    As a “conservative” I really don’t understand the whole LGBT debate. They are all human beings that aren’t bothering anyone. I think that you should be able to do whatever you want and love whoever you want without being scared or harassed. I may not agree with their choices but it’s “their choice” and we should leave them the fuck alone.

    • @abihart6246

      Telestoe really wish more “conservatives” were open and allowed people to live THEIR truth and life as they please without hate and violence like you! We don’t have to agree on everything but human rights are for all humans

      Telestoe yes!!! Its not hurting anybody and it does NOT affect you. (Btw, as a pan person i can confirm its not a choice. Just wanted to say that. But thank you for sticking up for the LGBTQ+ community. Have a lovely day.)

      Gabby N - “choice” was a poor word. I should have used slightly better vocabulary. I just hate bigots. None of us lead perfect lives, if we were all just a little more kind to one another we could get so much accomplished.

      Why is it so important to cite your sexual credentials in order to express love for a show? That's where the problem lies brother, just love stuff unconditionally.

      @@iemon7722 Eh, it does matter though. While it's fine for a body of work to have a very niche consumer base, it's always worth it to know who is consuming what media, especially when it isn't the assumed or intended audience. As for TV shows that rely on ratings and ad sales, it's important to know who is watching.

    It's much easier to hate something you don't understand than it is to allow your mind to expand. There's also latent social insecurity. "Look at that weird he/she. I am SO normal by comparison, right guys? Who's with me? Cause we're all normal, ESPECIALLY me huh guys?" I have empathy for both groups. Some people don't have the mental flexibility to consider that the rules we've made are subject to change. Never mind that history has never stopped proving that what we know today may not be the case tomorrow.

    • @tenacious645
      @tenacious645 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I can't imagine what else there is to gain from being hateful. Transpeople aren't trying to take anything away from anyone else. So the issue people take with transpeople has to be something intangible. My guess is some of the issue is people don't like having what they believe tested.

    • @tenacious645

      Vin Yala I do too. I don't really understand how someone can be just fine with making someone's life on this planet harder than it has to be by fabricating a rank you can place yourself a top of to bolster your own ego. We only get ONE life. It's so avoidable. They aren't hurting you personally yet you're still content to make their one life on this planet THAT difficult. It just sucks. But that's my opinion. Obviously people are free to do and think whatever they'd like.

    • @katjaw6516
      @katjaw6516 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      tenacious645 Of course you can in now way compare it, but as a vegetarian I also get mocked or meet people who simply can't understand it. I admit that I often get angry with them because I don't try to be cool or different, I am an ecologist and I'm just trying to save the fucking planet, why can't you just let me do that? I just don't get why people always have to feel like you would invade their privacy if you make different life choices. (Or live the way you want to, as you can't really choose to be a member of the LGBTQ community)

    • @MichaelBerthelsen
      @MichaelBerthelsen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Jade Praerie Nope. Your understanding of gender and sex is flawed. Pointing this out is not an ad hominem. Also, please explain hermaphroditism in this dimorphic system of yours. It should be theoretically impossible, unless the system allows for exceptions. And if it allows for exceptions, should those exceptions not be recognized?

    • @MichaelBerthelsen
      @MichaelBerthelsen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Jade Praerie I'm not pushing any ideology. If anyone is, it's you. You're pushing the idea that it's impossible to experience gender dysphoria, as if it doesn't exist at all. I just commented on Trevor's guest, and YOU started an argument surrounding her gender. And when you refuse to accept that it's possible to have a different gender from that assigned due to a person's sex at birth, and start complaining, YOU are the one pushing an agenda or ideology.

    Beautiful woman, and wonderful to work toward opening ppl's minds, and stopping the horrors put upon trans ones. I must say though, I don't like that not-trans ppl are referred to as "cis." It brings to mind "hiss" and just the energy of it seems negative. It's almost like it's labeling all other ppl as being the enemy or something. Clearly many are, but don't put us all in that camp. It's like all the rest of us did something wrong, so in need of this new label. Why not just reference others as, um, other ppl or simply non-trans ones.

      @daisychains6866 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Cis" and "trans" are just Latin.
      Don't you like the sound of the word "white" either? Should we call "white" people just "non-Black"? That would be extremely confusing.
      Btw, I don't like it when people talk about energy of words and other esoteric bs. Makes me feel extremely uncomfortable.

    • @toriarose
      @toriarose 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      F*ck you. Better? Heh. Btw, what are ppl called that aren't albino or dwarfs? Whatever stupid response you have to that, you're wrong. It is the same thing.

    • @daisychains6866
      @daisychains6866 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Omg, what have I done? Critizising your choice of words, just bc they sounded strange and unfamiliar to me personally, was very condescending.
      I didn't even consider if there might be a reason why you're using these words before I dismissed them. I judged solely from my own point of view. I should have accepted that other people might have others, based on their own experiences. Who would do such a thing? Only an idiot. I owe you an apology bc that was very hurtful and mean. No one should be so self-centered to dismiss other people's opinions before knowing a bit about why they have them. I am so, so sorry.

