I agree. I think the front looked really generic on the pre-refresh G70. I really love the slightly outrageous grill on the new one, especially with no front plate on it. Prefer the refresh headlights also. The only thing I don't care for is the black plastic diffuser out back. I don't think it looks especially premium. But overall, I'm happy with the styling. One commenter said the pre-refresh looks like some generic sedan out of Grand Theft Auto.
I think the reason the new Genesis design language on this vehicle looks a bit "off" because it wasn't designed from the ground up with the new language. The side/main body is still the old design lines, so it doesn't look as cohesive as the other models.
I think the current design is spot on. It’s unique and modern without looking like it’s trying too hard or looking weird for the sake of attempting to be different. It’s distinctively genesis and communicates a familial design language. This car had few downsides tbh, i had one for teo weeks and i loved it! For my money. I’d take this. The m340i is off the table because it’s rwd for that price. You’ll get no where in the winter with that. And 13g more for the awd bmw is a no because I wouldn’t have 13g more. Lol
It's strange the US doesn't get the full digital cluster. Other markets have had it since 2018. Also, you can see in the video, the V6 had the napa leather package. That pattern on the 2.5T was the one used for the regular leather. Just LOVE this car! Still a good value and a great driving car!
I TRULY miss my leased 2019 Genesis G70 V6 RWD. It was an awesome vehicle which did NOT need AWD and I feel the styling on the earlier models is much better than the 2022 refresh.
From 2019-2021, you could get a loaded base engine model, only things missing were the Brembo brakes and adaptive suspension (and power trunk for 20-21 models). Price was also fantastic, just above $40K fully loaded, but now $50K and under equipped, and even on the V6 no more heated rear seats and adaptive headlights, value isn’t what it used to be. I would have to agree, the 2019-21 models looked better on the outside too, though I can appreciate the full LED exterior lights.
Still no full digital display (old analog gauges were better than this new half one) and now it’s $50,000 for a 4 cylinder and nearly $60,000 usd for a 3.3. That is insane! The entire point of genesis was value and now they don’t offer that anymore. I’d get a BMW for that price.

Two months ago I bought a 24' CT4 Cadillac Sport with the Onyx Package. It came with 19' wheels blue Brembo brake calipers and run flat tires. One would have to look twice to distinguish it from a Blackwing.
I’m probably in the minority that think this is the best looking of all of the Genesis vehicles. The curves of the design work better than the sharper lines on the other models. Also a bit disappointed that Genesis didn’t also swap the 3.3T V6 for the 3.5T V6
For some reason unknown to me, the design language for Genesis is off on the front end of this model. Just my opinion. I mean, its okay, but visually it just doesn't seem settled. I don't know what it is...
It's because it's not an all new model but rather a refresh using the newer design language on the front/rear while the side profile is still the old design language. It's incongruent.
I’ve always liked these I like the pre face lift version better I’m not to crazy about the headlights a full digital display would be nice but I think there kinda getting out of hand with these big ass screens just stuck on the dash but that’s what all the carmakers are doing
I have a 2021 Genesis G70 Sport AWD. Fully loaded it was 51. Coming to the end of the lease in the coming months and debating if I go for a 2024 G70, or swap for the BMW M240i. I have 30k on my Genesis and it's been pretty decent. Only issues is the dark trim has a weird buildup on it from car washes and looks bad. I agree I like the exterior of the predesign as well, but the screen really dates the interior.
The 10.25" display in the middle is fine it got wireless CarPlay & Android Auto for 2024. It also would've helped if it got a full 12.3" digital gauge cluster for 2024 to replace the asymmetrical half analog & half digital gauge cluster which does have the Blind Spot View Monitor on the right side of the cluster when you have the 360° camera system
Competitive at mid-40k for the 4 popper, and $50k-ish for the 6 cylinder, but in truth there are better options at actual pricing. 100% right about the older look being much better than this “refresh.”
Perfect sub 50/60k car depending on engine choice. It looks great, there’s tech but not too much and it appears to drive well. A similar 4cyl Audi or BMW is gonna be over $50k. Even an equivalent Lexus ES is gonna be at or above $50k. Car prices aren’t what they used to be.
