Such a moving episode. You could feel the emotions coming from Kai and Aichi near the end that makes this episode so special. I've been telling people the English Dub does it's job in this series, and this episode proves it.

Kai will only psyqualia at this point in time. This coexists with the manga storyline with the minor changes like 3 v 3 and imaginary gift. He will never use it again.
Can't say if I like that the first season was put all into 25 episodes rather than 64, or that Q4 wasn't really going to any tournament, but Kai getting Psyqualia is a pretty nice plot twist. Most of the other character are a bit better too, including Morikawa( I think he was a lot funnier in the old one) having his own growth as a cardfighter along with Aichi and the others.
Morikawa was a bit funnier in the old one but he's a better character in this one and I'll take that trade. But the biggest improvement is definitely Kai, I hated him in the old series, so angry and mean to everyone including his own team even though they all tried to help him. He may have had his reasons but that attitude of his was unacceptable, here though he feels so much more like a real person with real flaws despite his near flawless win record. The show is just as much about Kai as it is about Aichi.

I remember watching vanguard years ago after finding a promotional disc for it in a card shop and back then the story was slightly different, there definitely wasnt no grade 4 cards and they seemed to have removed a whole tournament where aichi and ren would have had a card fight at and instead just had them fight at the asteroid hq
Yeah, that's the original Vanguard! This is a remake that follows the manga. While I love Kai in this Vanguard, the original one is definitely still my favorite. Its so much longer and has a lot more room for character development and other plots with characters they didnt show here. Its really hard to find though, since this account blocked/limited access to the first season or so of the original on here.
I feel like I'm the one person that doesn't think it's cool Kai has psyqualia I mean that was the thing that made him cool he didn't need to so I'm glad he rejected (even if he did need it to beat Aichi)
I’m not if they explained how kai was able to live on his own in the og series but I like the little touch here where his father cared enough to give kai life insurance
the whole thing is about "imagining all the options". Dragonic Overlord repeating what kai himself told everyone else was to reinforce this belief. in fact, it shows the cards get him despite Kai never having Psyqualia before.
I like the reboot, but it feels different knowing morikawa isn't addicted to grade 3s and has a balanced deck but isn't as powerful as he was in the original series whenever he's using a balanced deck.
