yea i played this game 10yrs ago and graphics were awesome back then, i loved the environment of this game, that's the reason i remembered it and came on to search for videos, never got to finish it tho. i'm about to drink some beer and watch this sucker go down
I was never able to bring myself to finish Silent Hill 2 after finding out that the main character is a murderer... This game, however was great. The weirdness factor + the transitions into the nightmare world made it a truly scary experience. For those complaining about the graphics, they're actually damn good for PS1. Jeez, you'd think some people were born with PS2s and PS3s.
Silent Hill will always be the scariest games ever made for me, much more scary than the whole ''pop-out'' scares of Resident Evil. Silent Hill is more psychologically deep, the kind that gives you nightmares for weeks XD
"You're the only one I've seen in this town. Oh! Also, it's dangerous out there, so even though it's deserted, take my gun. I'm such a good cop." Yeah... that was logical. Lmao
"Is that Cheryl's sketchbook?" Hmmm, She's at the school." The tone of his voice portrays to me how much our dear Harry is in pain because his daughter is lost in a city full of demons and blood and freaking skinless dogs, and obviously, she's at the school (good kid!), leaving pieces of paper to inform him about that fact. I really love this game.
When I was playing, at 3:57 I thought I saw something in the window, but I couldn't go back to check... and I DID see something. Awesome. Thanks for the video.
I played this game right after I finished playing Silent Hill 2 and it surprised me that it has a different creepy eerie mood than the sequel. Plus it has nothing to do with the first. Great times when horror games were being discovered. I pray to Samael that Silent Hill becomes real!!!
I can't believe it has been 12 years. Time slips away so fast. I agree with you. The first one was the scariest and I've played all of them. I don't know if it was because it was the first scary video game I played when I was a teen, or what, but I shit my pants a lot then cuz of this game.
WOW, Thanks for posting the whole game. I bought this game when it first came out about ten years ago. I still liked like my resident evil series better, but I never got to the end of this one. I finally can see what happens. I didnt know they made 3 or 4 following installments of this though.
Haven't played Downpour, but you hit the nail on the head otherwise. Silent Hill: Homecoming didn't scare me at all. All the others are at least pretty scary, but none seem to have the ability to join with the first three in the hall of fame.
It's really funny to watch his thought processes. "I'll go check that alley again." '->Cheryl' on the map. HAHAHA! "Hmm. She's at the school." Well, there's no certainty that she's definitely there! If I saw those things flying around, and that half gone corpse in that basement alley, I'd definitely go with Cybil. Plus, what happened to his knife stabs? Thought he was stabbed? So unclear. I can't believe he came here for a vacation. >_>
AMAZING. Way better than Resident Evil. Silent Hill 1 and Homecoming are the best. Isnt it scary (6:00) you running and, suddenly that flying demon comes after you? SILENT RULES!
when i was a kid, this was the first time i was scared in a daytime setting. I did'nt wanna leave the cafe. And That RADIO IS USELESS! There is no point of letting you know a enemy is near if it's real fucking loud. good work koonami
yeah, you even calm down once you can see the monsters, what is really scary is walking around there knowing that they are watching you and hearing strange things all over the place =D
I barely remember this, but when the radio goes off, doesn't the ringing sound signify a flying enemy, and the crackling means an enemy on the ground? Just something I noticed and remembered.
Was that comment about the in-game vs cutscene graphics being ironic? Because if not, that's some fascinating stuff. Wow. I'm surprised at how well this has held up, actually.
I remember playing this game when I was in like 6th grade, and I'm pretty sure that the audio wasn't that badly linked with the subtitles, it's probably like that because of youtube. Bu you are right about the dialogue not being used that often on the ps1, the only other game I remember was Metal Gear Solid that had actual voiceovers in it.
Every Silent Hill game ive played they allend up taking place of my favorite games. The only ones i havent played is 4, origins, and shattered memories(which i dont plan on playing)
agreed, the monsters in Silent Hill are more disturbing then the ones in Resident Evil. Or, it may be because I watched my step-dad play RE: Code Veronica and RE 4 and am used to it. Although those blue vampire-y things scare me 0_0
