Watching through the blur of tears as I cry into my coffee. We lost two beloved, irreplaceable Aussies in Olivia and Judith Durham 3 days apart last year. Thank you for keeping them alive in our hearts and memories.❤
When this show played at the Newcastle Entertainment Center in New South Wales, I was part of the First Aid Team. Before the show during the sound checks I had the honor to be able to sit down with John, Olivia And Anthony for a coffee and chat for about 20 minutes. Just great down to earth people. Something I will always remember.
It’s so hard to believe Olivia isn’t with us anymore, and No one knows if John will sing again.. However we are so grateful he’s ALIVE. And recovering from his huge op. They have both left a legacy of wonderful music that the rest of the world is discovering thru all you reactionists and we thank you for that so much.Thank you genius John and beautiful Livy for this lovely memory ,pitch perfect of course. We love you, from Australia.♥️💙🌹🙏🏽✝️🇦🇺
John and Olivia toured togther a few times over the years, and have released a couple of CDs togther. Both were number one hits and went gold or platinum. The Last CD was 2016 and went instantly to number 1, as both artists are loved and highly respected I Aus.
Another great duet is John with Jimmy Barnes from Cold Chisel singing When Something is Wrong With My Baby, this is a song from Jimmy's Soul Deep album. The best live performance is from the 1991 ARIA Awards.
It. Is a beautiful song which is sung by them with such feeling. They also sang a duet at the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. The song is Dare to Dream. It is beautiful as well. They also toured together in 2015 and sang Dare to Dream again. Their voices were just as beautiful. Another song I love of John’s is Looking Through a Tear from his Jack of Hearts tour. There are endless choices.
I can never go past a reaction to this song, because it's one of the best I've ever seen. Never fails to bring a tear to this Aussie's eye. Great reaction.
This is just glorious. ONJ is my all time fave female artist and I so wanted to be her growing up in Australia and John Farnham, well what can I say other than he is an extraordinary artist with a heart of pure gold with a voice to match. Nothing better than these 2 gorgeous souls performing together. I'm still crying with grief :( Much love xx
I am an Australian and really appreciate the people who visit John's songs and enjoy him so much. He is THE VOICE. Olivia and John were long time friends - our musos do that. And with John you never had to hope he hit the note - ever. To have had part of his jaw removed is the cruelest blow. And sadly they think it was because he smoked all his life. If I could wave a magic wand for one thing it would be for John and Olivia to sing together again.
Have you notice how far away his mike is - his power and they were great mates since the 60's. John and Olivia are the most genuine and passionate superstars ❤❤❤
These two were such good friends, and seeing them together again is lovely. If you want typical Australian pub rock, look at early INXS stuff. Michael Hutchence is another legendary musician we lost before time.
Beautiful song written by Graeham Goble (friend and former bandmate of John in Little River Band) elegantly performed by our golden duo and wonderful orchestra.
Thank you for your reaction and appreciation of our phenomenal Aussie treasures, John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John! 🎶💕 Please also watch them both singing together: ‘Dare to Dream’ at the Sydney 2000 Olympics!👌🌏🫶👍👏🥰🕊🎶🌈🍀🤞💕
Welcome to “Farnham in Wonderland” Now that you are in the rabbit hole and each turn you make will be an unforgettable experience!! Thank you God for creating JF & ONJ they are two earth Angels that are here to spread love to this sad world 😢😇
Thoroughly enjoyed watching your reaction to 2 simply amazing Aussies. John and Livvy RIP. You did the various genres of music. You mention a genre and I swear John can sing it. Any song at all and he kills it.Led Zeppelin's Black Dog he knocks out of the park. It's only version sadly has no video. John and his band, used that song to sound test before performing. It's amazing.
I grew up watching a young Livvy singing on the Saturday Night tv variety show "The Penthouse Club" and a young Johnny Farnham breaking into the Charts singing Sadie The Cleaning Ladie in the style of a new Tommy Steel. I watched develop into who they became, and who they really were. This was just them being them.
