No on sunglasses because when you get to be an old geezer you have a hard time seeing ANYTHING in the woods much less with sunglasses on. But for driving I think it’s a must or if your bird hunting in a blind facing the sun they can be a lifesaver! 😊
To me the most beautiful cartridge is the 300 Holland Holland, it stands there on a table, looking like an Atlas Rocket. That subtle shoulder is like nothing else.
Leupold discontinued their fxII ultralight fixed 2x scope. There’s hardly anyone making fixed quality optics except for maybe nightforce competition 4x. I think vortex should make a razor 2x or 3x fixed optic but add the red dot. There’s plenty of people that would want something like that whether it’s a lever gun, 458 win mag or hunting guides in Alaska or just for people who what a light weight high quality simple optic for their hunting rifle especially on the east coast when you don’t need magnification but want the benefits of glass over irons with long eye relief. I would be first in line to buy one.
Mark, I too take things personally a lot more often than not-I was writing a nice comment until you said disliked the beatles. I can't make you feel any better, I hope your vests sits heavy on one side all day on thr next bad Wednesday you have. Happy holidays gents. Hope its a great one
Mark had a rough childhood and was dropped way too many times and he hasn’t liked the Beatles since and the brain surgery didn’t go good for him either with the only available brain that wasn’t used was Joe Biden’s 😳🤣 So we have to cut him a little slack on the Beatles😵💫 but he still needs to get a suppressor 🙌
My old gun recommendations if you have a deep budget: 1. Bren gun 2. Remington model 8 3. Anything with a full mannlicher stock 4. If it’s even legal PKP pecheneg 5. DP28 6. Makarov pistol 7. Tokarev pistol
Mark pulled me to his side when he said he didn’t like the Beatles and Ryan countered strongly with he listens to a lot of Tool. I’ll just say both you guys are awesome (jury’s still out on Jimmy, just kidding). Merry Christmas to you guys and all the Vortex crew.
For the question old rifle recommendations. Old guns people may not know about would be a great podcast episode Ithaca LSA-55 , made by Tikka, for example.
Mark needs an ultralight over barrel supressor, only 2” extra length, not enuf to snag on trees but his lady will love it (less noise hunting toger. Haha)
@@frontlinerejects8029 Love your guys' channel! I'd love tobsee a 95gr lrx tested or a 70gr cx. I bought some 90gr eldx to load after watching. I went with the 90grcx, based on extrapolation from that 80grcx test. I know you guys are busy too. I look forward to seeing whatever calibers you test though. I like the format you use. It's cool, it's like hanging out and talking shit w buddies. I still crack up over the hipster .243 comment. Merry Xmas!
I will NEVER buy a suppressor until they are removed from NFA. Many other countries have these available without any restrictions and are in fact encouraged by their governments. This should never have been restricted in such a way and to continue buying them with these restrictions further in trenches the government to keep the tax in place!!!!
Actually the more that are purchased the more likely they are to be removed due to becoming “common use” devices. You can argue the international politics all day but don’t forget that those same countries require far more hoops to jump through to purchase the firearm itself than even the NFA requires us to go through Avoiding buying because you think you’re making a point/protest against the government hurts nobody but you. As the guys here say time and time again, once you shoot with them you’ll never go back.
@ do you hunt? And if you do, do you wear muffs when it’s 10 degrees outside instead of staying warm or like most people do you ignore the ringing after the shot? I prefer to not have to do either of those things because the suppressor that keeps the shot under the 140db “hearing safe” level for that 1 shot isn’t blowing my ears out
@ the Rigby is cool but the rifles for them are super expensive and not for the regular hunter who wants to go to Africa. The model 70 in 416 rem mag is the rifleman’s rifle for everyone.
For shots between 500-800y i use the Sig BDX when hunting. To me, that is the fastest and most ethical way to kill game at that distance. Practice a whole lot.
My dad has his grandpa's 4 digit seriel number model 70 in 30-06. "5xxx"if I remember correctly. Beautiful rifle. Not sure what year that puts it at, but gotta be early!
Get a Suppressor Mark. Gotta Protect the Hearing. Also, there are unfortunate listeners out here, like me, who are from regions that you cannot have legally obtained Suppressors. Greetings from Canada.
I built my wife a superlite AR with a carbon fiber lower, carbon fiber handguard, a pencil profile .223 Wylde 16" barrel with a single port Warhog comp. and a 2 oz. See-All sight weight unloaded is 4.7 pounds and loaded with 20 round mags (went smaller to keep weight down) it weighs 5.2 pounds. Really nice all day carry rifle and she's so weight sensitive, it was the only way to get her to give an AR a chance. ;)
@20:00 I'm pretty sure the 30-40 Krag talk was on "America's Cartridge." Y'all went to Ryan's choice and there was some mockery that he was going to pick the Krag. Ryan quoted Teddy Roosevelt's opinion of the Krag and then y'all moved on.
I will never own a suppressor as long as the government is going to tax me for the privilege of owning one. I should be able to go buy one over the counter like every other civilized nation on the planet without the government imposing yet another tax on me.
