lovely!! long ago (it seems) I rejuvenated the house to a 1920s home. There's an old old wood stove I kept, a river rock surrounding it (ok that wasn't 1920s but ...), had a Hoosier cabinet in the open kitchen with a big farm sink and chopping block; a very very 1920s wood stove/oven (style); wood planks all along the wall painted distressed white. A clawfoot tub, distressed cabinet. In the bedroom, a homemade double bed with a quilt, and wood floors throughout. In the corner, an armoire, no cabinets or dresser drawers. The living room had a needlepoint couch (no one was allowed to sit on) and a handful of chairs, including an old rocking chair. Pretty rose wallpaper that was semi-waterproof in the bathroom as well. Old candlestick holders on the wall. Well done on the 1940s home!!
I absolutely love your home, thank you for sharing a very personal space. Just lately with all of what is happening in this country I am withdrawing into my home and decorating it in a much more vintage fashion, I think it’s a reaction to the outside world to try and recapture a feeling of safety and peace, I love the 1940s era so your content is very comforting.
Me too. Bizarre concept, the World has gone mad enough that living in a literal warzone is calming. Periodically I'll be home alone and put the Air Raid siren TH-cam video on. Just to add in some realism. I generally last about 10 minutes. I think I'm giving myself PTSD 😮.
Oh wow I'm in love, especially the kitchen because you kept the pantry, thank god someone left that's not ripping the heart and souls out of these lovely houses,I'd kill for a pantry ,loved the whole vibe 🤗🌷⭐
My mum had a huge pantry in her house. I'd love to have a house with one, too. Everyone thinks it's innovative to have open plan kitchen, lounge, dining rooms. I've got a separate kitchen and much prefer it. I'd hate guests to see us cooking, with pans and dishes everywhere. Plus, I have a sofa in there and like to be left in peace! ALL these open plan homes are just boring, to me ,now. They're all the same!! I have my kitchen, dining room, then 2 separate lounges. It means our sons can have friends around, and we can all be 'doing our own thing' in peace. This house is interesting, but I'm much more minimalist in my personal style. Enjoyed watching this though
Great little film. Your presentation is so professional. You have a wonderful home. Pantries are excellent every home should have one. Pity they went out of fashion.
I really enjoyed your tour you speak very eloquently and you can see the love you have for the 1940s vintage ,it brought back memories of my nanna s house I’m 72 now and I can remember the old pantry and the cooker and all the old tins stacked so neatly she also had a Belfast sink, thank you for bringing back such happy memories of somethings I forget to think about these days …
H my goodness!!!! I don't know why but that fairy liquid bottle is so nostalgic. I nearly cried with warmth and joy in my heart remembering my dear Gran and the smell of washing dishes as she wore her apron. Beautiful memories. Love your house. Dream. 🏡❤️🌻😍🕊️💖
My mother was a young housewife in the early 1940’s. She had an odd comment that wallpaper was SO cheap that she would wallpaper rooms every two years or so.. I just love the COZY you’ve created. Mint green kitchen. Of course! That cooker will never ever die….best 16 pounds you could ever spend! I treasure my few antiques from 1750-1810 and my parents mahagony bedroom set from 1938. Gosh, I see TH-cam videos of people in huge houses with white sterile design and NO personality. Brava to you for being nostalgic. I enjoyed the tour, thank you!
Your home must be a dream ma'am, I agree with your opinion on lifeless homes. I'm a young housewife, 18, and we have our 1936 home with a wood fireplace, breadpan ceilings, and crystal doorknobs- I love it so much. Everything here was so easy for us to afford because we love the theifted and old things. My kitchenware is even old. I love nostalgic homes. My dad was so happy to see it, he said it reminded him of his childhood home. My grandpa in law was in love as well, it reminded him of his grandma's house. Thanks for sharing ma'am
The lights weren't centered on ceilings because they often placed them closer to windows to help give privacy instead of shadows. It also offered various light levels throughout the room so people could use it as needed instead of everything being underneath a bright light. I've heard it can help with changing the appearance of room size too. The floor stencils were noted around early 1800s, I believe.
