I made a home library video about 6 months ago, but since then my husband has made me some custom bookshelves, made with raw wood edges and handcrafted pine. It smells lovely and I am so excited to organize my shelves and give you a bookshelf tour, sharing a bit of my collection. I have a mixture of fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, spiritual books, history books, and classics. I have a collection of poetry and literature from my academic days, but decided that that could make a separate video someday. I hope you enjoy it! Sending much love, Paola

YOU KNOW WHAT I NOTICED?? WHAT?WHAT? Thru all your fantastic videos, I just finally realized that everything about "Books" has gotten you the most talkative and excited!! So if you are in a slump, pondering over what kind of video to make, whip out a book or two and take us all on a journey. Yes, books are magical and probably the best gift to give alongside a vigorous growing plant.
Yes, I do SO love how much speaking about books lightens your lovely face and brightens yours (and our spirits). Luke did an amazing creative job on your unique book shelves! They are stunning! ❤ I’m not sure if this will be of any comfort but I too have been exhausted… It could have been the recent cold snap New England (USA) just went through but I honestly feel I’m still adjusting to my part-time job. I’ve been unable to work since Fall 2020. I began in Sept and felt certain I should be used to the schedule by now. It’s clear I’m still struggling. So please be patient with yourself, Paola, as you miss being out searching for fairies 🧚🏼♀️ and treasures! The magic in your animals faces and their evidence that they adore 🥰 you is darling to see! I realize this is a long comment but for one so bright and talented, honor what you need! We, who truly value your gifts, understand that every genius needs her (or his) down time! When I was a child I lived in my world of books. Then I became an adult and lived in the “regular” world. Now I am relearning how to live in my amazing, calm book world.
After a long, busy night shift on a cancer ward, this was the breath of fresh air that I needed to quiet my soul. I love absolutely love my nursing career. Some shifts are truly heartbreaking, but strangely, always uplifting and inspiring too in its own way. Much 💗 from Australia 🇦🇺 😌
Thank you Miss Kate for what you do! I am currently in “cautious remission “ from advanced stage four metastatic melanoma. My nursing staff were angels in those seven plus years! Luke's vision is so married to yours. He understands, he gets it. You are so lucky to have found each other. His use of live-edge wood for the bookshelves makes it so magical. You're right, it's like a fairy library and the way you have it organized and arranged does indeed make it feel like it's always been there. Comfort in books is so important. Mavi made me crack up. Your bookshelves are so beautiful. Your husband is very talented and has the vision to see the beauty hiding within those pieces of wood. Once you moved your books and plants etc. into the space, it looked like it had been that way forever. I love books and I love those shelves.
At some point I stopped thinking about "becoming my best self", a version of me that was always somewhere in a land far away that I would never get to, and just started honoring myself, whoever that was/is at that moment in time. No one is static and "best selves" are illusions to keep us chasing things that often end up hollowing out our actual selves. The great thing about children's books is that they, in my opinion, really celebrate the little imperfect asynchronies in ourselves and our lives.

Who says books aren't sentient? If everything is energy, then they are sentient! They choose us as much as we choose them. They speak with their own voices in their very own languages and ways. They become a great part of who we are and because of the energy exchanges, they impact us in ways that often change our personalities and our outlook on life. Amidst the madness in our world today, books are a wonderful avenue of escape from our sometimes hum drum life. You're blissed to have a very thoughtful husband. Congrats on the bookshelves.🐱🌻
"Who says books aren't sentient?" What a thing to say! I laughed out loud. Well, I agree. "Hold hands with the Greats," is my motto for the last two years. My best friends and kindred spirits are books, and I know they are living. Once I said to the Lord, "Is this right? These are just paper and ink, really!" He replied, "The Bible, too, in that sense, is just paper and ink, but is the Living Word, Jesus Himself. So think on that."
For gardeners I was gifted a book called The Well Gardened Mind. It was very impactful and moving. The writer is a psychiatrist who came to gardening through raising her family. The author Sue Stuart-Smith works with veterans with PTSD and other presentations as well as communities. It’s sounds dry but at times I was moved to tears with the beauty and honesty of her writing.
Had to come here to say that after reading your comment, I purchased The Well Gardened Mind. I just finished reading it, and can honestly say I haven’t been so moved by a book in years! Thank you so much for sharing! What a wonderful community Paola has created here. ❤

I'm a pretty avid reader, but I never want to read more than after watching one of your book-centric videos. I spent nearly an hour pausing on areas of your book shelves and adding to my ever growing amazon book wish list. I too have to go through my insane collection of books to pare down before buying any more. My husband is not nearly as creative as yours so although I have 10 bookshelves throughout my home filled in some places 2 rows deep with books, they are all store bought and on some, the shelves are starting to bow. I suppose I may have to learn a bit of carpentry myself. Thank you for all of the inspiration throughout all of your videos.

