    I paid way too much for butyl tape on Amazon only to have it come alive while reinstalling the windows on my camper shell. What a mess I made. Now I plan to use it for vacuum bagging a surfboard so your video is very informative. I’m interested in using pvc pipe for sealing edges. I like that there are people like yourself who make videos of their whacky projects. Thanks man!

    Fantastic content for those of us that want to build composite wings. Real world science and craftsmanship. Really appreciate your efforts.

    5-pack of 3/8" x 45' rolls on Amazon for $14.40. I can deal with the minor disadvantages for such a large price difference.

      And what you get from Amazon may be different/better than the tape from Home Depot. If you do try the Amazon tape then please let me know what your results are!

    I can't wait to see the structural design of your wing and how you plan to cover it.

      Me too. LOL. I have some ideas but I need to finish my composite testing before I can really dive into it.

    Store butyl tape in the freezer. If it starts becoming alive during use simply chuck it back in the cold. Having multiple rolls really helps too because you can cycle through them. Humidity can become a problem so we keep them in Ziploc bags and a few in a Tupperware container.
    Don't sit on discarded cuttings and jump in your wife's car, she could become butyl on occasions too.

    I'm fascinated by low and slow flight and in particular STOL ultralights, which are rare. An ultralight Zlin Savage Bobber / Zenith 701-style hybrid is what I have in mind if you can picture that! I also want 2 seats in tandem, as I'm working towards my Paramotor Trike Instructor Certification in compliance with Part 103.

      I've toyed with the idea of the next design being STOL.

    That's a LOT of work when you can simply use plastic tubing?

    Are you going to compare S Glass to E Glass to CF at some point ?
    Will the wing structure be glass or CF or aluminum ?

    • @Designer103
      @Designer103  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have some glass on the way. I plane to do some comparison testing at some point.

    What is with the rib template hanging on the wall behind you at 7:00. Did I miss a video ?

      I have some rib parts for an Ultracruiser that I have been working on from time to time. I have not made any videos about that yet. I just work on them when I'm waiting for samples to cure or videos to render.
