    The submariner is more for the average joe that doesn’t know much about watches,they just want the most famous Rolex 😊 The explorer is more for the watch enthusiasts that want something rugged,tool watch that doesn’t scream Rolex

      I would say yes if you are referring to the sub-date version. The sub-non date in my opinion is for the folks who understands the real history of dive watches and wants to be true to the original which has no date.

    Explorer II is more low key and all around, a more “do it all” watch than the Sub.

    Great piece mate. Own the 216570, and its awesome. At least the 226 has that updated 70 hours reserve tho. Recently acquired smp300 and a speedy, and the rolex quality does shine in comparison. Cheers.

    Watch reviewers really need to skip the box and booklets parts of put it at the ends no one cares about a cardboard box.

    Nice video! Glad to see you wearing this tool watch as intended and not being precious about scratches.. I've been wearing my ref 226570 black dial as a daily since new and each scratch makes it more mine.

    Explorer II is really nice, I love the polar dial even more. Really great
    beginner watch like you said.

    My personal preference is my GMT2. I found the Explorer 2 a bit too chunky and heavy for my taste. Also to rotating bezel on my Batgirl is surprisingly handy for figuring a third time zone. I will stipulate that the Explorer 2 is..in my judgement.. more attractive and relatively lighter than the Tudor iteration. Still…taste is always highly subjective. As for first Rolex…I always advise my young collector friends to start the Rolex leg of their journey with the Explorer 1…preferably in the 40mm version. Happy days!

      I have a GMT CHNT rootbeer and I adore it based on being a traveller. But the explorer II has the best of both worlds but it’s abit too bulky for most

    • @impexRQ
      @impexRQ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have the BLNR as well (as you might see on my profile pic) but for traveling … it’s the explorer ii who always comes with me… it’s the perfect traveling companion. The GMT is too loud for traveling this days unfortunately

    I own the Explorer 2 216570 Poler dial and I love it. It’s much more functional than the submariner.

    Awesome Video! but it's too huge for me, I would go for the 16570 all the way.

    Great job on the video, and great pairing up with the Submariner, You managed to inflict some huge gouges in the clasp.
    Just pick up a GMT or Daytona to round out the trio.

    ugh, why are you running the hands backwards when setting the time...

  • @f1shf1ngers24
    @f1shf1ngers24 ปีที่แล้ว

    You’ve got it set at 10 minutes to 2 on both time zones not 10 minutes to 1. That’s not how the orange GMT hand is read

    if you could only keep one between the sub and this black dial explorer 2 which would you keep?

    • @Watchthekettle
      @Watchthekettle  ปีที่แล้ว

      The sub 🙈, it’s more pretty but for functionality I would say the explorer II

    Can i know why you got the black dial even though you already have a black sub?

    • @Watchthekettle
      @Watchthekettle  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I got the explorer II way before the sub. So the sub is more of my casual daily and the explorer II is my travel watch due to the GMT function( and I travel monthly) . I fear it might have less wrist time when I get a GMT master II

      Why bother taking metal off it, 10 year service, maybe consider it after it's dinged to buggery.

    • @michaelriera6277

      Why bother , the scratch and scuffs will just come back.