I must admit, I am not a reader, and I did love this video, your husband knows you well. Knowing that I wanted my daughter to read, when she was 4 I bought her a little kiddie record player, and books to follow with the record. She was all excited one morning and asked me to come to her room so she could read me a book. She started everyone with....when you hear this jingle you know it is time to turn the page. Yep every story started with that sentence 😊

I love The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, The Borrowers and the Nancy Drew books when I was a child - I also roamed the woods looking for fairies and making fairy homes from hollow trees- your new bookshelves are enchanting - your Luke is a wonderful artist!

The bookshelves are just unbelievably beautiful. I love natural looking furnishings of wood, stone, clay, etc. I love the little nooks for your plants and figurines, and the DESK space at the bottom is just brilliant. I'm very envious.
This what I love about TH-cam you can be transported to the fairy cottage. I think about all the emotionally abused children or anyone having difficulty can come to channels like this and feel happy and hopefully loved xxxx you are not alone. ASMR whisper affirmations is nice to fall asleep to.

Being raised as an only child I loved loosing myself in books and looked forward to being able to go to the library! When I graduated to the adult section I really felt grown up. Still love to read. Those bookshelves are really unique I think Luke created them out of beautiful wood so they are one of a kind. You will have plenty of space for lots of books. I took a break from studying to watch this video and now I have the biggest grin on my face. I love people who love books because they're always so happy talking about them. My first memories of books are my mother reading me the Little House on the Prairie books every night. I remember I used to be so impatient to hear the rest of the story that I would read ahead and then pretend that I was hearing it for the first time when she read before I went to bed. I was absolutely one of those children that read into the early hours of the morning under the covers as well.
Love the shelves. My husband made me a huge dining table out of 150+ year old pecan wood with a live edge. It is absolutely gorgeous! And there have been 4 times in my life that I was super tired for no reason. I have 4 children, just saying😁

"All Creatures Great and Small," James Herriot (wedding present from my husband 35.5 years ago ♥️, reading the series again). My favorite books as a kid were all the Black Stallion and Island Stallion books. Your live edge shelves are gorgeous!

Both of my grandparents have recently passed away, their house was much like your cottage, quiet and left alone but you could also feel peace and love there. It sits empty and alone now but I still go and feel love. Your videos have helped me feel so much comfort with my grief. Lots of love to you friend ❤️

I have enjoyed your enthusiasm and sharing of your book library! I have lots of books and only a few places to keep them. I remember making a move years ago as a young adult to live in another state and kept my books in my car's trunk. It was devastating to have to throw most of the books away after I discovered a leak had allowed rain to slowly wet and mold most the books. I guess the good thing is I've continued to collect thrifted and free books 📚 over the decades. What a blessing and joy it is to immerse yourself entirely in a story!
One can never have too many books, but it does feel good (though it is difficult) to go through them periodically. I recently sold some of my books to Powell's and got store credit. For more books, of course.
I'm very sad that I only met the beauty of books now, I'm 19. I didn't grow up around readers so I didn't become one. I get sad about that sometimes and even jealous of the people that got to grow up around books. But I'm mostly grateful for people like you who show me how to be a booklover in the best possible way. same i'm also 19 and I started really reading this year. I'm reading nietzsche books (Zarathoustra), other classics such as Anna Karenine by Tolstoï and books about ancient paris and things like this and I absolutly love it. Don't be jealous, it must be a pleasure nothing else and be happy that you have discovered this now.
I like to think of it as you have so much time left still to explore books from your current perspective. Of course it is sad you didn’t have that experience as a child, and it is important to feel that grief, but you’ve also now discovered how wonderful the world of literature is and can fully enjoy it as who you are now 💕 I grew up loving books and often used fantasy as an escape from a broken home, and now I’m rediscovering novels from a classic literature perspective. There’s always more to explore and appreciate regardless of your age, and you never stop learning xx

I absolutely squealed getting to see your books! I immediately noticed that I already own at least half of what I could see, so considering that we clearly have the same taste in books you can be sure that I'll be going back frame by frame and writing down the ones I don't have. I'm willing to bet I'll like those too. And those shelves!! Before you even said it, I commented to my husband that they look like fairy house shelves. Luke did such a beautiful job on them. 'Starting the morning with fresh green tea' caught my eye... and your cat's antics brought a smile to my face. I recently moved to a new apartment.... am in the process of organizing my books, which is comparable to sitting down and having a visit with good friends! I also have the book 'The Hidden Life of Trees" and was happy to see you do too! My parents raised me to enjoy books... It is interesting to note that when I last moved, I had 31 boxes of books! It was a labor of love to lift all those boxes and move them with me. No regrets at all. Only a book lover could appreciate that! I searched for 2 years to acquire a tall wooden (7 foot) bookcase, perfect for my books. It was handcrafted by a Mennonite woodworker. I have a 2nd one coming, so can appreciate your delight in the shelves your husband made you and the pine scent that follows. Happy reading. I feel I have made a new friend.

