The Sony Vaio Pro 13 Ultrabook are really nice and the very light carbon unibody are awesome and looks awesome too ;-) , but the best Haswell ultrabook of the moment...? I don't think so! I say only the new Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus = WOW!
@@nixcusp4941 Yean, mine sometimes throttles too, but its still amazing that 8 years later the laptop still very functional and convenient for doing small tasks
@@sarips841 Yeah. I actually made a hole under mine so the cooling would be a little better. And also I undervolt it. I can actually play GTA V on 10-30 fps (with some stutter because of the RAM) with a little tweaking hahaha
Yes I think so. It works really well with Windows 8.1 and it is ideal while reading when you need to scroll up and down, but I personal also use while navigating on the main screen. It's really smooth and responsive :)
HDMI is still very partial to 1080p resolutions. Only with the latest versions of the HDMI technology are we seeing the ability to see higher resolutions up to 4K. The Sony Vaio Pro 13 does not include that latest HDMI technology.
I have to get an Ultrabook for max 1400 € before 2014, which one would you recommend? I really dig this one, I would order it with a matte screen though. Is the laptop's flexibility a dealbreaker in your eyes?
I noticed that you seemed to have received the wireless ethernet adapter with yours but several unboxings that I have watched do not and it seems it is not included for anyone else. I am having the toughest time searching for this and an actual link to where I can buy it from Sony's website. Do you know why/how you got yours?
i noticed there's not a new model of the vaio S Series which was the most customizable and complete laptop made by sony (unfortunately u can't buy it anymore from the site) The new models vaio FIT and Vaio FIT E are quite comparable to the old E series. I think they should introduce a new mid/high range lapotop like the S series. Design and specs were really good
I need a laptop before the beginning of september. You said I should wait, but will new laptops come out this month? I heard about the new Samsung ATIV 9 pro, but 1500 euros is too expensive.
I've read that the WiFi issues are solved with a new update, but my biggest concern is still the fan. Can any Vaio Pro 13 user tell me if the fan makes a lot of noise. Like does the fan get annoying when you're in a quiet area.
***** First of all, learn to spell. It's 'quiet' and 'area'. Secondly, I have this ultrabook and it is very quiet and the WiFi is great. Your keyboard doesn't work after an update? Sucks for you! Mine still works perfectly. Next time stop talking non-sense. This laptop is amazing, I would recommend it to anyone who travels quite often and want a light ultrabook.
Eccy K. It's a nice laptop! Had it for two years! Have the base model but sadly still in Australia the WiFi issue has not been fixed. The only other problem I have with the laptop is the mouse pad. Once you keep the laptop on your lap and place your palms on the palm rest it seems to sometimes randomly click the mouse pad or sometimes does not work. expected a bit more since I paid $1600 but still overall a great lightweight ultrabook! Excellent sound and display.
I'm an student that uses Ubuntu as its first OS. Next course I'll do an erasmus abroad and I'll going to buy this ultrabook or other similar. Please, @gadgetjm if possible could you try to execute Ubuntu using its liveCD with an usb stick? Just to know if wifi, keyboard and touchpad are working properly by default. The Ubuntu installation will not be required in order to verify that. I will appreciate that... Very thanks :-)
The flex is from the carbon fiber body. If you want sturdy, you'll have to sacrifice the weight. Add a 2 lbs and you'll get a more sturdy, but heavier machine.
Would much rather get the mba.. Bad experiences with Sony in the past and the fact this is more expensive with lesser configurations than the mba is just stupid. Seems like Apple isnt that expensive anymore compared to others. Or am I wrong?
hello my friend- Great reviwes as always! I was wondering is this one very different from this lefdal.com/product/data/barbar-pc/SOSVT1313V1ES/sony-vaio-t-13-3-ultrabook-solv? If so what and which is better? Is the VAIO® Duo 13 a better choice?
Zenbook Infinity is not yet available... But Zenbook Infinity will be better in performance. However the Asus ultrabook has much more resolution and in my opinion It'll decrease the overall performance in games. That's why it has an Iris 5100 instead of other cheaper. Anyway I think Zenbook will be better.
MacBookAir is the best Haswell ultrabook at the moment. - Cheaper than Sony - Best re-sell value - Aluminium unibody - Way better battery life - Way better Operating System - Better bundled software (iLife) - Better GPU
Because Sony won't provide drivers for linux as they do for Windows. I'm used to that my hardware runs well on Linux by default even without the official support of the brand.
I will promise you one day when you lift this laptop of the table - You will see graphical noise flickering on your screen.,and you will know it will be a very expensive repair.Motherboards for these laptops are not cheap.Trust me.
Hi can anyone recommend me a good laptop that is able to play up-to-date games without any problems, fast cooling rate, not that heavy and a budget of around 800-1000
Cons: - Worse base clock on the cpu - It's heavier - Lower resolution display - aluminum dents, won't flex like carbon fiber - "Way better Operating System" Is entirely dependent on use cases. - Slower SSD - Lacks sleep and chage - Too many Die-hard fanboys.
We have one of these at home and it's complete rubbish. So so tempted to take it back, but my wife thinks it's ok....ish. The wifi reception is very poor, due most likely due to the carbon chassis, and the fan noise is unbearable. Otherwise it's ok...ish.
buy Z series although sony has stopped making Z series. There may be some left in the market. It has weight around 1.1kg and has third gen quad core i7 which is way superior than vaio pro. It has full hd (don't have ips display and touch). Buy vaio pro ONLY IF YOU WANT A BETTER BATTERY LIFE.
I have one, and I just sold it, getting this one. Will send it via post today, sick of the shortcomings of Mac, and the screen is pure shit, and its way too heavy for an ultrabook of these days (1300 grams vs 1020). There is just nothing I like bt it, except the trackpad.
How is a touch screen useless on a laptop you don't have to use it if u don't want to just because this is ten times better than you own don't be raging cry baby