I mean they’re already taxing you on the guns you purchase after they make you fill out a federal form and submit to a background check. I had the same mentality, friend. Then E-File came along, I realized I could get one in 2 days (in theory; lots of people did, mine took 83 days), and while it’s annoying and I can’t stand any of it? The same way I put up with 4473’s so I can get the stuff I want, now I put up with the form 4 to get the silencer. Well worth it now that you can get them in a fraction of the time they took beforehand. They’re such a great accessory, so inherently useful not just for hearing protection, but on a fighting rifle (the real reason they’re regulated), that it’s just outright handicapping yourself not to have one. The first time you fire a 5.56 with a full size can like the RC2, and it’s the same decibel level or slightly lower than a .22lr? And it feels softer shooting, and many of the best muzzle devices serve as quick attach / detach mounts for many of the best cans? I wish I had done it sooner, although the previous wait times where “6 months is blazing fast, 12-18 months is a commonality” made me instinctively resentful, especially given the fact that they shouldn’t be regulated at all. However, I also don’t think I should have to fill out 4473’s, I don’t think a department of treasury agency should be doing paramilitary raids over a $200 tax debt related to an arbitrary “rule” (“not a law, mind you, we don’t pass laws!”) that can land you 10-15 years in prison, and I don’t think there should be any infringements on gun ownership. The problem is the people we’ve allowed into the country; the founding fathers made it clear that the constitution/ the American system could only work for a religious, moral people, namely the Europeans who were dissatisfied with the conditions in Europe at the time, and decided to move across the world to tame an entire continent in order to find the freedom and liberty they desired. When the demographics of the country don’t have the principles of the constitution in their spirit, it really is just a piece of paper. What difference does it make if they know you have a silencer too? Tons of people have them, more than ever, and just like bump stocks and pistol braces, the more these things are in the hands of John Q Citizen, the harder it is for them to successfully take them away from everyone. Pistol braces could have been described by someone with your mindset as a silly ploy to get around the SBR restrictions, and since those shouldn’t exist in the first place, on principle you won’t own any short barreled AR’s, even in pistol configurations with braces that retain all the legal privileges a pistol has over a rifle (loaded in the front seat, short enough to actually grab it and use it from inside the car, legal to carry it loaded in a small bag or backpack). The reason you play their silly games is because the tools are useful and desirable to have, and there is no real penalty other than moral outrage and bruised ego for getting the permission slip for the silencer and foregoing the stock and vertical foregrip on the short barreled AR for a pistol brace and handstop. Many people are even openly using forced reset triggers that have safe / semi auto / a third forced reset semi auto mode that gives them an unusually fast fire rate. Should they be allowed to simply own modern select fire rifles? Of any length ? Absolutely. Are they accomplishing largely the same thing as owning a select fire, short barreled rifle, while still playing within the rules and legal framework established by the government, however arbitrary and aggravating ? Absolutely. I can understand your position, friend, I really can. I agree with it. I would simply urge you to consider how much ground you already cede in your acquiring firearms through FFL’s, and realize that a form 4 for a silencer is not so beyond the pale compared to what you already put up with that you should deprive yourself of a truly useful tool. Just my thoughts.
Mark better get a can! I have a 16 inch AR15 based on the KE Arms WWSD rifle or the CDR. It has a faxon pencil barrel in 5.56 and it’s such a nice rifle to handle. I haven’t weighed it but it’s extremely lightweight. I actually took my first deer when I was 10 years old with a surplus 8mm Mauser variant and it dropped the deer. Great video
Are we absolutely positive Ryan is not a "closet engineer"? His response to the dryer lint question has me thinking he has more going on between his ears than he lets on.
I'm with Ryan, December 25th was not the birth of Jesus/Yeshua. He was conceived on Hanukkah, born on the first day of Feast of Tabernacles, read the Gospel of John in the interliner version. And He was circumcised on the Eighth day. He was also crucified on Passover, arose on the First Fruits of Barley, gave the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Weeks, also called Pentecost and it is the wheat harvest. He did everything according to His Father's calendar and will do likewise when He returns on Festival of Trumpets. He will judge the world on day of Atoinment and the final fulfillment of Feast of Tabernacles will be the Melineal reign. December 25th is a Pagan holiday christianized by the Catholic Church. We are to be the wild olive branch grafted into the Root of Spiritual Isreal. Elohim specifically said not to worship Him the way the Pagans worshiped their gods!!!
Hear me out instead of cartridge talks also do company talks. I.e. brownings history as a manufacturer. It would be neat as we now eventually you will run out of chamberings to talk about unless you do pin cartridges and the rims the older chamberings we have never even seen which would be neat too.
CZ 600 Lux or American? Hopefully American… Lux always looked a bit flaccid to me 🥀. Mark didn’t spec the White Gold Medallion X-Bolt???? Unfortunate. But why the A-Bolt over X-Bolt? Just price point?
10 minute talks can last 4 hours and I’ll listen to every minute
No such thing as too long with these guys
The sticker on the sweater sleeve has my ocd going wild. Now i have to watch to see if Ryan will call out Jim on this issue...
We all know Jim wears a medium, but it does look a little small. He could probably handle a large .
I am really glad I’m not the only one that noticed!
Great podcast. Merry Christmas guys.
Thank you for all you guys do. Merry Christmas to you all, your families, and to the Vortex nation.
No on sunglasses because when you get to be an old geezer you have a hard time seeing ANYTHING in the woods much less with sunglasses on. But for driving I think it’s a must or if your bird hunting in a blind facing the sun they can be a lifesaver! 😊
Nice touch for Jim to move the size ribbon sticker from the right sleeve to the front of the sweater! Merry Christmas!
My daughter took a doe with a 6 ARC. Excellent result.
Nice story bro.
To me the most beautiful cartridge is the 300 Holland Holland, it stands there on a table, looking like an Atlas Rocket. That subtle shoulder is like nothing else.
We were saying the same thing about it 70 years ago🙌
Merry Christmas! Get a Suppressor Mark!
I knewi it wouldn't be the final season to Spaghetti Shootout, we all look forward to season 4 😊
Love the sticker on Jim’s sweater!
I'm excited for the cartridge talks, ive been waiting¡