I finally saw the refreshed model, and although looks are subjective I think it looks great. For the money, you can't get anything from BMW, MB or Audi as trssted. They're all going to be in the mid to high 50's for what you get in the G70 for high 40's.
I love my 23 3.3 t sport prestige its a fun car n i own corvettes a 24 x5 a 24 Rubicon 4xe and its fun its kinda a sleeper because no one really knows what it is until it takes off 😂
not everyone (and by everyone I mean easily 90% of your viewers) cares about sports features of the car. We want to hear more about the comfort levels while driving, wheel and tire noises while driving, wind noises, cabin noises, quietness levels.
I had been waiting a long time for reviews on this, considering purchase. Why it took Genesis until Feb. to get this minimal refresh on the road is hard to fathom. Glad I ran out of patience long ago and bought an AWD Ionic 5 as this car's acceleration seems not significantly better than with old 2 liter. Too thirsty as well compared to this engine in the Stinger and K5 GT probably due to the big wheels.
The engine is a bit underwhelming. 300hp/311lb-ft 0-60 5.9s. Competes directly with Cadillac CT4-V (non Blackwing) on price which gives you 325hp/380lb-ft 0-60 4.8s. But if you don't care about that, the Genesis does have a nicer interior.
They've been selling Genesis cars since 2008, not 2017. Hyundai didn't make it a "stand alone" brand until 2017 because of the recession that was going on in the late 2000's. The Genesis coupe, sedan and a crossover (Veracruz) were very good at launch.
I don't care about brand; I care about the smiles per dollar. I have the 3.3T RWD (2022) version of this car and it is an absolute riot. The look, the feel, the sounds, what a car. Then I think about how much I paid and the fact that this twin turbo hooligan has a 100K powertrain warranty. GTFO, what a thing! Just be prepared to spend serious dollars in gas because once you learn how to optimally paddle shift in sport+ there is no going back.
If they aren’t including the fully digital 3d dash from the other models then it’s way less of a value than it used to be. Total cop out move by Genesis.
I'm hoping the actual 0-60 is around 5 seconds flat. I say that because the Sonata Nline and K5 GT can do 0-60 in 5 seconds flat with a 290hp and 311lb ft version of this engine along with a DCT. They also weigh about 3500-3600lbs. I imagine the G70 2.5T weighs around 200-300lbs more, but I assume the AWD/RWD traction would help it launch harder. I'll be a bit disappointed if the car does anything more than 5.5 seconds when caranddriver or motortrend tests it. I know not everything is numbers, but this engine always impresses in any car its put in. Everything from a 3500lb FWD sedan to a 4900lb AWD luxury SUV, the engine provides a good amount of power and decent MPG close to the European cars, unlike the larger V6 engines. It's also port and direct injection which is nice. Caranddriver got 0-60 in 5.6 sec and 1/4-Mile in 14.1 sec @ 99mph for the GV80 that weighs 500lbs more than a G70 AWD. I expect good numbers from the G70 2.5T
Not sure why they didn't do 12-inch display for odometer as an optional package. To me that's the deal breaker as our other Hyundai vehicle has full digital version, and this makes the driving experience not consistent across the family.
@porfiriato84 That's not even a 4 door. How you going to "c'mon" me and throw me a car that's not even in the same segment as the g70 lol. Mildly luxury? It has lexicon audio which only can be found in Rolls Royce and no other brands.
@@kuvyoghmoobamelica6883 what's the purpose of having 4 doors when you have the same amount of backseat space as the 230 😂 Either way I would say they are somewhat similar due to both being RWD. In the end the 230 is a better value than this slower G70. AND BMW's iDrive8 is loads better than what Genesis offers.
@porfiriato84 A base 230i (non m line) is $39,000 with the most basic stuff. Doesn't even come with brembo brakes. A fully optioned 230i is upwards $50,000.
Same question I have. I test drove both. The TLX looks and feels bigger but versatile meaning very comfy and sporty. The g70 driving dynamics are a bit sportier than the TLX and comfy as well. It also now has more HP than the TLX if that matters to you. Dealership experience? I’ll go Acura/Honda all the way.