Pure talent and so emotive. Loads of Aussie Pub Rock bands so a couple of favourites of mine are Moving Pictures song”What about Me?” The Black Sorrows singing “Never Let Me Go”. Daddy Cool’s “Eagle Rock”. So many other great bands I will let others shout out their favourites.
A granny in Australia says...I've watched about 60 reactions to Farnsey, and you are the first person to say the "sexy" word out loud. He was born in England, but somehow transformed into the sexy Australian tradie boy to man, thick, muscled neck, blond sun-kissed hair, an expressive mouth and bedroom eyes. Any Australian woman will explain.
John sings all genres well. You haven't heard his Black Dog Led Zeppelin cover yet that he does as a sound check and warm up before shows. WOW! Also opera Grenada with Anthony Warlow from this same concert. ACDC cover Long Way to the Top with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
You need to watch our Guy Sebastian - he will blow your head off. There are many to choose from, but his song "I'm Standing with You" is one of my favourites.
Awesome respectful reaction. Us ‘Ozzies’… LOVE our Ozzie artists. John is a part of the great big beautiful Ozzie family. Shoutout to everyone who is spreading the word about our music❤️🇦🇺👍🏼 btw if you like rap look at our Kasey Chambers, she’s done a cover of Eminem’s Lose Yourself. Make sure to watch to the end because the start is a little deceiving…😊 it’s blowing peoples minds.🤯😱❤️🇦🇺 in 1 of your last videos I commented you were on the edge of a deep deeeep rabbit hole! Reacting to John. I see you understand now😆😆
John didn't hit it big oversea because he didn't want to stay away rom family by touring overseas he can sing anything check out black dog which is his warm up song also Grenada and Gethsemane as an Australian I'm so proud of him
Oh this really pulls on my heartstrings. Yes genuine love and respect between them as they have been friends for many years. John though is still married to the love of his life 'Jilly' really appreciate your great analysis and kind words. In regards to not mentioning 'Metallica' and John in the same sentence lol Now you have to go and check out John and his incredible band doing their pre show warm up with their jaw dropping performance of Led Zeppelins' "Black Dog" sadly no vision only audio.. But I can't wait to see your reaction lol. th-cam.com/video/F2Yi6TVi-sU/w-d-xo.html
❤❤❤Try also watching more from this Magical concert called ‘The Main Event’ with the phenomenal John Farnham, the beautiful Olivia Newton-John and the superb Anthony Warlow! Try :‘Somewhere over the rainbow’, ‘Grenada’, ‘Bad Habits’ & ‘Help’ for a start?
This was the Main Event Concert, John and Livvie did that concert for 3 months with Anthony Warlow because he had just come through some horrible cancer treatment. This whole concert is on TH-cam. Anthony is famous in his own right, he is Opera and always the lead in the best stage musicals. It is funny and sad to watch it now. John and Anthony sing Granada which is Opera so if you think he hit those notes watch that one. John and Livvie started out together in Australia. They have always been our family along with John’s best friend and Manager Glenn Wheatley plus both of their families. We lost Glenn last March to complications from Covid the week they told his wife and John he was coming back. So Australia lost Olivia, Glenn and Judith Durham last year. I remember John in an interview telling us he had permission from his wife Jilly to kiss Olivia once a day for 3 months. They are all incredibly kind and good people. Now I cannot see my screen. This song was one of John’s solos and I didn’t know it was one of his until my daughter announced what she was singing and told us it was one of John’s in a big song contest. She won that contest and one of the Judges wrote she never liked him but now she was going home to listen to all she could find of him. I have a Christmas album by John and Livvie, they have recorded many songs together. Thank you.
Love your content and reactions. Hey Johnny not sure if you have already seen John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes together singing 'when the war is over' live.