"I feel like this is an intervention" 😂😂😂
I wanna see mark asking the questions on the shootout while jim and ryan discuss be interesting 🤔
Annual Q&A. Love It.
This was all enjoyable but the last 10 minutes were solid gold😆
the last 10 minutes were solid gold😆
Great to see my man Jims knowledge of Spongebob and that he wears a Medium size shirt
Great talk guys Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas guys and gals at Vortex.
My first thought was a ruger #1 as well. But in 7mm Mauser
Where do we request " by popular demand" videos? I'd love to hear one on 338-06.
You guys have talked me into calibers that I didn't know I needed, until I watched your videos.
Mark, I too take things personally a lot more often than not-I was writing a nice comment until you said disliked the beatles. I can't make you feel any better, I hope your vests sits heavy on one side all day on thr next bad Wednesday you have.

On the Youth Gun Topic:
The Biggest Issue to me was not even noise, it's the blast. A linear compensator can help with that.
My old gun recommendations if you have a deep budget: 1. Bren gun 2. Remington model 8 3. Anything with a full mannlicher stock 4. If it’s even legal PKP pecheneg 5. DP28 6. Makarov pistol 7. Tokarev pistol
Title of this should be “Questions answered by Ryan”. Merry Christmas folks
Merry Christmas gentlemen
Mark pulled me to his side when he said he didn’t like the Beatles and Ryan countered strongly with he listens to a lot of Tool. I’ll just say both you guys are awesome (jury’s still out on Jimmy, just kidding). Merry Christmas to you guys and all the Vortex crew.
Good morning vortex nation merry Christmas Eve
I appreciate everything you guys do, it gives me something to look forward to while working
happy holidays
Mark if you have ever had some good moose back strap you would make a hunt to the motherland ASAP🙌
For the question old rifle recommendations.
Old guns people may not know about would be a great podcast episode