This game is beautifully creepy. Overstated I know but its true, Even when these 2 characters are talking in the diner, its like everything in the room is moving independently of them. Its feels like I am tripping acid while watching this!
I think I'll take your advice mate, I've only played through SH4, nearly clocked it cos Ive reached the "deepest part of him" (wont spoil it for other people if you aint got there yet) Would try Homecoming, but it dont work with my X1950pro. peace
OK, that's really freaky. I've just played the game myself and it let me leave the cafe straight after Cybil? No flying creature attacked me or anything. Also, there weren't any creatures outside either. It must be a glitch or something because the cafe windows were smashed from the outside, but not on the inside. Strange?
Yes Harry, go run outside in the snow were you can barely see anything after a humanoid bat thing came from out there tryign to kill you. Because that's the smartest thing to do when a monster tries to kill you. Go were it came from.
It looks so dated now, but was such an incredible experience in its day. I really wish they'd do a proper remake of this. (I like to pretend that silly ice world Wii remake doesn't exist).
Little do most poeple who play this game know, the alley you go through in the beginning merges / transforms into The Other side the instant you hear the sirens, the alley becoming The Other more and more as you venture through the alleyways. This most likely the ONLY explanation for all the blood, corpses, and the appearance of what I'm pretty sure are Gray / Grey Children. There may be other reasonable explanations out there; that's why I said MOST LIKELY. I'm just guessing the odds, peeps.
OH YEA! If you like OLD games. Im talking the first ever console game that gave us nightmares:- SNES Game from our Japanese cousins: Clock Tower 1. Ive NEVER played any other game from that era, that was successful at being scary. Nostalgias not what it used to be. Scissorman FTW, without Clock Tower, there would be no Silent Hill, no Resident Evil. trust me.
I just love this game all of them, but I didn't got the ps1 so I couldn't get this game, I hope they make the new version of Silent Hill 1, maybe is getting out for ps2
i agree with you, this game would be amazing with better graphics, althought it is an awesome game already. I beat this game years back at night with lights off and WOW what a creepy experience xD
Haha yeah me too! I loooooove it! I say it's 'bout time for a remake! All other game series are taking advantage of remaking their classics. I think this will be a perfect game to target for a remake.
i think im going to buy this game i was like 3 when this game came out i never played this but i watched my brother and i rember like 2 part of the game but as i watch i rember more
where can i download this game? so i can play it in my computer and one more thing where can i download a emulator of ps1 that can work on windows vista?
"Huh? Radio?" *cough*GYROMANCY*cough* Yes, take the damn radio or you DIE. See, I'm an idiot, so I would have stayed and fought all the monsters. XD GO HARRY GO. *hugs Harry* I wish you were in the movie...
The game is awesome. The only thing I did not like about it is that I had to go back to get certain things. For example, I had the screwdriver but then I had to go back to look for the screws...
in this game, sounds are really scary
"This is not a dream!" just the way he says that after some freaking flying beast attacks him!! I can't stop laughing xDD
yea i played this game 10yrs ago and graphics were awesome back then, i loved the environment of this game, that's the reason i remembered it and came on to search for videos, never got to finish it tho. i'm about to drink some beer and watch this sucker go down
One of my favorite games of all times! A masterpiece!
i like this guy's transitions and the music he adds like in the alley, i guess this really is like a movie in some way
Totally XD
"Barry!"
"Jill!"
"You could have been a Jill sandwich!"
the way those dogs jumps always makes me lol "RAWR!!!"
I was never able to bring myself to finish Silent Hill 2 after finding out that the main character is a murderer... This game, however was great. Man! this guy is a tough muffin! He must have played this game 3 times and again! He is like a gladiator!
man, i love that music when they are talking, it sounds so nice
When I was playing, at 3:57 I thought I saw something in the window, but I couldn't go back to check... and I DID see something. Awesome. Thanks for the video.
i LOVE you for making these.
i love how calm he is about his missing daughter.
I like this Game better than the other Silent hill games because It Reminds me ALOT of the movie!
I played this game right after I finished playing Silent Hill 2 and it surprised me that it has a different creepy eerie mood than the sequel. Plus it has nothing to do with the first. Great times when horror games were being discovered. I pray to Samael that Silent Hill becomes real!!!

