I'm in SW Florida. I was just given 3 young Sesbania Grandiflora trees. I'm going to plant 2 and give 1 to a friend. I have coconut trees too. I just have to wait till they have enough leaves to take some. Thank you for the video and recipe.
Very cool. I would love to taste that. It looks delicious. I got to this video because some weird lookin tree ive never seen before popped up on my property. I identified this tree using an app then i web searched its uses and found this video. Im glad i did because now i have a new recipe to try. Thanks!
You're so lucky. I have to buy it for my garden. It's beneficial to the soil, other plants in the garden and your health as well. FYI: "Sesbania grandiflora, commonly known as Agathi in some regions, is a small to medium-sized leguminous tree that can reach heights of 3 to 10 meters (10 to 33 feet), depending on the growing conditions, local climate, and how it's pruned or managed. It is a versatile and valuable plant for sustainable gardening due to its numerous benefits: 1. **Edible Leaves and Flowers**: Sesbania grandiflora is primarily grown for its edible young leaves and flowers. The tender leaves are used in various Asian cuisines, particularly in salads, curries, and soups. The flowers are also edible and used in culinary dishes. 2. **High Nutritional Value**: The leaves of Sesbania grandiflora are rich in nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and proteins. They provide a valuable source of dietary nutrition. 3. **Fast Growth**: This tree is known for its rapid growth, making it an excellent choice for quick shade, green manure, or as a cover crop in agricultural settings. 4. **Nitrogen Fixation**: Like other leguminous plants, Sesbania grandiflora has root nodules that host nitrogen-fixing bacteria. This process enriches the soil with nitrogen, benefiting neighboring plants and soil fertility. 5. **Soil Improvement**: The fallen leaves and plant debris from Sesbania can be used as mulch to improve soil structure and moisture retention. It also helps suppress weed growth. 6. **Biomass Production**: The fast growth of Sesbania grandiflora makes it a valuable source of biomass, which can be used for green manure or as animal fodder. 7. **Erosion Control**: Due to its rapid growth and deep root system, Sesbania can help control soil erosion in areas with loose or erodible soil. 8. **Wildlife Attraction**: The tree's flowers are a source of nectar, attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies, which can enhance biodiversity in the garden. 9. **Medicinal Uses**: In traditional medicine, various parts of Sesbania grandiflora are used for their potential medicinal properties. For example, they are believed to have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects. 10. **Permaculture Guilds**: Sesbania can be integrated into permaculture guilds or polyculture systems to provide shade, nitrogen, and other benefits to surrounding plants."
traditional srilankan meals are always healthy, we eat green every day , i miss being in sl as im pregnant coz in srilanka we get fresh organic food every day
Another lovely video, and I for one love the absence of music or speaking. Just the crunch of cutting, sizzle of cooking and other ambient sounds. Please keep it that way. One question: what would be a good substitute for those leaves, that I can easily get hold of in Manchester, UK?
This tree is found in Southeast Asian countries and the taste of the leaves is very distinct. You can not get the same taste with any other leaves. But the way she cooked is a type of a stir-fry technique using grated coconut. I lived in the UK some time ago. You could use Kale leaves in a similar way but the leaves should be thoroughly washed and dried and finely sliced and follow all the other steps as seen in the video. I used to do it! 😊
The little girl is such a cutie!! Even when her face is serious, I can't help smiling :-D I am extremely curious to know what that Sesbania Grandiflora Leaves, Coconut, Onion, and Green Chilies tastes like. I'll be doing a little research. Thank you all for sharing your culinary endeavors with us!
I just want you to know I'm from USA Ohio and I love your channel I love watching videos of the women in your village cook their food is so entirely different than the way we cook here I appreciate the modesty and the humbleness Thank you Friend.
I would love to know what that food tastes like . I can imagine it would taste like nothing I have ever tasted in my life. The ingredient combinations are so different and some the ingredients I’ve never even heard of or seen. Looks delicious and healthy.
Love the way grandma prepares food and this is so very healthy and tasty with simplicity. Look at the cute angel 😇 giving her thumbs up. Love her so........ Much. She's the beauty of the whole show. Love her tonnes.
Very delicious and healthy. It is good for pregnant women and their babies/fetus. For those who do not want to become pregnant, it is not 100% but the leave can reduce the chances of getting pregnant as it has contraceptive properties. Thanks for sharing.
Essa garotinha é linda e muito simpática. Amo vê-la comendo junto a essa senhora que cozinha muito bem. Às vezes me pego soboreando essa comida apimentada nham nham nham
These leaves are so very healthy did they even contain all nine amino acids which mean they are a complete protein as well as providing a ton of vitamins and minerals! You can live on these leaves and not suffer any nutritional deficit. :-)
Mom has great knife skills. Tell her to smile a little, the dish she made looks very healthy and delicious. How does it taste, is it bitter or the taste similar to spinach. Your baby girl looking so sweet.
Hi sweetie.so cute. This is agathi keerai. Correct. Had eaten before marriage.we don't get this in this place. Now forgot the taste also.like this keerai very much. Preparation is very good
