Rhonda lived a quiet and simple life in a suburb of Los Angeles. She was a neighbor of a friend of mine and no one in the neighborhood knew of her history with Tina Turner. They learned of her career through the obituary and were in complete shock of her life as she never mentioned it.

Ohh my my how she managed to keep silent about the 🌟star ? she probably didnt wanna gain a fame or pride given that ppl will probably disturb and question lots of historical staff about Tina...you could tell that she was over protective of Tina , she even carefull how she answers questions not to tarnish Tina's name oh woow! a real PA which are so rare in this day in age ....

Personal Assistants usually keep their bosses life & schedule confidential or on a need to know basis. And when your boss is famous, this skill set is taken to a whole new level. It sounded as though there were security/safety concerns that she needed to work around (due to Tina being a celebrity). So it doesn’t surprise me that she kept her work life private and didn’t tell anyone. It is ironic that this video showed up in my U-Tube feed because I’ve been wondering who Tina’s assistant was, after Tina passed away. I’m also an assistant which is why I wondered who helped Tina during her busy career.

RHONDA GRAAM - R.I.P. Rhonda Graam (6 February 1944 ~ 13 January 2021) and Thank You for your great work 😭😰😱
I am deeply saddened to hear that Rhonda has died. It was AMAZING getting to know Rhonda just a little bit, and spend some time with her. She was an extraordinary lady on so many levels! How dreadful it is to lose her, not only for Tina Turner and her family, but also within the whole Tina universe , as she was one of the most important people throughout Tina´s life and career.
I am very happy and honoured to have done this Interview with Rhonda Graam in Tennessee a couple of years ago, which from this day on, is a wonderful In Memoriam Tribute to this great lady ❤️
Thank you all very much for watching.

I remember Janis Joplin guesting on the Tonight Show and she was asked who her idols and influences were, one who Janis mention was Tina Turner who at that time was a star among Black's but very few whites knew of her and Janis gave Tina big praises and told the audience to look for her in the future because she was gonna be big , really big .

    • @marvingee39
      @marvingee39 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Not quite true that very few whites knew of Tina when Janis made those remarks. Tina had already been on tour with the Rolling Stones at that time, and had a big hit with "River Deep -- Mountain High" in 1966. Her fame was small-ish compared to her uber-success she enjoyed as a solo act, post-Ike, but she wasn't at all unknown to white music fans.

Rhonda is a phenomenal woman in her own right. She sure smashed some barriers during her career! Being a female manager of any kind (artist manager, tour manager, etc.) in the music business was unheard of in the 1960s. Being a female manager of anything was a rarity back at that time. I think Rhonda may have been the only one in the entertainment industry then. The other thing that Rhonda and Tina broke down is the race barrier that existed during that era. I’m sure there were white male managers of black entertainers, but black male managers of white groups I bet there weren’t near as many. White females-nope. This was BEFORE desegregation!

Yes it was very rare for artists to have a female manager but they existed and flourished and some owned major companies! I can think of three important managers for important artists. Johnny Mathis' manager was Helen Noga, the co-owner of the Black Hawk club in San Francisco where Mathis got his start. The Black Hawk was a setting for several famous recordings from Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Mongo Santamaria, Dave Brubeck, Ahmad Jamal and Cal Tjader and Shelley Manne.
Miriam Bienstock founded Atlantic records with Ahmet Ertegun. She really ran the money aspect of Atlantic and kept it afloat including managing major artists at the label for decades, including Ray Charles, the Coasters and Ruth Brown.
Sue Mengers was such a legendary and formidable talent manager/agent that Bette Midler played her on Broadway. Mengers had a notorious feud with one of her clients, someone named Barbra.

She's correct, she's a performer first, singer 2nd but both equal out of this world talent. She's without a doubt the best & most iconic concert I have ever been to, & 2nd was Celine Dion. Tina had Joe Cocker open for her & that was freaking awesome too. My daughter is 36 years old now & she still talks about seeing Tina & how iconic it was for her. Very good interview with really good questions with an other very strong and interesting woman...I think that Tina is very lucky to have that woman near to her...a match made in heaven...kindda. Being dutch myself it is nice to know that Tina has recorded many songs in Amsterdam and has a special place in her heart for my little country. [EDIT] Just learned she passed on..We are fortunate to have this interview with her. Must be a real blow and loss for Tina..RIP Rhonda

I like how she refused to drag Ike through the mud. Lord knows that's been done enough already. One thing she said that caught my ear (and Tina has acknowledged it, as well) is that she "learned" from Ike. In spite of all the negativity towards Ike, people seem to forget that without him, there would be no Tina Turner.

you can respect the art of the artist and still disapprove of the personal actions of Mr. Turner. Yes, he wrote great songs and put together a great band, was a great musician. Tina was the star of the show; that's just the way it goes. He could've been kinder and not-abusive, and he wouldn't have earned a bad reputation. He's responsible for ruining his reputation and future.

You obviously don't know the Truth. It was Tina who was violent and not ike. When Tina went solo a feminist group thought it was a good idea to reverse Tina's identity or reputation with Ikes. Ike died owned a non profit that helped women get way from domestic violent homes. It was Tina who beat him and other women. Tina actually used to be pimped in Tennessee and she violently abused the girls if they came up short on money. You had to be local in Tennessee to know this about her.
Tina was in showbusiness a long time and Ike is the one who put up his money to get her out of that street life and into show business where she was obviously happier... so a lot of people in Tennessee know the truth about Tina. And since Ike was a huge mentor to kids and the community,a lot of people who know him have big respect for him. He did.have a stint where he did do drugs but he got arrested and wasn't productive. Not violent. According to everyone and this is mostly Church ministers and court judges, they all say that was Tina.

When I turned 18 I went to the Cinnamon Cinder in Long Beach to see the Righteous Bothers. They checked my ID and wished me Happy Birthday. I first saw Tina and Ike at a little hole in the wall dance joint in Santa Ana, CA near Main Place Mall. I was mesmerized. I loved to dance and her music was show stopping. From there they appeared at a more upscale place (but not much) in Costa Mesa called Fat Fingers. I never saw them again in person, darn it, but followed her career the rest of her life. Simply the Best!
