Nice to see young people having interest to join la Légion Étrangere.
Served for 7 years (sorry if my english is not very good) in the 3ème REI, quite a long time ago, I am 46 y/o now.
If you acheive your Képi Blanc and serve la Légion, you will never forget it.

How many years can you serve at the FFL? I'm planning to go to France once I finished college (just in case I fail the admission) , and if I can actually join it, if I can serve for 10+ years would be very rewarding

I guess it's a bit late, but still - Each contract you sign in legion demands that you serve atleast 5 years. so yeah if you get accepted you could sign another contract when the first one finishes and therefore will be able to serve for 10 years

Michel, I've compared these knobbers to people who have studied karate for 5 months and earned their yellow belt. If the viking then opened a dojo with himself as instructor who would join?
It's the same as the Viking giving advice about something he knows fuck all about. 5 months of joining, going through interviews and then BASIC training does not make you a legionnaire and it certainly does not give you the right to give advice.

The Kepi March is done at the end of his time at the Farm. So in 3 weeks time he will have his Kepi Blanc and be back at Castel.
Then he will have a VERY boring 3 months before he gets to regiment. It'll be at this point where he will be able to buy a phone and get into contact with you.

Hi there, thanks for the very interesting and up to date video regarding the selection process. My biggest concern, i was hoping you might be answer, is to do with eye tests taken. I have a slight colour problem and was wondering if you know what colour tests are involved? did you encounter anyone with this problem. I was on the website and it mentioned it depends if you want to become a paratrooper or commando. If you fail the colour book with numbers another test is taken called a lantern test which determines how bad it is

"Very Curious": You enlisted in the FFL. You arrived at Fort de Nogent and were taken in by Legion recruiters. You then passed a pre-selection process in Paris or Aubagne. After that I presume you went through 4 weeks of training and then completed the "Marche Képi Blanc".May I ask how you served only 5 months and then released from your 5-year contract?

Unfortunately Miguel, nowadays you can ask to go at the end of basic training. This is not a good thing because it draws wasters like the Viking to the legion. In his case he was kicked out of the Canadian army. He was not up to the rigors required to be a legionnaire. So he went crying to his chef de section and begged to leave. He then decided to try and justify not making the grade by doing crappy TH-cam videos.
      A right royal waster.

I went to Marseille Aubagne last Week, when i was there, i had not the
    Courage to go in.
The long lonely journey gives me to much Time, to think about it.
Also the "Problem" that i had to much People at Home, who don´t
    supported my choice.
It´s a big different to think "I go for 5 Years and join" than really doing it
and be completely alone and away from everything.
The thing isn´t over for me..., for sure. But if You go, be more than sure
and from the first Step You do in the direction of the Legion, let everything
behind. All thoughts that can hold You back.

During selection, there were 3 Americans that i hung out with in the English Mafia. 2 were in the selection group just before me and neither were selected, both ex-military. The third one was kicked out for fighting with one of the slavs (and the cold war lives on! :p). I did meet a few more later though. During Training however i was the only candidate who was from North America, and one of 3 native English speakers. Others spoke english, but as a second language.

    Thanks you

    • @Littlest.Viking
      @Littlest.Viking  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

1A. Glasses will be seen as a liability, it will not however completely bar you entry, especially if you are a fit candidate in all other areas.
2A. Yes, 7 will be enough to pass the Luc Legere. You will run many, many kilometers, i was extremely unprepared for the amount of running, and not just that, the terrain in which you will run on. I survived, not without much teeth-grinding and a constant flow of obscenities from my mouth though. It will just be a little harder if you cant keep up.
I personally scored 13 pullups and 9 on the Luc Legere.

Reza you are out of the loop. The FFL hasn't taken anyone with a serious criminal record for years now since the late eighties. You can't join the legion if you have a bad criminal record. They overlook petty crimes but not major ones. With so many applicants they can afford to be super choosy on who they take.
And NEVER LIE to them as they have an amazing intelligence network. They will expose your lies and they will definitely not take you on.

Zakalon is 100% correct. Petty offenses are forgiven (unless they are drug related, sorry no druggies in the Legion) but not only are serious offenses not forgiven they WILL make it a point to call Interpol if you have any outstanding arrest warrants (and they do check).
So if you are fleeing justice, do not think the legion will offer you refuge.

Actually that is not true anymore, the Legion is highly selective. Only 1 out 7 applicants gets his kepi...I seriously doubt the British Army is that selective.

I had light asthma when I was 2 years old and required steroids when I was 2. Since then I've had no issues. Would this affect me? Don't want to go all the way down to be sent home, thanks

I think his answers are completely honest and I believe him that he finished basics. So I have to thank him for this video. I am thinking hard about joining, and I always have this image of a super elite force that you can only join when you are 3 meters tall and have arms like Arnold. It is nice to hear that probably normal people join and have the chance of passing (with a fucking hard preperation)... This guy is not mad about the legion he made his experience and shares it. So why is everyone bad mouthing him?
