My friend, you are the Master of the Rossi 92. I refer to your videos all the time for clearcut, and step-by-step instructions. There's a video put out by a fellow who calls himself the Rossi Master....the DVD is (like another) more shots of him, then of the actual gun. THANK YOU, THANK YOU....Rossi has little or no info, and you helped make the sale- and provide the confidence after the sale. I slicked my rifle up, and all- but the basics of tear down, and the kabuki of reassemble, I owe to you. YOU NEED TO DO a video - a compilation if you will, of all your Tubes, and sell it. I have a 45LC/not the carbine. A great Hog Killer. I am over due in this thanks; but wanted to let you know- take care

Wow, thank you ,I was prompted to make these videos as years ago when I bought my first Rossi there wasn't much info. I have no wish to make money from them just as long as they help others I'm ok with that, glad they helped you and thanks for the kind words, take care, cheers.

Thanks for the video. I want to replace my plastic follower with one made of stainless steel and had no idea how to remove the end cap. Since it was slotted, I had assumed it was a screw and would turn out. Good job!

Well, the screw that holds the end cap of the magazine will not turn… at all. I’ve included Loc-tite loosener until it runs out of the other end, onto the barrel proper and then on the floor. I’ve tried tapping it with a hammer and punch. I’ve tried tapping it while turning (trying) the screw. I’ve tried heating the head of the screw with a soldering iron tip. That screw is not going to turn.
So, tomorrow, that SOB gets drilled out. Yes, drilled out.

Excellent video Thanks. The barrel band screw on my blue 20" would NOT thread into the other side, seems like it is too short. I believe the barrel band is "spring loaded" meaning it needs to be compressed in order to get the thread started. I got a replacement from Taurus and still wouldn't thread. You showed no such problem; can you offer a suggestion how I might be able to accomplish this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in this great little carbine. :)

Hi,sounds a bit odd, the barrel band just slips on and the screw on mine goes in easy without any compression at all ! Just make sure you are going in to the correct side of the band with the screw.Easy to see if screw is long enough, put the screw in the band off the rifle.Make sure threads on screw are not damaged, other than that im not sure whats going on. I do know that the nose cap on the newer rifles can be fiddley. You dont mean the nose cap do you ? If it is the cap there is a small metal block thats been drilled and tapped, mine is drilled off centre so the block has to be the correct way around for the screws to line up, hope that helps, cheers.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. It is the barrel band not the nose cap; I also have a stainless 16" carbine that's smooth as silk and no problems whatsoever; I have not taken it down as yet because I didn't want to risk the same problem. After seeing your videos however; that baby is getting the same treatment as you'rn. I AM going to buy some "rosewood" stain and have at it :) . I'll have to tweak the loading gate, it's very sharp etc (you know). Thanks for all the GREAT information. Yours are by far the best vids on this rifle . From Florida~~~ Cheers.

Thanks for the kind comments, sounds like your going to have some fun :} Easy does it with that loading gate, cheers.

On the loading gate spring I may just thin it on each side "hourglass" style until the tension is less (easy does it for sure) and break the sharp edges with jewelers/gunsmith files and some Arkansas stones. My 20" blue was taken completely down and stoned with a little oil, it is like glass.

One more thing I'd like to ask. The forestock on your Rossi is slender and elegant, in addition to the rosewood finish makes for a very sleek and pretty rifle. My 20" blue is the same it's an LSI Puma. My 16" stainless has a "bulbous" forestock and I will use a belt sander to contour it before refinish. The question is; did you re-contour your forestock or did you get it that way?. any tips will be greatly appreciated. Best Regards,
    Bob.

Hi Bob,it was always slim although I did sand it a fair bit, my advice would be just dont take it too far, see how the wood fits the receiver before sanding, cheers and good luck,Trey.

Thank you Trey. The wood is almost 3mm-4mm "proud" to the reciever. The barrel band came straight off and will screw right back, with no problems. I'll tweak the whole 92 now. I'll have to re-investigate my 20" about that bbl band screw. Thanks so much Trey.

I predict nothing will come of it. If they ban/remove them they will see $$ sail away. And another freemarket startup will be born.. I'M IN!!! save a copy of all your vids.. :)

Thanks for the video. Did that sling attachment come from the factory or did you add that yourself? If you added it, I'd really appreciate a how to. Thanks.

    • @myrossirifle
      @myrossirifle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi thanks for the comment, the sling attachment is home made, filed from a square of aluminium, its a bit rough but does the job, if you send me an email I can send some photos of it, cheers.

@@myrossirifle I was about to ask the same question. I love the saddle ring style, perfectly matches this gun. I didn't find closed full ring swivel for .357 magnum on the market, only for .45.

There are 20' and 16' barrel for this rifle. What made you decide to get the 16' one?

It was hanging on the shop wall at a good price-----no other reason, cheers.