I think it would. For me, it's the music and the fog, plus the noises you hear coming out of the fog that scares me.
that radio scared the hell out of me when i played it! why was my childhood messed up by these games!
The Magical maps reveals where Cheryl is xD Love it xD
nothing instills fear in this game like the ominous whine of static over the radio whenever a monster is nearby
This is my first time seeing this and its already sending a chill down my spine!
Resident evil only made me jump once midway throughout the game!
Lol, what a dialogue...
"Phones and radios are dead.... I'm gonna call some reinforcements.."
:D
Really scary :P
WOW, Thanks for posting the whole game. I bought this game when it first came out about ten years ago. I still liked like my resident evil series better, but I never got to the end of this one. I finally can see what happens. I didnt know they made 3 or 4 following installments of this though.
gotta love how at 4:00 you can see the winged monster flying in the background... you know its coming but you don't know when.
Haven't played Downpour, but you hit the nail on the head otherwise. Silent Hill: Homecoming didn't scare me at all. All the others are at least pretty scary, but none seem to have the ability to join with the first three in the hall of fame.
I like how the radio lets you know when bad guys are coming it saved my ass LoL

AMAZING. Way better than Resident Evil.
Silent Hill 1 and Homecoming are the best. Isnt it scary (6:00) you running and, suddenly that flying demon comes after you? SILENT RULES!
The graphics for the little movie scenes are amazing for the time.
when i was a kid, this was the first time i was scared in a daytime setting. I did'nt wanna leave the cafe. And That RADIO IS USELESS!
There is no point of letting you know a enemy is near if it's real fucking loud.
good work koonami
yeah, you even calm down once you can see the monsters, what is really scary is walking around there knowing that they are watching you and hearing strange things all over the place =D
this is the best silent hill ever made
wow, it's been almost 10 years since you made this video.
I love this game so much.Such a classic x3
I used to enjoy the sound of his foot steps a lot :D
I barely remember this, but when the radio goes off, doesn't the ringing sound signify a flying enemy, and the crackling means an enemy on the ground? Just something I noticed and remembered.
never played a silent hill before... just going through a chain of gameplay vids of each game to see if its something i could get into.
I'm quite bummed I never got to experience this in it's original format and time period. Looks like a really great survival horror.
Was that comment about the in-game vs cutscene graphics being ironic? Because if not, that's some fascinating stuff. Wow.
I'm surprised at how well this has held up, actually.
"The power's out. Take my gun." Minutes Later... "The TV isn't turning on. Is the power out?" xD
You're a fine man, VSL... you're a fine man.
im playing 2 at the mo and it looks amazing, i really hope they remake this one as it would just be the best
The voice actors are fantastic!
Good thing we have the PSN! I will finally be able to plat this game again!
Dude, totally!! I've always felt that way. It almost gives it that Grade B horror type of feel or something.
MASTERPIECE
I miss this!! ;_D
Amm... I have a question... Shattered Memories has the Remastered version of this??
How did you figure out you shouldn't fight the monsters and just went down that alley??!
vacation in silent hill? he will experience all door locked, foggy atmosphere & some 'good' hospitality silent hill had to offer!
Every Silent Hill game ive played they allend up taking place of my favorite games. The only ones i havent played is 4, origins, and shattered memories(which i dont plan on playing)
I can't decide whether to get this or a Resident Evil for my PSP...
agreed, the monsters in Silent Hill are more disturbing then the ones in Resident Evil. Or, it may be because I watched my step-dad play RE: Code Veronica and RE 4 and am used to it. Although those blue vampire-y things scare me 0_0

"that's not a dream... what's happening to this place?"
then he begins to walk normally hahahahahahah
At 4:02, when Harry turns around, you can see the Air Screamers outside flying around.
the best silent hill, hate the other versions and the movie. silent hill 1 the only silent hill!
and boy was it a good experience... too bad i dont have my ps2 hooked up anymore.
@ThassoBertoni90
Didn't you need a play station 1 emulator to play this game?
Or they made a pc release?
I think I'll take your advice mate, I've only played through SH4, nearly clocked it cos Ive reached the "deepest part of him" (wont spoil it for other people if you aint got there yet)
Would try Homecoming, but it dont work with my X1950pro.
peace

the best part is the first when go after cheryl, like in alone in the dark 1 when the zombies are back to you
It looks so dated now, but was such an incredible experience in its day. I really wish they'd do a proper remake of this. (I like to pretend that silly ice world Wii remake doesn't exist).

I was like "Noooono...Don't leave the diner...Noooo don't go into that alley again." DDDX He never frackin' listens ;~;
I just love this game all of them, but I didn't got the ps1 so I couldn't get this game, I hope they make the new version of Silent Hill 1, maybe is getting out for ps2
i agree with you, this game would be amazing with better graphics, althought it is an awesome game already. I beat this game years back at night with lights off and WOW what a creepy experience xD
this is awsome, its like silent hill the movie
Haha yeah me too! I loooooove it!

i think im going to buy this game i was like 3 when this game came out i never played this but i watched my brother and i rember like 2 part of the game but as i watch i rember more
If my radio goes off like that all the time, I'm gonna need to sleep with a baseball bat.
where can i download this game? so i can play it in my computer and one more thing where can i download a emulator of ps1 that can work on windows vista?
This game is so slow.... But it has a nice story and gameplay thx for posting!
5:17 the door..... aahahh~!.. the door is right there... how so silly~.....
Yes it can ^.^ Does your psp have costum firmware?

a question, do you have always to die in the begening?
i love this game.

Why is the sound getting behind further and further?
oh i get what that radio does tells ya if there is a near by creature
i got a big trauma when i was 6 years old playing this game :(
Best survival horror game.
"Huh? Radio?"
*cough*GYROMANCY*cough*
Yes, take the damn radio or you DIE.
See, I'm an idiot, so I would have stayed and fought all the monsters. XD
GO HARRY GO. *hugs Harry* I wish you were in the movie...
with which button fires?
If you went deeper into that alley again or went somewhere else than the game points out more scary shit happens?
i used to play this even with 6 people in my room open door light turned on and no volume still cant play i remember the goofy walk and those dogs
The out of synch sound is rly getting on my nerves but i love watching .
The game is awesome. The only thing I did not like about it is that I had to go back to get certain things. For example, I had the screwdriver but then I had to go back to look for the screws...
Hahaha, I have a "Hairy Mason" in my pants... lol