I still have it and it throttles a lot. I wouldn't call it a beast.

How absout the WiFi issue that many many have, drop signal , weak signal and really slow speed?
I'm watching this video on my Sony Vaio Pro 13' touch :)
is the touchscreen easy to use? looks uncomfortable

...so do I:)
To sum up.
Good machine even in 2020 but problems with annoying fan cooling appears and hears too often. I've changed several times.

Looks nice, but that flexing really concerns me. That can't be good for the board.
That was very helpfull- thanks! You touched on most of the important issues, very informative.

The new MacBook Air was released this month that has intel 5000 graphics which produces 29 FPS and has a starting price of around €1300,00
Thanks for the informative review!

Great review
I am an architect student, and I was wondering if it would be enough to handle some heavy autocad/revit stuff
Great review man, most important: I didn't waste any sec. of my time, like most reviewers do
Very good review. Good job, and thank you!
If you keep the 4GB of ram and 128 GB drive. How much improvement does the i7 CPU add to this machine?
Great review, thanks for the info. Do you happen to know if with an external monitor through the hdmi port, it'll support a res higher than 1080p?
thanks for the review!
Great review, it really helps, thanks!

I am torn between this and the asus ux32vd....can you offer suggestion

Nice review
Which do you prefer asus ux31A or Vaio pro 13?
Shouldn't it be using intel HD 4400 graphics?
The keyboard flexes badly when you type. Does it get annoying?
Hi ! the rum is upgradable? or is soldered on the mb?
Also whats the difference beetwen the series like E S and T
this or zenbook infinity?
1080p vs 1440p
carbon fibre vs aluminium + gorrila glass
HD 4600 vs Iris 5100
black :) vs blue :(
just amazing......
good ultrabook :D
You should wait for the system 76 galagos.
good review. thanx
Can someone tell if I should get this or a acer aspire v3 571 6499.im in to gaming and I worry about how fast it is on games.please help!
great! love to have this device to replace my existing 2 gb ram 1st gen i3 laptop which still runs windows 7.

Very well
1:00 Nice quality there..

the sliver one is prettier
That's the biggest plus of carbon fiber, it bends, it doesn't dent and just stay that way.
Yeah, but is it noisy? ;)
haha wait sony makes playstation right and i just saw the xbox dashboard ... the irony
I love Sony but...I think I'll still want to get the new MacBook Air.
That's expensive for the specs..
Omg why do you ask questions like this, of course it will.
