    Amazing set of tips. I'm a Microsoft MVP, and I'd already done my research an am getting a Surface this weekend, but you showed me so much more that I'm just blown away with anticipation. Thanks!

    Your review is way better than the others. You show all the cool little things it can do. Everyone else just shows the basics that everyone knows over and over.

    That's an awesome video. It's better than some videos of reviewers trying to use the windows surface like regular laptop; making the surface sounds so limited. You showed much a lot of functionality than what would I have ever thought it could ever do. thank you.

    Just recently purchased a Surface 2. Great video. People focus on lack of apps, but who needs them when this is like a laptop? I can take photos, upload them seamlessly via memory card, blog etc. all from my tablet. This thing is impressive. Your video only enhanced it's capabilities.

      ***** The Surface Pro 2 is an ultra-book. The Surface 2 is a tablet with small enhancements over other tablets here and there.

      ***** and the price of the pro2 is a big no go for me
      for the same price I get triple the performance on a desktop and have my surface 2 for when I'm on the go or in class (I'm a student)

      It's really not like a laptop. It's a tablet. And yes, the app store is a huge limitation if you want to watch, say, videos with subtitles. I have lots of MP4s with embedded subtitles but I can't find a video player that will recognize them.
      His video didn't enhance anything. Look up the word, idiot.

    What I really love about this vid is that this guy shows all the little and big features of having the Surface 2 and other Microsoft products, while using mostly other services like google, google music and iCloud, and still enjoying it more than the actual devices...that can't really be topped.

  • @ninehoursful
    @ninehoursful 11 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Really man you did a great job showing off the features of Surface 2. While iDicks are bashing this mind blowing tablet, you showed us the endless possiblities using this tablet. I hope MS learns something from you in terms of advertising their products properly !!
    Great Video. Love my Surface Pro 2 and Surface RT

  • @oztabletpc

    I think one of the problems with Windows 8 tablets in general is the fact the there is such a depth of functionality. It leaves other platforms in the dust, but it takes a teensy bit more effort to discover and learn it than your basic iPad. It's not hard, but you don't know what you don't know.
    Kudos to you for this video Sean, because it takes someone to show off these functions for people to understand the difference. It is happening though! Well done.

      Matthew Slack Go to the desktop, press-hold (or right click), tap "personalize." Tap "get more themes online", on the left hand categories, tap "Art (illustrative)" and then scroll down until you see "GTGraphics 2." There's some awesome themes on there - I love both the original GTGraphics and GTGraphics 2. Enjoy!

    Seriously, Microsoft need to hire this guy!
    That video is the most compelling advertisement for Surface RT I have ever seen!
    Every blog site in I have read have failed to show the tablet in this light. i.e. review it from a can do perspective, instead of a can't do perspective.
    I'm assuming it's because they all use Mac's full time, and they only use Windows for those 2 days (to do a review). So they don't actually know how to do (or don't have the foresight) to use it in this way it's designed?

    All I can say is that Microsoft does a horrible job marketing their products. It's not enough to say "it has the full capabilities of a laptop" your videos are great at showing all of the things that are actually useful. Most people don't even know what their normal windows machines can do.

I find amazing the battery life, I am constatly connecting it to a 1 tera usb 3.0 hard drive filled with mkv full hd movies and ocassionaly see parts or even a 2 and a half hour movie, and some gaming, some apps, some net! and the battery juice goes on! the idle times are excelent, when you close the surface 2 with my nice type cover 2 it just does not take 1% in battery life! And the cover with the backlight keyboard is excelente!

      @FLAMETOASH 11 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Because no matter how well Microsoft does something websites, forums, consumers ALWAYS shut them out! Make the announcement less exciting than what it is! Don't believe me? Click that video in the suggestion "Microsoft Surface 2 - Launch Full Event" there's one point they announce what was almost a night vision front facing camera, they dimmed the lights and the presenter was still showing up clear on skype. but he had to basically beg for applause. He has the same patterns and delivers as Steve Jobs but when Steve would say something like we sold "15 million" they freak,
      People just assume whatever is coming from the Microsoft campus is going to be sub par or bad. (xbox one) and never even give them a chance.

    • @TragicTopGun50
      @TragicTopGun50 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      phoenix9433 Or maybe people didn't find a "almost night vision camera" that jaw dropping. Most people that wanted a Surface wanted a Surface Pro, because they wanted a fully featured PC that can be more portable than a PC. A "almost night vision camera" isn't that important to those people.
      Microsoft has always been more focused on the business side of consumers. They are now trying to cross the line into the average users and they have a ways to go. Those people are already using iPads and love them.

    • @HeRoiiNgSuS
      @HeRoiiNgSuS 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      phoenix9433 Agreed, but it has more to do with us, the consumers, then Microsoft, Apple, etc. We as consumers are always more impressed with flashy lights, loud noises, etc. and Apple capitalized on that. When other companies were producing quality items their marketing was sub-par or at the very least no where near as overwhelming as Apple. I have purchased 1 Apple product since this whole new wave of Apple products started and that was the iPhone 3. Won't touch Apple crap ever again. That's because I educated myself and compared products without getting caught up in product placement and flashy adverts. Very few people know that the EVGA Tegra 7 is a much better and certainly waaaay more powerful than the ipad Mini for a $100 less, yet I can guarantee you that 99% of the average consumers out there wouldn't know who the hell EVGA is unless they were a gamer or PC builder.

