  • Why do we fall in love with the people that we do? Dr. Helen Fisher argues that the brain is one of the most powerful systems on earth, responsible for love through chemicals and complex thinking patterns. Her studies have identified both the smitten and broken hearted, uncovering the connection between how humans are drawn towards one another.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

    A very interesting talk, but still it doesn't give the answer to another very important questions: "Why isn't our love always shared"??? According to this theory, if we've chosen a certain type of a person who matches all our characteristics, then he presumably should possess the same characteristics and fall in love with us... The big question to answer for Helen Fisher is: "Why when we're madly in love with smb, we still can be rejected?"
    Hellen, i'll be waiting for your next TED talk on this topic! Good luck with your research!

    Dearest Helen! You NEVER let me down with your amazing information, but more significantly with your great, unique, and genuinely simply human (not high-browed)
    way of teaching and spreading your research to the masses. YOU, and Wade Davis (another personal hero) remind me of how proud we should be as Anthropologists.You always make me want to passionately plunge back into Our Field of Communication! Wait tho`, we never really stop, do we - *wink* Many thanks Helen, for inspiring me yet again!

    I love Helen Fisher, because she talks about, well, love.
    I like the temperament types she uses, though I use different naming: Explorer -> Progressive; Builder -> Conservative; Director -> Masculine; Negotiator -> Feminine.
    I also put Progressive and Conservative in a spectrum, Masculine and Feminine in another. Additionally, I put Oxytocin in a different spectrum.

    Advantages and Disadvantages to each "type" of mind. We "-need" each type of mind! What type of mind do I have? What type do you have? We "need" each other-type!🤔😁😊🦉

    I love her speeches and ideas. I was just thinking yesterday, "why is we fall in love with one person or thing over another. Very informative!

    Cakes, but also what's on each table around the cake gives us information. Good talk and interesting work, by the way.

    I totally love the Explorer cake. Which is weird because that's not my dominant type.

    I think my highest is dopamine, but I'm not sure whether my second highest is estrogen or testosterone (as a male.)

    It seems that we genetic fall into 4 basic personality types.
    I identified with all 4, what does that make me?

    I'm the high estrogen and I find it fascinating that she said that opposites attract with the high oestrogen and high testosterone. The guy that I have a huge crush on (and who seems to like me back) definitely fits the high testosterone description.

      If you're a girl, DUH. Testosterone is what makes the sterotypical 'man' man and the same goes for estrogen the other way.

    • @fizzys5283
      @fizzys5283 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Moko Cono I don't need to be educated on oestrogen and testosterone. I am well aware of what they are. I was simply alluding to the concepts that the speaker brings up. Sheesh.

      @zoobiewa 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Moko Cono If you think men are all testosterone and women are all estrogen, you might need a little education on how these chemical puppet strings are set up.

    • @zoobiewa
      @zoobiewa 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Moko Cono It's not only testosterone that makes the stereotypical man, which you implied.
      So I should like... copy, paste, print out my argument, and make it into rope somehow? Sounds like a lot of work.