Aussie pub rock (otherwise known as my teenager years) - any Cold Chisel or AC/DC (they used to play at the local High Schools). People will add Midnight Oil but I was never a fan - a starter list The Angels - No Secrets Australian Crawl - The Boys Light Up Dragon - April Sun In Cuba Divinyls - I Touch Myself Skyhooks - Women In Uniform Jon English - Hollywood Seven (Jon also wrote a brilliant rock opera - Paris) Split Enz - I See Red
Great reaction. Now you are opening a can of worms, asking for suggestions for Aussie music. I'm a 70's chick. There is a huge catalogue of Stars over the year. We also had music from England and USA. I remember fan Girling over Abba as a young girl. They have had a concert with Olivia and Andy Gibb in the past and that is available on You tube. RIP to both Livvy and Andy. Imagine that talent on one stage! Of course the other Gibb brothers with the Bee Gees....now they did live in Australia for part of their lives but born in the Isle of Mann. We had pop stars like Marcia Hines in the 70's, John English (music, Broadway and TV star RIP) with Get your love, Doug Parkinson RIP (Try Dear Prudence, a Beetles cover), The Little River Band with both Glenn Shorrock and John Farnham, Axiom with a Little Ray of Sunshine (lead singer also Glenn Shorrock), Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs (before my time but he can sing)...The Easybeats, The Master Apprentices, check out a music contest called Hoadley's Battle of the Sounds in 1971(Jimmy Barnes had a stint in that band along with his older Brother Swanee who had a couple of his own hits too). The top three of the 1971 contest is on YT. The other two in the contest that year were Jeff St John who has an excellent voice and a few hits of his own and Sherbert with lead singer Daryl Braithwaite. Daryl has had some hits too, especially Horses. Then you have Midnight Oil, Rose Tattoo, The Angles, Brian Cadd with Ginger Man, Richard Clapton (there are videos where Jimmy Barnes is singing backup for him...they are mates). The band Skyhooks with lead singer Graham "Shirley" Strachan (said Strawn). There is a sound check which is a pearler (Aussie slang for good). 80's was a great era too. INXS, Australian Crawl, Monday Rock, Split Enz and Crowded House, Kate Cebrano who was the lead singer in I'm Talking, and has had a solo career...she was in the 1992 Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar with John Farnham and Jon Stevens who was the lead singer of Noiseworks. They were another band I followed....Mahalia Barnes (Jimmy's Barnes daughter) and Diesel, Jimmy's brother in law are also great. Then there is Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodram, Divinyls, Jessica Mauboy. Dami Im, Matt Corby, Gotye and Kimbra live. The list goes on, but my favourite go to YT clip is a song performed at a tribute concert for Andy Durant RIP back in 1980. Jimmy Barnes, some of Chisel, members of the band Stars of which Andy was a singer and guitarist of, Richard Clapton and Broderick Smith from the Dingoes and others, sing Knocking on Heaven's Door, a Bob Dylan tune. Now that is the pinnacle of musicianship right there. Enjoy the journey 🎉🎉🎉
G’day Johnny, check out The Cosmic Psychos :- Nice day to go to the pub. Live at The Tote 2012. Awesome pub rock band. Great Melbourne band said to have influenced the Seattle grunge sound. L7, Mudhoney, Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain are huge fans.
John Farnham is a legend that both New Zealanders & Aussies love this icon can sing any genre of music as you will see. Here's another song John sings his version of th-cam.com/video/BekbvlLzMWc/w-d-xo.html this is the best he's sung this one in my opinion.
Why not have a look at The Choirboys. Run To Paradise. If you like classic pub rock you'll love these guys. Another classic Aussie band is Noiseworks. Try Hunters and Collectors. All great Aussie bands.