What a stunning book shelf. Your husband did a wonderful job! When I was 13 there was a series of books in the UK called the great writers (with each title accompanied by a magazine). My parents had no money so it was a great sacrifice for them to buy the weekly book. I still have all those books and magazines 30 decades later. I am a painter so most of my books now are contemporary art but I love and cherish that series of books bought with love and sacrifice from my mum and dad. Love from Scotland 🏴

I’ve always been a reader (when I was a little girl, I had my own little library in my room, made library cards for all my books, and made my family check them out) and your bookshelf is truly beautiful….perfectly suited for fairies and curious cats.
I just love this channel. You are such a beautiful human and look forward to your channel every week My favourite books as a child of all time is The land of the far away tree series. The enchanted wood. The folk if the faraway tree. Enid blyton. I have kept these to pass on to my children's children. Such a escàpe as a kid to visit magical far off places 😁. For gardeners I was gifted a book called The Well Gardened Mind. It was very impactful and moving. The writer is a psychiatrist who came to gardening through raising her family. The author Sue Stuart-Smith works with veterans with PTSD and other presentations as well as communities. It’s sounds dry but at times I was moved to tears with the beauty and honesty of her writing.

I'm a pretty avid reader, but I never want to read more than after watching one of your book-centric videos. I spent nearly an hour pausing on areas of your book shelves and adding to my ever growing amazon book wish list.
I too have to go through my insane collection of books to pare down before buying any more.
My husband is not nearly as creative as yours so although I have 10 bookshelves throughout my home filled in some places 2 rows deep with books, they are all store bought and on some, the shelves are starting to bow. I suppose I may have to learn a bit of carpentry myself.

I must admit, I am not a reader, and I did love this video, your husband knows you well. Knowing that I wanted my daughter to read, when she was 4 I bought her a little kiddie record player, and books to follow with the record. She was all excited one morning and asked me to come to her room so she could read me a book. She started everyone with....when you hear this jingle you know it is time to turn the page. Yep every story started with that sentence 😊

I took a break from studying to watch this video and now I have the biggest grin on my face. I love people who love books because they're always so happy talking about them. My first memories of books are my mother reading me the Little House on the Prairie books every night. I remember I used to be so impatient to hear the rest of the story that I would read ahead and then pretend that I was hearing it for the first time when she read before I went to bed. I was absolutely one of those children that read into the early hours of the morning under the covers as well.

Love the shelves. My husband made me a huge dining table out of 150+ year old pecan wood with a live edge. It is absolutely gorgeous! And there have been 4 times in my life that I was super tired for no reason. I have 4 children, just saying😁

I have enjoyed your enthusiasm and sharing of your book library! I have lots of books and only a few places to keep them. I remember making a move years ago as a young adult to live in another state and kept my books in my car's trunk. It was devastating to have to throw most of the books away after I discovered a leak had allowed rain to slowly wet and mold most the books. I guess the good thing is I've continued to collect thrifted and free books 📚 over the decades. What a blessing and joy it is to immerse yourself entirely in a story!
One can never have too many books, but it does feel good (though it is difficult) to go through them periodically. I recently sold some of my books to Powell's and got store credit. For more books, of course.
I'm very sad that I only met the beauty of books now, I'm 19. I didn't grow up around readers so I didn't become one. I get sad about that sometimes and even jealous of the people that got to grow up around books. But I'm mostly grateful for people like you who show me how to be a booklover in the best possible way. same i'm also 19 and I started really reading this year. I'm reading nietzsche books (Zarathoustra), other classics such as Anna Karenine by Tolstoï and books about ancient paris and things like this and I absolutly love it. Don't be jealous, it must be a pleasure nothing else and be happy that you have discovered this now.
I like to think of it as you have so much time left still to explore books from your current perspective. Of course it is sad you didn’t have that experience as a child, and it is important to feel that grief, but you’ve also now discovered how wonderful the world of literature is and can fully enjoy it as who you are now 💕
I grew up loving books and often used fantasy as an escape from a broken home, and now I’m rediscovering novels from a classic literature perspective. There’s always more to explore and appreciate regardless of your age, and you never stop learning xx

I absolutely squealed getting to see your books! I immediately noticed that I already own at least half of what I could see, so considering that we clearly have the same taste in books you can be sure that I'll be going back frame by frame and writing down the ones I don't have. My parents raised me to enjoy books... It is interesting to note that when I last moved, I had 31 boxes of books! It was a labor of love to lift all those boxes and move them with me. No regrets at all. Only a book lover could appreciate that!
I searched for 2 years to acquire a tall wooden (7 foot) bookcase, perfect for my books. It was handcrafted by a Mennonite woodworker. I have a 2nd one coming, so can appreciate your delight in the shelves your husband made you and the pine scent that follows.

What a stunning book shelf. Your husband did a wonderful job! When I was 13 there was a series of books in the UK called the great writers (with each title accompanied by a magazine). My parents had no money so it was a great sacrifice for them to buy the weekly book. I still have all those books and magazines 30 decades later. I am a painter so most of my books now are contemporary art but I love and cherish that series of books bought with love and sacrifice from my mum and dad. Love from Scotland 🏴

I’ve always been a reader (when I was a little girl, I had my own little library in my room, made library cards for all my books, and made my family check them out) and your bookshelf is truly beautiful….perfectly suited for fairies and curious cats.

The enchanted wood. The folk if the faraway tree. Enid blyton. I have kept these to pass on to my children's children. Such a escàpe as a kid to visit magical far off places 😁.