    • @toriarose
      @toriarose 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, don't be so hard on yourself. You were probably having a bad day, and that's why you rabidly attacked me for no reason other than my simply expressing my opinion. "Idiot" is pretty harsh, but then again, you totally sidestepped my counter to your attack (dwarf, albino), so I can see how you would feel like an idiot. Ya' know, in that you haven't a clue how to respond to that very valid point/question. Have a great evening, sweetie ;-)

    • @daisychains6866
      @daisychains6866 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, thank you so much! You really don't need to let me get away that easily. If other people get hurt bc I'm not only ignorant but also totally ignorant of my own ignorance, then I should be at least a bit ashamed of my behavior. It's just not right to be this hostile about a topic I'm not really familiar with.
      I'm afraid, you're right about me not having a clue. I'm not very familiar with the social implications of people who are suffering from height discrimination or who are persecuted for their albinism. I know that people with albinism are murdered or r-p-d in some countries but personally I've only listened to some Salif Keita songs and seen a few Victor Varnado clips and didn't get his humor, that's it. I'm definitively not qualified or able to answer your question about it. So sorry.
      I've a distant friend who has dwarfism though. We always talk about board games and aloholic beverages (or we just play and drink together, obviously) but maybe I should ask him someday if he'd like to talk about me about height discrimination and if I could be unwillingly contributing to it. Or I'll just search the internet for articles in which people with dwarfism or albinism describe their experience. I'll never have first hand experience about these kinds of discrimination but reading about it from different people might give me some clue about what I could do to make this society better and more accepting towards minorities. So learning about height discrimination is way easier for me than learning about discrimination of people with albinism. I'll definitively try it next time I meet him.
      I mean, dwarfism and albinism are currently listed as congenital disorders, so technically the shorthand term "tab" would be an antonym to both in most contexts. I'm not really sure to which extend people with dwarfism and/or people with albinism are part of the disability community bc I'm not really a part of it myself. I gotta ask them nice and friendly, I guess.

I've seen tons with teh actresses, but I did wonder about the writing room a lot, and the show feels that more authentic when you know that trans women are behind the lens as well as in front of them. Anyways, Pose is spectacular. Anyone not already watching it, watch it!

    I guess transmen will just be over here, still invisible and totally unrepresented even in media created by trans people for trans people. The way she talks about really wanting to show trans people's stories makes it sting too, like "trans people" is just a synonym for "transwomen".

    My only hang up with trans people is which pronouns to use. I don't pretend to understand 'em, but I don't exactly _have_ to. 🤷 I don't understand quantum physics _either,_ but I know it _works_ and that's good enough for me. Same deal.

    • @AvgJane19
      @AvgJane19 6 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      lazyperfectionist1 when it comes to pronouns its best to observe what the people they're surrounded by refer to them as, use "they/ them/ theirs" until you figure it out, or simply ask them (if it's appropriate). Just use tact

      Just ask! 😃 If you get someone's pronouns wrong they aren't going to hate you forever and leave it up to some guessing game. If you ask them what they would like to be called, you can call them that, and if they decide to be called something else, you can do that too

      tradition is just repeated behaviour and all of history is important but the more we know about other people that aren't you is valuable, if this history was teached in most schools we would have alot less racists and prejudice filled people in our society. Sorry if you don't see the same value in that knowledge.

      Don't Trust Rainbows You're letting the present change the past. Just because transgender people are becoming more important in society does not mean they have always been. Transgenders were often shunned in the past. You should tell that history and why it happened back then(and why we now think it's wrong).

    • @DTRproductions
      @DTRproductions 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      (ok yet this msg displays yet the previous 1didn't for me, good job YT) i think the present is the most important with historys role being in the case of human history to show how attitudes have changed and the reasons behind conflict, that is why i said its a big part, not of the entirety of history but its role in the present. And i never said they have always been this important but as a trans person i wouldn't have had decades of mental trauma (well not as much atleast) if i was told even just the basics of trans history and gender identity, im pretty sure i would have felt more comfortable in my own skin. Different parts of history are worth more to some than others. tbh i dont think either of us is strictly incorrect.

I've been a lady nerd my entire life, raised by the internet, played Japanese RPGs, read comics, played DnD, etc. I'm also at an age where I've watched and enjoyed the rise of superhero blockbuster films and their role in making my interests and hobbies more mainstream. I actually don't like the DC franchise (prefer Marvel) for the most part but I wanted to see Wonder Woman because I wanted to see myself on screen. And when I saw her being a beautiful valkyrie, I cried for all the little girls who will see this and see themselves in her too, when I had never experienced that validation in my tomboy childhood.

      it's dangerous to normalise a mental illness. Putting trans people in the media will influence a generation of people and kids when really every statistic negates the normality of transgenderism. It will effect the economy and prety much everything, it's a recipe for disaster. Just a look at the sucide rate shows that more than half of people who are trasngender commit sucide, statistics also show that when a child has a transgender parent or parent(s) they are less 15 to 20 times less likley to succeed in school/life as opposed to a man/woman parental relationship
