We're happy to share some helpful tips incase you’re wanting to explore Melbourne anytime soon :)
1. Take a free tour at the State Library of Victoria! It’s a beautiful place and you could easily spend the whole day there. There is a “Dome to Catacombs” tour that we didn’t get to do but we heard amazing. It books out early so make sure to plan ahead!
2. There is a free tram zone in Melbourne that makes getting around town so convenient. We were so appreciative that we could hop on or off wherever we needed to without thinking of cost. It also may be a good idea to try to find a hotel or AirBnB somewhere within the free tram zone.
3. You need something to protect your eyes from the wind! I kept getting things in my eyes everyday and that has literally never happened to me before. I ended up wearing sun glasses at all times and I know it sounds weird, but it honestly made such a difference. Aleks may or may not have disagreed with this tip but he wears glasses all the time so it didn’t affect him as much, haha!
4. Lune is known for their croissants (and they are amazing) but the morning bun was phenomenal. Honestly one of the best pastries I’ve ever had…and I’ve had quite a few. It was a mix between a cinnamon bun and croissant and it was worth every minute in the long line.
5. Melbourne (and Australia in general) has an overwhelmingly high amount of free third places. Essentially, just pleasant places to exist for free outside of work or home. It was refreshing and wonderful to see so many people out and about truly enjoying their city and surroundings. Definitely helped save money while in Melbourne as well!
Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss the next video in our Australia series. As always, thank you so much for being here!
You don't need to buy water in Melbourne.Tap water is safe to drink and refilling stations are located all around the CBD
It has FLUORIDE which is toxic.
All water naturally has minuscule qty of fluoride. Only marginal qty added which helps teeth and no proven links to problems. Hate to think what your brushing your teeth with?
Are you aware most packaged drinks are made in Melbourne and all bottled beverages have it in them. Its harmless. @@elenawalker3746
@@elenawalker3746Most bottled water is sourced from Municipal water sources.
Elanawalker what a ridiculous comment! Typical Woke comment!
Tap water is safe to drink in Australia. No need to buy your own. Glad you enjoyed Melbourne. Best city in the country 😊 and yes, the weather is changeable 😅
'It was a hundred degrees earlier and kind of cold and windy' - Welcome to Victoria! Melbourne's weather is a regular feature of memes for good reason.
Melbourne is the Arts, Academic, Sports, Gardens and Cultural centre of Australia. And we have he best coffee culture in the world. It was given the title of the most liveable city in the world quite a number of years by an international committee. Melbourne wraps itself around a bay with beaches, and with mountains and plains in the distance.
Weather sucks, crimes out of control. Food is good
My home, been all over the world. Its the best city ! Nice vid
I subscribe right after I heard you sing When we were young!!!! Great vlog!!
That's very kind of you! Thank you! 🤍
Hi team, fab vlog well done. As a proud local I think you did a very good job. And your singing wasn’t too bad either 🎶 from your newest Australian 🇦🇺🦘subscriber 📺
Safe travels and we look forward to watching more in the future.
Damien. & YaYa
Such a sweet comment! 🥹 Thank you so much 💛
Welcome to Melbourne, where if you don't like the weather, wait half an hour....
You don't need to buy water in Australia - the tap water is excellent.
You make me want to go to Melbourne! What a great video.
I agree that you both did a great job of this tour. However, as a Melburnian, I would have suggested heading a little further out of the CBD area to get a different perspective on the city. The usual places would be Carlton, Fitzroy and Collingwood and if you were really adventurous, I'd recommend Footscray. These areas offer qualities of Melbourne that are different again.
But for a few days, you did really well and the point is, you enjoyed the experience. That's all one can ask really.
We definitely would love to come back and I’d love to see some of the places you’d mentioned! Thank you so much for the recommendations 🥰
Geelong, The Surfcoast & The Bellarine too! 😊
Amy, you have such a great voice! You should start busking in each of these cities and do a video on where you made the most tips!
And a way to fund more travels!
A pavlova is basically a meringue with marshmallow (the eggwhite-based type, not the gelatine-based type) in the middle. They are served with whipped cream and fruit.
Berries - a mix of any strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or compote
OR, cream with Peppermint Crisp on top !😊
Fun technical touches Amy 🎬
Love the free 3rd places. Perfect 🤗
Bloops are back!!!
I love this! You guys did an awesome job showcasing Melbourne at its best!
It was truly so incredible!! 🤍
March and September are the windy months because that's when the Autumn and Spring equinoxes occur.