The ceiling-decoration is not centered in smaller flats/houses, because they were meant to hold the lightning of the room - typically over a table, or they were off-cantered to avoid people from hurting their heads entering the room, as they usually are the place were the main lamp is fastened to the ceiling.
Thank you for this info. I wondered why the 1930's house I bought in 2003 has a room in which the ceiling light was in a corner near the windows. Thought it was stupid....LOL. However, previous owners covered up the wall switch under wallpaper. I removed that, and had the light centered on the ceiling. Interesting discovery!!
These particular floor stencils look arts & crafts / art nouveau era (e.g. William Morris). It looks like they've gone in and out of fashion many times over the last 200 years!
I have a house built in 1940 and someone redid the kitchen in the 1970s. I have not had a clue what to do with her. Thank you for sharing your sweet space, I have great ideas now.
This is so inspirational! I am in the US but have a similar dream for my home. I love how your garden (we call it a yard in the states) is so private and cozy. Even if the yard is fenced in, it never feels this way in the US, probably partly to do with the fact that a lot of yards where I live are quite large and feel overly open/exposed. Thanks for sharing your lovely house! ❤
Love the tour of your adorable home! I loved seeing all the rooms in your home, I am from New Jersey in the US and I love to see English homes! I love vintage also! You have some beautiful, adorable things! I loved the coziness of your home, and the stove and refrigerator, so cute, I loved that little bathroom upstairs, just adorable. I understand very well how we love vintage, adorable things! I want to tell you your tour wasn't too long, went at a nice speed and I enjoyed it so much! I like to decorate like you do! Thanks so much for showing me your adorable home! Sending love, wendy
I thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful vintage home tour! I especially loved the tiny bathroom decor, the kitchen and the outdoor seating area sanctuary. I think you’ve done a very lovely job decorating your home. I personally live in a home that was built in 1948 so the homes in this era were quite small, dainty and delightful 🌷🌷🌷🌟🌷✨✨🌼🌼
What an absolutely lovely home you have! That kitchen is ❤out of this world! I loved the bold colors you have scattered in the home. That yellow in the bathroom is enchanting and the green in your mom’s room is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
I remember growing up in a house like yours in the 50s it took me back to my childhood and yes I did shed a tear, it was so wonderful to see i am so pleased you kept the pantry evey home had one back then which included a marble slab to keep meat, cheese, milk and alsorts of homemade dessert, thank you so much for your enthusiasm enthusiasm in showing us your beautiful home best wishes Annie.
I just loved your home. Your enthusiasm is catchy. I also have many old pieces in my home and i love them. Well done ! Enjoy your read. Watching from S Africa 🌻
Congratulations! Its lovely. There is something so wonderful about a home very purposefully put together by the family in it. Cozy, unique and much loved!
Absolutely love your home, so cosy and snug. Ive always loved the vintage look and homes with a lot of personality in them. The modern look i find so bland, lacking in personality and just so unhomely. This is lovely!
Absolutely beautiful. Cheered me up no end seeing this. Sadly a dream I will never see realised but I love that you have done it. So cosy & a real home ❤️
Thank you for letting us see your amazing house. Seeing how you thoughtfully decorated it so lovingly and beautifully is truly wonderful. I especially love your kitchen area with the old-fashioned cooker. My Nana had one of those in her kitchen for as long as I can remember. I hope you have many more wonderful years to make memories in your gorgeous, 1940's inspired home. Respect
Just found this channel - GREAT - I love the theme, the pace and your home is fascinating. My husband and I are fans of all things British and we love the 40s/50s era so this channel fits the bill! Thank you and cheers from Toronto Canada!!!
Your house is really lovely. My house was built in 1920 and I share your love of vintage features. I love the tiny bathroom and I wonder why they originally put that in without a sink. It seems odd that you'd have a toilet but no way to wash your hands or your face. It wouldn't be vintage, but you could always put in one of the Japanese toilets that have a little sink on top of them. That would fit nicely without having to redo any plumbing. I'm so glad that you didn't pull out those gorgeous wood floors and the stenciling looks 1950s to me. I have an old, old, kitchen with a scalloped hood over the stove from about 1945-1950 and it has almost identical stenciling. I couldn't get rid of it, it was so charming. Thanks for the tour of your house. You've done an amazing job of making it welcoming and cozy.
