Joe! You make me want to do more winter camping!!!!! Seriously dude, your videos are gold, and every one of them brings that feeling of bushcraft nostalgia to me. Great job and keep up the good work!!!!!
I love seeing your videos pop up in my YT feed and I can't wait to see how you go building the shelter and well everything else I just love watching you out there. You have inspired me to go out for an overnighter, we just had a tonne of rain here so that delayed my departure and now the mosquitos are insane so I kinda don't want to go out in that. Anyways sorry for rambling so much I just wanted to leave a comment because I know that helps your channel out. Cheers From Australia :) -J
The YNOT bag is amazing! I use it for every day carry and recreational use too. Holds all I need for two day hammock camping, or carrying my lab top and textbooks. Great bag.
Hi Joe.. I live in a tropical land and I can't imagine what it's like camping surrounded by snow. Great video as always, I'm looking forward to see the actual video.
Nice.. similar gear. We have made several winter trips.. but a moving camp staying in a different camp every night. Temps about the same at night but much warmer in the day and snow only a couple of time and not much of course we are on mules and stay longer . I have some videos on the trips but not gear videos.. looking forward to the others Thanks!
Damn Joe, when I saw those three butchers packs all I thought was STEAK STEAK STEAK. I regularly pack two steaks when winter camping a weekend. Worth the weight and a winter luxury.
literally just found your channel dude. I watched one video and subbed. I watched the one where you had a camp out in the winter around February of this year is when you uploaded it. keep the good content coming.
it's nice to see guys who advocate using an axe.....its like it's become extinct in a way. I was up in the rockys in colorado for 2.5 months in fall through winter and my axe was my best friend. and glad to see you got a back up fire steel ;)
So I'm thinking about what your laying that down sleeping bag on top of so it doesn't get destroyed. No wool blanket , sleeping pad , tarp ?? Yikes , definitely looking forward to the rest of this video. I want to see what you build and how comfortable you are on this trip. Peace
Excellent vid. So interesting to see a pretty minimalist gear load out for winter conditions. Really look forward to thr next vid. Hope you kept warm... ish! Atb vee
Shut the hell up, Get to work, and Good Luck Joe! Anxious to hear how this turns out for you. If you need any assistance just let me know. Please allow 6-8 weeks for assistance.
Awesome video joe, can't wait to see what type of shelter you built ! I love building shelters too, in the process of making a winter wickiup right now. Take it easy buddy !
I'm definitely following you on this one. I live south east of you on the other side of the lake in beautiful north eastern Ohio. Interesting choice of gear, which pretty much decided your course of action. Build your own. I still would've packed a tarp at the least. Too many ways this "C" is useful. Good call on the food. Lots of protein. You might want to consider adding more carbs tho... either rice or potatoes. Good choice on the booze too. Let's see how this turns out.
Looks like you will have a great time. Since moving away from home (Hamilton Ontario ) l have lived in tropical areas. Currently calling Tasmania (below the Roaring 40's, def. Not tropic) home. We do get snow in winter but nothing like my childhood memories. Miss that type of camping qnd the quietness that only snow covered ground can offer.
Your the man bro!!! Where is your dog? The added warmth from him sure would come in handy at nightfall. Keep warm and enjoy. Will be waiting on next vid bro.
Awesome bro. Looking forward to the actual trip. Which I'm gonna see now 'cause it's already there! It's good to build up some videos and then see a bunch of them :D
Looks like an awesome camping adventure Joe! Love that whiskey and dat steak mang!! YUM!! Can't believe how mild it still is, this time of year eh?! Cheers fella!
Hope you don't sweat too much while building your shelter. If it gets too cold, I'd use that emergency blanket inside the sleeping bag to get that extra few degrees of warmth.
Gday Joe, Please consider establishing a outdoor adventure company. Your knowledge, communication, & personality are a sure fit as a respected survivalist. Best wishes.
Some great gear Joe! Ordered your patch from Malcom. Hopefully getting here soon. Can't wait to slap it on the German Alpine Ruck. You're Definitely eating well haha. About to tune in to the next vid
Awesome man! Good gear and location, but I would have chosen only one big stainless steel bottle (eg. 32oz Klean Kanteen) as there's plenty of water around you :) and get more food instead of a second bottle. Anyway, can't wait to see what you do, I'm kind of addicted to watching bushcrafting / camping vids to be honest :D PS: Looking to do something like this myself very soon :)
Man I LOVE that Fjallraven shirt, wish they were a bit cheaper. Edit: They're actually cheaper than I thought. Problem is they're sold out everywhere. Should have bought one awhile back.
Hello Joe, the Gwynedd Mercy University men's lacrosse team would like to thank you for all the videos we watch them all the time. if you could take a bottle of jager out one day with you it would mean a lot to us.
I've been looking for a good backpacking saw and the Boreal 21 looks like a pretty solid choice. I looked them up online and there are a variety of blades to choose from. I was wondering what blade you run on it. You see to use it for green wood cutting to make shelters and also dead wood for firewood. Any experience with different ones?
question - what whould you think abt my food 4 outside, rice, parmesancheese, l cook 100gramm rice and in the end l give a teaspoon of fine grounded cheese into in the water, it get sucked in the rice, this is maybe not the best food but not heavy and works for 8 to 10 meals
awesome loadout. i am looking forward to see how you coped the night with this small sleeping bag. i guess i would have freezed to death :P
Survival Lilly you are subscribed to this guy too.

Going through a replay & yeah, this is exactly why I started watching ya years back!
I love seeing your videos pop up in my YT feed and I can't wait to see how you go building the shelter and well everything else I just love watching you out there. Joe that is awesome. We don't have snow in Florida so I have to bring totally different stuff. Love it.

Hi Joe..
I live in a tropical land and I can't imagine what it's like camping surrounded by snow.
Great video as always, I'm looking forward to see the actual video.
The steak sounds good, but the best meal is going to be the sausage, potatoes, onion, garlic pouch! ...And the Whiskey, of course ;-)

I love the rack you cook your food on. Where can I get one? It looks so easy to tote around and seems to do the job just fine.
Can't wait for the sequel.
Finally some Celsius to Fahrenheit conversions... it's the little things, thanks Joe.
Hope you don't sweat too much while building your shelter. If it gets too cold, I'd use that emergency blanket inside the sleeping bag to get that extra few degrees of warmth.

We had some snow here in southern NB around Saint John, but it melted by 12 noon. It was only about two cm
Awesome man! Good gear and location, but I would have chosen only one big stainless steel bottle (eg. 32oz Klean Kanteen) as there's plenty of water around you :) and get more food instead of a second bottle. Anyway, can't wait to see what you do, I'm kind of addicted to watching bushcrafting / camping vids to be honest :D

I've been looking for a good backpacking saw and the Boreal 21 looks like a pretty solid choice. I looked them up online and there are a variety of blades to choose from. dry seasoned wood blade, cuts through green just fine.
question - what whould you think abt my food 4 outside, rice, parmesancheese, l cook 100gramm rice and in the end l give a teaspoon of fine grounded cheese into in the water, it get sucked in the rice, this is maybe not the best food but not heavy and works for 8 to 10 meals