Does the 2.5t actually get the LSD? The new engine would be compelling if it did because @savagegeese showed the open diff rwd just spin the inside wheel. Neither the prior 2.0 G70 or 2.5 stinger got the LSD. Stunning design imho.

I still have my Kia Stinger GT. Those wheels will look good on my car.
Dear Genesis,
Please give us the G70 Shooting Brake.
Sincerely, the US Market
It's not coming here dude.
@@porfiriato84 obviously.
Hanging on to my 2019 3.3 Twin Turbo AWD...
With 50% increase in insurance cost in 2023 is why made the choice to go with a SUV. I don't really care for it.
I prefer the look of the pre refresh also… especially at the rear.
Could u do a review on the 2024 hundai sonata n line
How’s the drive compare to 2023? I like the rims more on 23
When I was younger 0 to 60 seemed important. Now that I am 82 I am more concerned with 60 to100.
I like the older look better
3:02 Kawaahahaha!!! Sounds like the song down with the sickness by rock band Disturbed
I like the interior design so much more than the GV70. Some might find it a little bit boring but I just don't like all of the ovals in the GV
I still like sedans! 👍🏽
You can turn the stability control and traction control all the way off, though you probably won't want to very often.
Competitive at mid-40k for the 4 popper, and $50k-ish for the 6 cylinder, but in truth there are better options at actual pricing.
100% right about the older look being much better than this “refresh.”
better options like what?
Perfect sub 50/60k car depending on engine choice. It looks great, there’s tech but not too much and it appears to drive well.
A similar 4cyl Audi or BMW is gonna be over $50k. Even an equivalent Lexus ES is gonna be at or above $50k. Car prices aren’t what they used to be.
I finally saw the refreshed model, and although looks are subjective I think it looks great. For the money, you can't get anything from BMW, MB or Audi as trssted. They're all going to be in the mid to high 50's for what you get in the G70 for high 40's.
Did the 230i die??
@@porfiriato84 not in the same class, hence no one mentioned the A3, CLA, Integra or tweener CT4 either.
Great review but I do need to correct one thing you mentioned. I just bought a 2.5 T last week with AWD, and it DOES have the coasting feature.
I love my 23 3.3 t sport prestige its a fun car n i own corvettes a 24 x5 a 24 Rubicon 4xe and its fun its kinda a sleeper because no one really knows what it is until it takes off 😂
People gonna complain that it doesn't have digital dash, to having great value for money outweighs any little screen
I like the G70 one of my favorite car of all time
not everyone (and by everyone I mean easily 90% of your viewers) cares about sports features of the car. We want to hear more about the comfort levels while driving, wheel and tire noises while driving, wind noises, cabin noises, quietness levels.
Okay Nostradamus
Very much interested in the option for the G70 Hybrid. Not fully electric.
Love my G7022, ready for a G70 Hybrid
I had been waiting a long time for reviews on this, considering purchase. Why it took Genesis until Feb. to get this minimal refresh on the road is hard to fathom.
Glad I ran out of patience long ago and bought an AWD Ionic 5 as this car's acceleration seems not significantly better than with old 2 liter. Too thirsty as well compared to this engine in the Stinger and K5 GT probably due to the big wheels.
Yes they do offer the blind spot cams i have it on the sport prestige 3.3t
Bentley inspired blue 😂
19:00 please correct me if I'm wrong but only the highest trim on the 6 cylinder is available with an adjustable suspension option
Nice colour but looks like a bubble, pre refreshed looks better
The engine is a bit underwhelming. 300hp/311lb-ft 0-60 5.9s. Competes directly with Cadillac CT4-V (non Blackwing) on price which gives you 325hp/380lb-ft 0-60 4.8s. But if you don't care about that, the Genesis does have a nicer interior.
My 2011 Infiniti G37 non turbo can do 0-60 in 5.3 sec. It was $35k new loaded.
.... and ??
@@bigden2755 genesis sucks.
@@bigden2755 genesis is POS.