      David H. Yeah! Should we all get the money to buy so many gadgets that try to achieve the same pourpose!Still It's true because I know many people me included that owns diferente gadgets even if in diferente form factos. ex: nexus 7+lumia 920 / ipad + Lumia 620 / Surface Pro + Ipad / Surface 2 + HTC One. Hã even I, started rocking the world with a HTC Hero (aka g2), consumed all the coockings in XDA, moved to a better HTC Desire, then exchanged to HTC Mozart, and now a Lumia 1020! lol

    How can people call Apple revolutionary anymore... my 4 year old iPad does the same thing the new iPad air can do... it just does it slower. Sure iOS 7 was a big change, but that was mainly appearance. It is still the same!

      GODofMONSTERLAND To be fair for what it is quite good as a mobile functional device with office pre installed, of course not for professionals or core gamers like yourself looking for immersive mobile gaming and it annoys me that it has a gimped version of windows, but as as student I'd take a surface 2 rt instantly over a stupid fashion accessory like a Ipad or a galaxy tab etc.

    Wow this was an amazing video, you really shined light on just how powerful the Surface 2 really is!
    Microsoft has been on their A game from their PCs (SP2), tablets down to their phones in just a few years things are going to be very different!
    Thank your for taking the time to put together this very realistic and informative video.

      It's basically a tablet gaming app - getting "close" to console quality graphics, though it is no where near the actual quality of a console hardcore game. It's basically just playing a tablet game on a bigger screen. It is however a very versatile device.

    • @dirkit247
      @dirkit247 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andiotic Yea, that's true. Not hating on the tablet. I Actually have a Surface pro 1. Only thing that pisses me off about surface, is how quickly they released the 2nd generation. I could've had a better laptop with more viewing angles and better battery life, had they said they would release the next version so quickly. But oh well. Still happy with what I got.

    • @MikVision
      @MikVision 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      dirkit247 In europe they released the surface pro 1 on May 30th just 5 months before the 2nd gen and a month before the first haswell processors
      I'm happy I didn't get it back then
      Though you probably should have guessed that they will renew it every year like it's done with pretty much every ultrabook

    Hilarious. MS employs high ranking PR specialists and all they come up with is a bevy of schoolgirls wildly dancing but not imparting any information as to why I would want to purchase Surface RT.
    Then comes this guy along and makes want to get it right now. ha ha ha ...

    Long time PC user, converted to Mac for desktop, use Android for mobile OS, but this may have just converted me back to *GASP* *GULP* Windows again?! NOOOOOoooooooooooooooo.... Microsoft isn't suppose to be doing things right for their OS's!

    • @tibo-qc

      The problem is the screen's size and resolution. You cannot use a surface for productivity without a bigger screen. I've tried it for a week at work and everything is just too small. You also need an external mouse, working only with the touchscreen is tiring.
      But as a MS hater (because I just don't like any of their product as it does not fit my use of them), I have to admit there are some cool features. I'm talking especially about the kids mode, easy cast (I use DLNA and Chromecast for the same purpose) and the portability.
      I'm waiting for a similar product on the phone with Android + Ubuntu.
      Oh, and it's Windows 8, so... not super friendly.
      Speeh recognition has been around since Windows XP if I recall. I've never heard of anyone who uses it though.
      But clearly, Microsoft is trying to make things better and fix some of their past errors, so I'm curious to see where this is all going.

      The only ms product I've stuck with is the Xbox, I'm even an early adopter of the one and I have to admit I use voice commands all the time now, so I can see its potential and usefulness. It's become very accurate and more integrated so it's not nearly as cumbersome as it has been in the past. And it's actually useful.
      Functionality is at least on par with other tablets...I own a galaxy 10.1and this is at least more flexible that tablets of this generation. I tend to agree with you that touch screen only isn't overly user friendly. However, I find kids have zero problems rolling with touch only devices... signs that I'm getting older :/.

    • @tibo-qc
      @tibo-qc 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, I think touch screen ca be very efficient interfaces. But not for productivity. I love reading, watching videos, playing, etc. on my phone. I found this kind of usage is also easier using the touch interface on the Surface, but when it comes to actually using the desktop view (app?), touchscreen does not have its place anymore.
      As a developer, I see no way to integrate the touch interface on my day-to-day life, except with some complexe very efficient tech to allow me to type without ever looking at my hands, while still letting them rest on the table.
      But when it comes to entertainment or simple tasks, I found the touch interface to be more efficient.
      I would see the surface with 2 modes:
      Docked = desktop mode, no "modern" UI, keyboard, mouse and big screens (standard desktop)
      Un-docked = touch interface, modern UI and apps (standard tablet)
      This way would be pretty nice (such as Ubuntu Edge or something like this). But put in the form of a phone for portability (and removing one extra media).

    You are a great reviewer... taught me how to rock Spotify on the desktop and multitask in your first RT video. This video is just as cool - even cooler because Surface 2 rocks. Thanks for the new tips. If you applied for a job at Microsoft, they'd be lucky to have you.

    Wow.. Again.. this is a great video demonstrating the usefulness of the surface and how it really separates itself from an iPad, and Android devices. Microsoft really needs to be sending you a check since you've given a real compelling reason why people should consider the surface over anything Microsoft has done since they created the surface tablets.

    Great video. I wasn't even aware of just how capable the Surface is, especially if one is considering replacing the laptop/desktop with one. The user accounts, multitasking, external display, and peripherals are all very nice to have. It also shows me why I'm not crazy about 8.1 on a desktop... it's really made for this environment. I am impressed, though.