Thanks for sharing the Vlog around Melbourne. As a local myself I can’t say I have every visited the state library I will have to check it out. Also like many have stated Melbournes water is perfectly fine to drink no need to buy bottled. As always if your don’t like the weather wait half hour as we can have 4 seasons in one day 😂😂😂
Why buy bottled water? When the water out of the tap is the best water you could find in the world. Wow you have a great voice
I agree! I’m trying to get Aleks to agree with me, too 😂 And thank you!! 🎶🤍
@@amyandaleks I have a little funny story when I land in LA and the Lady showing us our air bnb I went to drink some water out of the tap she said please don't drink the water! Coming from Melbourne I would never give it a second thought
Its perfectly fine and safe to drink tap water in Australia.
Showing this comment to Aleks and hoping the message will stick 😂
Been to 22 countries never been here, enjoyed this debs xx
Thank you so much! 🫶🏼
I noticed you both ate a lot of sweets. The CBD is great, but there is a lot to see just outside the CBD and even regional Victoria.
We actually probably should cut down on sweets 🫢😂 We’ll definitely explore more next time we’re in Melbourne! 🫶🏼
Congratulations on your video but I hope you also visited the museum (free) and tomb of unknown soldier below the shrine they are both moving and emotional.
Oh my gosh, we missed that!! We’re planning on coming back and will definitely check that out 🤍
His sunburn ouch .best to stay undercover in a heat wave in Melbourne.

Welcome to Australia your beautiful people.are U coming to Sydney
Yes, Sydney is next!! 🥰
Why are you carrying a heavy box of water? All tap water in Australia’s major cities are clean and healthy. Melbourne is known for its excellent water.
I try to tell Aleks this everywhere we go! I’m hoping these comments will help him realize I’m right 😂
@@amyandaleks the Australia Alps although not very high get more snow each winter than the Swiss alps. The Aussie Alps are covered by National Parks, State Parks and Forrest reserves. In my younger days I hiked and camped in these mountains fly fishing for wild trout (I’m 76) and drank the ice cold water straight from the streams. Some times I would spend an hour watching a platypus searching for food at the bottom of the crystal clear waters. Take and don’t be afraid to drink the water.
Except for Adelaide's water supply.
@@eddielong8663 who would ever want to go there?
Where else are you guys going?
Sydney, Brisbane, Bundaberg, and Lady Elliot island! ✈️
Nothing is "free" we pay enough taxes to build and maintain these facilities and they should be free.
Ice cream. Ice and cream are two different things. Decaf coffee are two different things. Decaf is not coffee.
Sorry Melbourne but the State Library of Victoria, as lovely as it is, is not "the oldest public library in Australia".
The first was the Sydney Free Public Library est 1826, which became The State Library of NSW in 1869.
And please don't buy water unless you are addicted to the taste of BPA.
Queuing for things you can easily get elsewhere and doing endless tours sort of defeats the "just explore" principle that I think makes discovering new cities such fun.
You buy WATER ..IN MELBOURNE????
MELBOURNE HAS THE PUREST WATER IN AUSTRALIA. AND THE WORLD. BESIDES ... there is no sense in buying ANY water. In ANY AUSTRALIAN CITY. REALLY. Duh!
Buying Decaff Coffee is an exercise in pointlessness. SACRILEGE
And gross indecency!!!
Its free cause we are taxed at 45%
Don't be ridiculous. The first $18K is tax-free, and the tax is graduated after that.
That's rubbish. Most taxpayers are paying between 32 and 37%.
Someone does not like Labor being in power. It seems they do not like all the services provided.
You obviously don't know how income tax is calculated. We have a progressive tax system, not a flat tax. Except of course the GST (VAT)
Only the portion of your income that is over $180,000 is taxed at 45 per cent. The portion of your income below that point is taxed from 19% to 37% per cent, depending on your income level.
Lune was voted the best croissants in the world, the French weren't happy (and I'm French heritage). Why on earth you bought water, you're not in a third world country. Melbourne is regularly in the top 3 most liveable cities in the world, with 7 years as No 1. Any US cities in the Top 10? None.
Get out of the city and go too sunshine the best food from many cultures. Vietnamese,Chinese ,Afghani, Indian best food in Australia. I’ve had food from other suburbs ok not as good as sunshine.
In Australia it is "SAFE" to drink water anywhere, Not like India,Thailand, Pakistan etc etc...
