  • Take a look at one of the only properties, in Key West, with their own private beach. Key West is not really know for their beaches. So we wanted to go see the two hotels that DO have a good bit of beach. These are where you can walk out from the resort on to a private beach, instead of going to one of the many Public Beaches on the island. The Reach and Casa Marina are sister properties that are managed by Hilton. The Reach is a Curio Collection Resort and Casa Marina was under the Waldorf Astoria brand. However, last week it changed to be in the Curio Collection. Some places are still connecting it to Waldorf Astoria to include the Tour Guides and some locals down in Key West. Most people do not know. We actually didn't know, until we uploaded this video.
The room you will see is a King Suite Resort View at The Reach. Unfortunately, we were unable to see a room at Casa Marina. We asked to see one and was told no :( Many times we have been able to see different rooms, at various hotels, this way. Yet this time is wasn't possible. It is a shame, as we were hoping that the room would make up for the lack luster of the Casa Marina property. We have been reading a lot of negative reviews and really wanted to see for ourselves. Oh well...we can share all about The Reach and really did enjoy our stay there. We highly recommend it!

Hello -- could you clarify something -- you initially mentioned that room was a king studio suite but then said it was a king suite. I am hoping it's a studio and that the suites have a private bedroom. The Hilton website provides such awful photos of their rooms!!! also do they rake the seaweed or is it like that every day? basically these are the reasons I picked that property but I'm very worried about that room. I typically stay in an 2 bedroom apt right off of Duval but I wanted a beach during this trip.

Hi! Yes, we were in a King Studio Suite. I do believe the other Suites have a bedroom door that closes. Ours did not. It was an open floor plan, like most Studios. Sorry for any confusion!
The seaweed is really, I think, the time of year. I didn’t see anyone cleaning it. That’s not to say they don’t, I just didn’t see it. The Reach Beach is WAY better than Casa Marina, though. You will enjoy it there. We walked everywhere. Yes, it was several blocks but we are use to walking. It’s an easy one. We actually did a split stay and moved over to Margaritaville Beach House, closer to the airport, across from Smathers Beach. We did rent a scooter, there, as that was too far to walk up to Duvall, Mallory and other places around there. Smathers Beach is a Public One and maintained very well. Remember that The Reach is only available to it’s guests and those from Casa Marina. PLUS, a waiter that will bring you food and drinks. So you do have that trade off 😉

@@EscapeRightTravel How was Margaritaville? Buffett is delusional charging those prices to stay on Smathers. he is now going to destroy my home beach, Ocean City, MD by putting up a monster hotel where several smaller mom & pop hotels were. This is a little beach town and he is putting in a monster with valet parking only. it's ridiculous. Not sure who he thinks is going to stay there. He basically bought an entire block of hotels and restaurants and leveled it. It's also a seasonal town so good luck bringing people in year round. Thanks for getting back to me. appreciate that. Happy travels........next up is Siesta Key for me in a few weeks!! thats my favorite "key"
