I remember in college seeing a few students return a hard math exam, one that took most of us three hours to finish, after ten minutes. They weren't prepared and decided to call it in. That's what Desanto did. For the people who think otherwise, they should know that Brands said that he could have finished the match.

(After a second look) :12 DeSanto gets put in a dangerous cradle cause injury time to escape. 2:18 referee starts wrestlers Bravo young takes away Desanto's only threat. 2:30 DeSanto realizes he's one-dimensional (takedown by Roman)
2:55 DeSanto tries to sell the injury but continues to wrestle only limps back to the center. 5:14 DeSanto escapes and reshoots in on same single leg. 5:24 Roman Bravo young slaps another cradle on faster than you can say Hawkeye ( DeSanto tells for ref to stop)
5:37 DeSanto looks at coaching staff. "I can't go".
Coach Brands- "What? Are you quitting"? 5:41 Coach Brands (holding the staff back) "Stay back let him quit". DeSanto immediately stands and fake staggers to the center.

If this were anywhere else. The ref is not stopping this. If you’re that hurt. Don’t step on the line. His leg didn’t seem to be hurt that bad when his hwt won his match. Brands and Desanto are made for each other...Brands only concern is winning and has no problem taking the low road to get there. I don’t know man. I’ll still say to this day that the first time when RBY grabbed his toe and then was going to transition into that cradle, that little jerk of Desantos knee inward is enough to tear a meniscus or something. I did that myself in practice 🤷‍♂️ but he could’ve faked it cause he didn’t wanna get cradled of course

Orthopedic surgeon here. Looked to me like he dislocated his patella, and then it reduced. Very painful injury. No way to continue to wrestle effectively. Amazing to me that he kept trying to wrestle. Courageous kid...and I am a Penn State fan.

What about the fake limp on the wrong leg doctor? What about the kickout and the strong shot doctor? Maybe keep the medical commentary to the surgical room.

It looked like something in desantos knee popped when RBY pulled the leg outwards when he got the the cradleprobly an LCL sprain/minor tear and also looks like he did get broken. After he popped it poor kid can’t catch a break I know he tried to Kumara someone and has a bit of an issue with show boating but he has improved a lot attitude and wrestling wise hope he will be good for big 10

Probably not this year because of gross and I honestly doubt that he can beat fix or suriano. Not saying that he can't though since anything can happen.

CJ B...fix and suriano took redshirt right? Gross can be beaten. Desanto is tough...is he hurt now??

So much wisdom in these chats!
He was scared, didnt want none of RBY.. Lol if you want to see don't want none or scared look at both Lee's matches.. PSU 125lbs wanted to be anywhere but on the mat with Spencer... And Happle looked like a puppy getting beatin by Mike Vick, vs Nick Lee... Austin was aggressive (obviously he took 2 shots got in deep on both attempts, 2nd one he just stopped after he got in which may or may not be cause of a knee injury)..
Im not saying he hurt his knee or didn't, im not a doctor and also wasn't close enough to exam his knee and chat with him... If he wasnt hurt he took the cowards way out, if he is then there's a lot of idiots posting comments.. Bo Jackson walked off the football field from a broken hip, so im sure Austin could walk off the mat if he had torn something in his knee...

Desanto is known for his death grip on the armpit. Causes bruising and completely halts your offense. RBY came up with this strategy to beat it

@@varmint204x6 I have a hard time believing someone at that level would fake it and I do believe he tweaked his knee at the beginning. With that said I watched several times and could not see what happened as he was being taken in the cradle that would have done anything worse to the knee. He is obviously one of the best wrestlers in the nation at that weight but that ending looked suspect. Brands addressed it in the post meet press conference. Stated desanto could have handled it better and possibly continued wrestling.

Don't understand why Iowa fans booed rby, I thought they would have more class than that. There boy is the one that cried and gave up on the match.

  • @dangelojenkins4296

Ok thought for sure that this would be desanto flaking, but after watching and having experience with injuries and medical knowledge through schooling, i change my mind. The lever rby had on desanto's leg in the initial exchange put tension on the mcl by internally rotating the knee and caused it to stretch and probably caused minor tearing on desanto's right leg. Its not hard to walk decently with an mcl injury until it flares up badly from impact or stretching which is why when rby went for it the second time, he'd have to quit. The constant impact of him trying to escape and his takedown attempt would agitate it while rby's violent yank for the cradle stretches it more and places his hands directly on the probable mcl injury. Out of my personal experience, it's the easiest to damage and the one that burns the most when its damaged. Im not even a desanto fan, but im certainly fair and im pretty certain this was no flop or strat to protect his seed