🙌👏👊 Now that would be a reason for us old geezers to watch!

If mark doesn’t have a suppressor picked out and purchased by Easter he owes me a Vortex Nation hoody. 👀
Ryan needs to have a collectors rifle buying 101 podcast. I am sure Mark would appreciate the older cartridges that are not 300wsm
257 and 300 weatherby are the most aesthetically pleasing to me. Those radius shoulders
Now I want to know about Ryan's High Wall
Merry Christmas guys! You’re podcast is a great one.
For an old style rifle, the Marlin/Ruger 1894 in .357/.38 is hard to beat. You can take small to medium game or light load .38s for plinking.
Fresh out of the merch pile and onto Jimmy for the show. Size stickers are the new elbow patches. 😂😂😂
Looking forward to a cartridge talk on the 7.5 Swiss!

Laughs in 30-06

Merry Christmas from the deep South.

I just don't see the point, you still have to wear hearing protection if super sonic, I just bought some noise canceling muffs. Done!

Very great and very underrated gun🙌
@edwardabrams4972 i have one sitting in my safe in 30-06, it reminds me of a weatherby mark v, yes it is a great rifle!
Yes! I’ll get my first suppressor when Mark does. I’m waiting on him. I’ve been on the fence for too long myself.
We need a 416 rem mag talk
That would be nice but the Rigby would be better because it’s one of the great classics and my sons have a few of them I got them🙌
@ the Rigby is cool but the rifles for them are super expensive and not for the regular hunter who wants to go to Africa. The model 70 in 416 rem mag is the rifleman’s rifle for everyone.
Mark…..The suppresser is now a Mandate 😅😅❤
I hate suppressors too being a very old geezer but I still think Mark should get one so we can get one more real hunters opinion on it.
The 243 used to be the great varmint cartridge but I agree the 6.5 creed more is a better choice and I don’t even like the 6.5 needmore😳
For shots between 500-800y i use the Sig BDX when hunting. To me, that is the fastest and most ethical way to kill game at that distance. Practice a whole lot.
Happy holidays! Get a suppressor Mark!😂🎉
You need to just drag Mark to a kiosk or a suppressor store and say pick one !!!!!
If yall would make some aviator sunglasses i would be onboard
Came for the content, stayed for the commentary.
I run an LHT 4.5-22 on my NRL Hunter rifle. Works great

300 Savage cartridge talk please
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good sight!
The 6.5 creedmore with a 16” inch barrel and a suppressor and a super good recoil pad for kids first gun🙌 I have 7 kids and it’s just works 👏
Cartridge talks please... RCMs, 358 Norma mag
Wood stock rifle today im looking for a 375 or larger, 375 Ruger being a top contender.
There are two types of people in this world. Those who think Tool is great and those who are wrong. Keep spiraling out Ryan.
Get a Suppressor Mark. Gotta Protect the Hearing.
Also, there are unfortunate listeners out here, like me, who are from regions that you cannot have legally obtained Suppressors.

Could you do a berth and evaluation of the Vanguard
Which one? They go from flimsy crappy stocks to decent ones, the howa barreled action is solid regardless of what stock it is dropped in.
