- Why do we fall in love with the people that we do? Dr. Helen Fisher argues that the brain is one of the most powerful systems on earth, responsible for love through chemicals and complex thinking patterns. Her studies have identified both the smitten and broken hearted, uncovering the connection between how humans are drawn towards one another.In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. A very interesting talk, but still it doesn't give the answer to another very important questions: "Why isn't our love always shared"??? According to this theory, if we've chosen a certain type of a person who matches all our characteristics, then he presumably should possess the same characteristics and fall in love with us... The big question to answer for Helen Fisher is: "Why when we're madly in love with smb, we still can be rejected?"

way of teaching and spreading your research to the masses. YOU, and Wade Davis (another personal hero) remind me of how proud we should be as Anthropologists.You always make me want to passionately plunge back into Our Field of Communication! I think am a mixture of serotonin heavy and oxytocin heavy, I like where she's going with her research! I believe she maybe a very high dopamine and oxytocin person! Good luck to her with her genetics research, great stuff :)
I love Helen Fisher, because she talks about, well, love.
I like the temperament types she uses, though I use different naming: Explorer -> Progressive; Builder -> Conservative; Director -> Masculine; Negotiator -> Feminine.
I also put Progressive and Conservative in a spectrum, Masculine and Feminine in another. Additionally, I put Oxytocin in a different spectrum.
Advantages and Disadvantages to each "type" of mind. We "-need" each type of mind! What type of mind do I have? What type do you have? We "need" each other-type!🤔😁😊🦉

I think my highest is dopamine, but I'm not sure whether my second highest is estrogen or testosterone (as a male.)

I'm the high estrogen and I find it fascinating that she said that opposites attract with the high oestrogen and high testosterone. The guy that I have a huge crush on (and who seems to like me back) definitely fits the high testosterone description.
If you're a girl, DUH. Testosterone is what makes the sterotypical 'man' man and the same goes for estrogen the other way.

Well if you live alone and if you don't have any family no Brothers No Sisters no mom cuz she passed away no dad because he's 2000 miles away and you can't live with him because he's a smoker and he smokes inside his place and then never leaves and he's a Hermit why would you want to live with your father and you don't have any children and you live alone at the age of 46 then yes wouldn't you be independent???
