I think it depends on the trooper I saw a LG the other day say quite loudly get back when someone went to touch the horse. The sign would definitely be more effective if it was on the other side and higher, certainly more visible, at the moment it is obscured by tourists most of the time.

Part 2 was a big let down. Compare to part 1. By the Life Guards. And I greatly admire both regiments. I know the armed officers have alot to patrol. But I don't see them in the front either. I believe putting two more officers permanently. Near the guard boxes wouldn't hurt. A memo reminding the guards. To Implement a stern vocal command,. nod "No", nudge or moving back. Into the boxes. Before tourists grabby hands. Had a chance to touch the horses. Would get the message across. There's just too many tourists allowed. At Horse Guards. How can you ever control that problem.🤷‍♀️💂‍♀️❓

Have the guards lost their voices 🤯. Don’t go putting signs up if you are not going to reinforce them, it gives mixed messages. My goodness, there’s nothing worse than disrespectful people taking a chance to touch the horses while blatantly ignoring the signs, others are definitely going to do the same.

There is zero consistancy when it comes to touching the horses. Some guards don't allow, while others do. It needs to be fully informed across the board that nobody touches the horses. Even that one horse was pushing people back. Yes it's bothersome to yell at everyone, but rules are rules. I think each guard should have a cop beside them to inforce the no touching. Maybe then people would eventually get the hint.

Good morning John: had a really great discussion with another member yesterday about the signage etc. It really is a Catch 22 situation. 1) This is a Heritage Site. What is required to add additional signage? Does the MOD have to request permission from a Heritage Conservation Org., or can they decide themselves what signage to post and how many? 2) Troopers not enforcing the rule, (unfortunately it seems to be HCAV more than B&R).
She stated, and I agree, "even if there were signs everywhere and flashing neon, some tourists would ignore it all anyway".
Proof in you video today - lady in the lime green sweater (Korean?) and the US tourists (shame). What it comes down to is consistency (from the troopers saying "NO" and respect from the Tourons to understand that No means No). Let's hope that MOD sort this out, because crowds are going to grow and at some point it will become a real issue. My two cents from the other side of the pond. Thanks for showing us what really is happening at Horse Guards. Great Video. Bronx, NYC

Hi! This Heritage site stuff is a bit confusing - from what I could find the Horse guards building is on the National Heritage List, which doesn't look to have anything to do with the Heritage Conservation Org? Way too many heritage references and groups show up when googling. Would they need to get permission to even put a second nail in the wall on the opposite side to hang a second sign?

Hi John! I am a new subscriber as of August 19th! I find you charming, and your city just lovely. I am 78 this year and because of health, and my hubby having a stroke I can visit with you right here! I have met some of the sweetest people from England on TH-cam. One sweet lady and I would exchange gifts across the ocean. My favorite person is a single young man from Scotland who I met on TH-cam and began a true friendship. He is close to my children’s ages, and he sends me packages from Scotland, and I send from America him things too! At my age I would have never had the chance to meet the best folks from England/Scotland ….small world! I apologize for the Americans who are rude and disrespectful to your wonderful guards. It is embarrassing for me to watch that……I hate it when people annoy the horses too. The horses are working, and I hated seeing them poked at by people being thoughtless! Now the new rules will prevent it! So in closing I say thank you to the wonderful people across the pond in England. Thank you all for being so welcoming to this old American lady! Hugs to you! 🤗🇺🇸…..I will miss seeing Ormonde getting a nip in! Who knows Ormonde might still be gloriously mischievous! 😊

Tourists see now if you stand really close to the horse, the horse will nuzzle you which gives you the excuse to touch the horse. As usual, the guards say nothing and other tourists feel they can touch the horse, nothing will happen.

If the trooper isn’t going to stop the mauling of the horse then the signs should be taken down.