They've been selling Genesis cars since 2008, not 2017. Hyundai didn't make it a "stand alone" brand until 2017 because of the recession that was going on in the late 2000's. The Genesis coupe, sedan and a crossover (Veracruz) were very good at launch.
Obviously that's what he meant dude
@@porfiriato84 Whatever ...... dood.
Do it burn oil
I don't care about brand; I care about the smiles per dollar. I have the 3.3T RWD (2022) version of this car and it is an absolute riot. The look, the feel, the sounds, what a car. Then I think about how much I paid and the fact that this twin turbo hooligan has a 100K powertrain warranty. GTFO, what a thing! Just be prepared to spend serious dollars in gas because once you learn how to optimally paddle shift in sport+ there is no going back.
As someone who works from home, I won't really have to worry about "spending serious money on gas" i probably drive like 5k miles a year 😅
If they aren’t including the fully digital 3d dash from the other models then it’s way less of a value than it used to be. Total cop out move by Genesis.
Ancient as hell
For the increasecsost and refresh they should have carried over the gv70 interior design
When will you be testing the 2024 BMW M35 X1 ?
I would definitely buy 2-3 years used and let someone else take the depreciation hit.
9:05 what do you mean? Power tilt telescope steering wheel has been standard on Mercedes for decades.
From the side, it looks identical to a 2019 Buick Regal
can you do a review on a 330e?
that grill is a deal breaker...
With a ecu tune could be a fun car.
For the price, its simply a smarter decision to get a slightly used V6 model for around 42K or even less.
Every screen looks small when it’s not 32 inches of distraction 😂😂😂😂😂🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Seems like a good prospect if you can buy one of these used for 10% off
I'm hoping the actual 0-60 is around 5 seconds flat.
Try using Launch mode for 0-60 times
Not sure why they didn't do 12-inch display for odometer as an optional package. To me that's the deal breaker as our other Hyundai vehicle has full digital version, and this makes the driving experience not consistent across the family.
Pretty slow considering it's 300 HP
It's a luxury car. Which car do you think within the 40-50k that gets this kind of luxury and faster?
@@kuvyoghmoobamelica6883 it's mildly luxury c'mon man.
But I will say that the BMW 230i with 255 HP and costs 10k less is faster and gets better MPGs.
@porfiriato84 That's not even a 4 door. How you going to "c'mon" me and throw me a car that's not even in the same segment as the g70 lol. Mildly luxury? It has lexicon audio which only can be found in Rolls Royce and no other brands.
@@kuvyoghmoobamelica6883 what's the purpose of having 4 doors when you have the same amount of backseat space as the 230 😂
Either way I would say they are somewhat similar due to both being RWD.
This or the Acura TLX ?🤔
Same question I have. I test drove both. The TLX looks and feels bigger but versatile meaning very comfy and sporty.
The g70 driving dynamics are a bit sportier than the TLX and comfy as well. It also now has more HP than the TLX if that matters to you.
Dealership experience? I’ll go Acura/Honda all the way.
TLX
A spec vs 2.5? Acura . Type S or top trim V6 G70 ? Genesis
*5.9* sec. 0-60?? My 2017 Audi A4 with a 252 hp. 2-liter turbo 4 was tested at *5.2* sec. by Car & Driver.
Does the 2.5t actually get the LSD? The new engine would be compelling if it did because @savagegeese showed the open diff rwd just spin the inside wheel. Neither the prior 2.0 G70 or 2.5 stinger got the LSD. Stunning design imho.
Dam should I get the 2.5 or 3.3? I don’t think the 0-60 will be much of a difference.
2.5 will save you some gas.
doesn't the Integra Type-S have more HP? feels like the same segment
Type S can compare to the 3.3 version which has more hp than the type s
In my opinion this, the Infiniti q50 and the Lexus IS look the best in there segment
I agree for the Q if we speak looks. (ex owner) Having owned both ( '23 3.3 top trim) the G70 is in a different league... believe me
Where is the full digital display? Looks dated.
Apparently, it is now, in Canada....
Love this car I feel like a maxima is faster tho
