once whole wall with a giant window. Unusable space in an already space-deprived room.
They’re hoping to add onto their house in the future. But they made sure to leave a space for a queen size bed between the two windows and the opposite wall is totally open. 💕 It’s honestly such a beautiful view, I wouldn’t want to cover it either 😘 they also got the windows second hand to stay on budget so they made what they could find work as far as windows/sizing goes
@@ThisCrazyLife I love this series already! In the opening of your video, the home being incomplete reminded me of our build. My husband built our home and it took us almost 2 years and it still wasn't complete when we moved in. Honestly we're still doing projects after almost 2 years of living here!

I was wondering why if they knew they had four boys in one room they made the room so small when they built the house. I guess if they plan on expanding the future it make sense.

I absolutely love the cube storage for multiple children clothing storage! Putting away clothes for 4 kids must be alot easier when their clothing storage is located in one single space!

The barn doors are so cool we have them too for our kids bedroom. I love how each boy has their own cubbies for their own stuff. The 3 tier bunk beds blew my mind. So awesome!

I saw another TH-cam mom do the storage cubes for her sons clothing as well! That really seems like the best way to store kids clothes. They really don’t have to fold the clothes and everything is categorized. I think it would make it super easy for younger kids to get ready!

You guys always keep it real and interesting Amanda love the way you design and style things! So clean and neat and organized!! I never would have pictured a room looking so nice and not crowded at all to sleep,that many children. That bunkbed was amazing!!! You guys made building it look so easy!