Well I don't know if you know but INXS started their careers basically travelling southern Australia playing in pubs. They were pub rock before 'making it big internationally'. There is a good link with Jimmy Barnes and INXS - one playing in a concert situation, and one playing in a house studio situation where they were mucking around. I will give you the links. @@basementsquadreacts676 Yeah, Michael and I were about the same age. He was Jan 1960 and me Feb. He would be 63 now if he was still going. I think it was a cabal hit myself. We'll find out when disclosures happen with the EBS soon I would imagine.
not Aussie pub rock but Kylie and Danni Minogue, Guy Sebastian, Delta Goodrem. Shannon Noll. David Campbell which is One of Jimmy Barnes children. Anthony Callea. Kasey Chambers . I been getting really into Acapella group called VoicePlay but 2 other groups people reaction too is Pentatonix and Home Free. There are a few more Aussie that are know but I only said a few.
If you think Farnsey couldn't sing a Metallica song, I will have to call 100% Bullsh*t at that. A wonderful sound engineer hit record to John and the band singing Black Dog by Led Zeppelin which they used as an every concert warm up, you will be super surprised by their version.
I’ve got a heap of pub rock suggestions - the scene is a little hit and miss. I can drop a bunch of suggestions, maybe Twitter is a better forum for that. Maybe one day we could do a video chat! I’m a music nerd like you, and I know there’s a heap of overlap in the metal and hard rock stuff.
You actually can speak about Metallica and John in the same sentence he can sing any Genre, and does. I think ," it's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll" by AC/DC and black dog by led Zeppelin, in fact the black dog was just a warm up Mike check song with the band, not too far off.
Aussie 70's band Skyhooks "Women In Uniform" (live eg: th-cam.com/video/af5wTh_0jmI/w-d-xo.html) Save the versions featuring Farnsey until after hearing the original with Shirley (nicknamed for his hair similarity to Shirley Temple)
I love your reaction to this, it is such an emotional beautiful performance, with so much chemistry between them, and not scripted at all..no pretence, their connection is real. Please, please, react to John singing When the War is Over from 2003 - it will blow you away. th-cam.com/video/BekbvlLzMWc/w-d-xo.html
I see the Brisbane Lions guernsey in the background. This video is when Australian Rules and John Farnham came together in the 80s. Poor quality, but I reckon you will enjoy John Farnham (when he was lead singer of the Little River Band) singing “Playing to Win” to what look like 70s and 80s footy highlights as the opening to our then Saturday night footy replays. th-cam.com/video/GbtiUrHUhRw/w-d-xo.html

Aussie champions.
John and Olivia were best of mates for many years. Hence the genuine love and chemistry between them. ❤
RIP Olivia. This performance is incredible, the clarity and power, the lyrics, the chemistry it has it all
It is easy to be lost in the romance of this song, especially when this two beautiful people sing it. Heart ❤️ breaks 😢

If you like John Farnham, you should react to his cover if 'Black Dog' by Led Zeppelin.

Thanks!! And yeah INXS was huge here in the US way back when I was HS....R.I.P Michael Hutchence
Kasey Chambers
They were mates for a long long time.
Another top 5 of JOHNS LIVE performances in Australia. Song called 'AGE OF REASON". Link attached. th-cam.com/video/PCg4H35O5vA/w-d-xo.html
Please react to playing to win with melbourbe orchestra.
You actually can speak about Metallica and John in the same sentence he can sing any Genre, and does. I think ," it's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll" by AC/DC and black dog by led Zeppelin, in fact the black dog was just a warm up Mike check song with the band, not too far off.
If you want Aussie pub rock.
Am I ever going to see your face again? By The Angels LIVE

Save the versions featuring Farnsey until after hearing the original with Shirley (nicknamed for his hair similarity to Shirley Temple)
PUB ROCK LISTEN 2 SCREAMING JETS?
I love your reaction to this, it is such an emotional beautiful performance, with so much chemistry between them, and not scripted at all..no pretence, their connection is real. Please, please, react to John singing When the War is Over from 2003 - it will blow you away. th-cam.com/video/BekbvlLzMWc/w-d-xo.html
need to listen 2 DESIEL. N PAUL KELLY??? MORE AUSSIE LEGENS!!!
John could roll with Metallica he's done lead zeppelin and acdc.
