He has the 2nd highest margin of victory of all time for the Ballon d’Or. One of the most difficult and clutch champions league runs of all time. In my opinion, as much as I love Ronaldo - Benzema’s win should have been the largest margin in Ballon d’Or history. None of the other finalists come close to what Benzema has done imo. One of the toughest and most clutch runs a forward has ever had! Let me know what you think 🤔

I think the biggest strength of Raymar is that he provides a lot of missing context you wouldn't see with stats alone. Sometimes you can look at players in history and you wonder why they were hyped when you see their stats, but Raymar gives an understanding of what other teams were like at the time, how far the sport had come at that stage of a players career, what players they would be compared to in their era and sometimes the players that just came before them.

Benzema is just my favorite player of all time, I have other players that ive followed such as Zidane, Ronaldinho, R9, CR7, Messi... but he's the one that just breath football the most, in the goals, the technique, the way he makes all his teamates better, the fact that he's a true team player in a team game, still able to score when needed, his controls are just insane, he never had a red card in his whole career, had very few yellows, he's very elegant on the field.

I will always say, I’m glad I supported this man from his worse days at Madrid & I genuinely always loved him as a player. Never did I ever think I would live to see the day Benz is a Balon de Oro winner, never. Now that this has happened…life literally feels complete. After years of hearing fans talk down on him or trash him cuz Suarez, Lewa, Ibra or Aguero are “better” this just feels perfect. I’m so glad Zidane made him the undisputed #9 at Madrid.

Though I'm a Barcelona fan, I have always liked Benzema because he was always really underrated. He has always been a consistent player and also very humble. I'm glad he has now gotten the recognition he always deserved.
Thoroughly, thoroughly deserved. I've always felt like he's so underrated, partly because...well...CR7. Even back then, if sometimes he doesn't do much in a game, the stuff he DOES do was always amazing.

the fact of him scoring around 10 goals in cristiano's last season at madrid to scoring 30+ every year since, shows great teamwork, still blows my mind and shows how a quality player can be hugely overshadowed by one of the greats
but people being people would always say dont blame cristiano
benzema was made fun of, used to miss easy tap-ins but that was due to him actually playing a much supportive role almost an attacking mid, which actually improved his passing and dribbling quite a bit and reduced his "scoring skill"
But when he was needed as the leading man, he performed and here we are
and his overall personality also seems really good as a teammate

In my opinion always thought benzema was in the top 3 stikers in the world when Suarez was in barca and lewa was at bayern and we see that when the team needs him the most he steps up to the plate. As a barca fan, I'm very happy that he won and it is fully deserved.👍
To be fair both Lewa and Suarez are better players in their prime. Lewa was robbed in 2020 despite having a better performance than benzema’s 2022 season and Suarez’s prime coincided with Messi and cr7.

Benzema has been killing it, been so class, he definitely deserves it! That win against PSG especially was amazing. Where players like Neymar left because they didn't want to be in the shadows of the best player (which, fair from them, I get their point obviously), Benzema stayed and did everything for the team, and in the end, it paid off. I can really enjoy Benema's play!

21/22 UCL was the most exciting year for me as a RM fan. Benzema's goals against Chelsea and Man City weren't easy, especially the header he received from VJ. To the haters who think RM clinched the title by luck, they don't know shit about football.

Benzema had a huge talent since he was at Lyon as top 10 players in the world. Grand technique and great dribbler and finisher, but his mentality and child like behavior was always standing in his way of playing football with efficiency in mind. That lack of mentality is what keeps a lot of huge talents becoming great. In the latest years he's like a fine wine in his prime and experience is key. But the fact that he deserved it the most than other winners is a bit exaggerated. He deserved it and that's that and i'm really happy for him, because his latest game is top notch.
People need to realize that it wasn’t just Ronaldo who he had to share the glory with… it was Higuaín until 2012-13 which was Higuaín a last season. People try to blame ronaldo but they forget he had to share the same position with another great striker for his 4 seasons at Madrid…

Great Video! I just want to raise the point that Benzema, although not as valuable as he is now, was still amazingly valuable for Real Madrid alongside CR7. He was the perfect complementary striker with his passing and pressuring and all the other little things he does. He was being held back in the goal scoring department, but was probably even a little better everywhere else. The point is just that his talent was not wasted alongside CR7, it was just not as obvious.
Anybody who thinks that Benzema didn't deserve it this year has never touched a football in his life. Man has been crushing it lately.
I also feel like senior squad members like him and Modric should be credited with the development of young stars like Vini, Camavinga and Velverde.

the big thing about Benzema is just how he knows what role to play
throughout most his Real Madrid career he was the side man, to the CR7 and the Bale, but when the former left and the latter was chased out by the ungrateful fans and press, he switched up and became the main man, I honestly can't think of any other strikers that can do that, I can think of some for each role, such as Lewa or Suarez as the main man, or a Heskey for the side man, but none that can do both to even a competent level let alone Benzema's elite among elite level

There’s a thing, last year and since many years there were 170 journalists who voted for the ballon d’or but this year is special since only 100 journalists could vote. Which means if there were as many voters as when Ronaldo 2016 won his, Benzema should have had the most votes and the biggest gap between the 1st and 2nd picks which I think is incredible. Benzema waited a long time to get the Ballon D'or. In 2017, a lot of people wrote off Benzema but when Ronaldo left he hit form like no other. No question Benzema deserve the Ballon D'or.
You forgot to mention how much Ronaldo helped Benzema too. Years ago when Benzema was much more inconsistent, Ronaldo would give him MANY passes that lead to goal-scoring opportunities, many of which weren't scored by Benzema. I remember in the 2017/2018 season when Benzema was going MONTHS without scoring, and with the Real Madrid fans booing him, during a game Benzema gave Ronaldo a back heel assist and Ronaldo pointed to Benzema asking the crowd to applaud him for his assist. I'm pretty sure later that game, Ronaldo had a penalty to take to complete his hat trick, but gave it to Benzema to end his goal-scoring drought and gain confidence. Yes Benzema helped Ronaldo alot, but Ronaldo arguably helped Benzema more, and Benzema himself stated Ronaldo was his inspiration for working harder, taking a leadership role in the team, and essentially fill Cristiano's shoes at Real Madrid

What’s crazy is 2 of the most undeserved were 2019 and 2021 when Messi won it over Robert Lewandowski and Van Dijk. While he may be the best player ever he most certainly wasn’t the best intones two years. A CL title for VVD in 2019 and not being dribbled past for over a year and Bobby murdered it in 21 with 51 goals in 46 appearances. Modric was a bit crazy too, but he did lead a mediocre Croatia to the final so I can let that slide a tiny bit.