I am so happy to have found you. I live in a small cottage built by Brunel in around 1853. I am struggling with how to decorate and live in the space. Your home has given me so many ideas of how I can give my home the love it deserves. Thank you again for sharing your home.
This reminds me so much of my grandma’s house. It was just like this but after she passed, it was modernised and it was never the same again. Thank you for bringing back some amazing memories 💜
Thank you so very much as your film takes me back in time I was born in 1943, in an identical home to this feature vlog You are an amazing Lady , so vibrant , oozing pride and joy In the making of your film . I am so happy to discover your channel also I am sending To my Two Brother’s and wives as they shall surely appreciate as much As I do. Mary Canada 🇨🇦
Oh Hannah how cute your home is, I absolutely adore it. I’m slowly getting my house back to around the same year aswell. I think half the fun is looking and finding that special piece that you fall in love with and just know it belongs with you in your home. Thankyou for bringing us along for the tour it was just beautiful It was so homely and warm ❤
Gorgeous! When I eventually get my late husband' s estate settled I hope to get a terrace house, late 19th and early 20th, so I can get some family 'heirlooms' and photos displayed with 30s and 40s stuff from my grand parents and late in-laws. I love collecting 30s and 40s kitchenalia, including old cookery books and housekeeping books, especially those by Elizabeth Craig. Any older viwers remember her? On my honeymoon in 2013 in North Wales I found in a charity shop Keeping House With Elizabeth Craig! Its the best old book I've got and how apt to find it on my honeymoon!
What a sweet, cozy home. Your stove is to die for. They make little sinks that can hook directly to the toilet if that is something you still want to add. Thanks for sharing.
Your home is dreamy and looks like it would be the cosiest, most beautifully 'hygge' vintage space in the bleak midwinter, especially with the fireplace roaring. You home is a place that just keeps giving by means of feels ❤ I simply ADORE it! (And Glenda too!)xx
I love your house you have totally made it your home😀!!! I love anything old too as its more characterful and well made which modern stuff is definitely not!
I loved this little tour .. it really felt like I was invited to your home. I have seen your backyard in previous videos about your pigeons but it's even cuter here than I ever imagined!! This video has inspired me a lot.
loving the tour of the 1940's vintage theme. I was born in the 80's the decor in our home was different but the 1940's vintage decor theme looks so full of comfort, looks so cozy!
Your home is amazing just wonderful feeling too it. Love your bed my favourite type of bed. Whole place just beautiful you look beautiful too. Love your video
Fabulous video! My home is styled and decorated like the 1940s/1950s. I adore it and would never go back to a modern-style home. I really love what you have done to your home. It is done so well and super accurate. 🏡❤❤❤
I much prefer a character room. I did makeover one room in modern IKEA style but gave it all away after a few months and went back to vintage. So it was nice to see your choice of furnishings/decor. Am struggling to find a stair runner and my stairs turn a corner too. Love the windows. Tfs 😊
I was born in 1958 and I remember a lot of the stuff in your house we couldn't wait to get rid of and move on to more modern things. But I can see a need for cozy comfort and chilled out spaces in this too fast a pace World. Less clutter would look better I think. I'm sure it will affect different people in different ways, it made me feel sad, when I thought it would make me feel happy. I'm glad it makes you happy. Maybe it triggered memories of missing people long gone. Like my Grandmas.
I can imagine coming home on a rainy autumn night and getting snug and cosy. It’s so welcoming ❤

Labour are determined to fill this country with more Muslims, just waiting for them to come to our village, so I hear ya.
Me too !!
We're doing the same thing! And listening to 40s music to add to the vibe!
Tambien yo....amo la decada de los 40 " con todo lo que eso incluye ...ropa .carteras decoracion ..musica

I am impressed that this was recorded in one continuous video with no cuts! Thanks for sharing your lovely house with us.
Feels more authentic that way… not edited and over-produced.
It's too bad the sound is so awful though.
But I do like that there is no cuts.
I wish there were more young people like you❤
You have made a wonderful home, thank you for this uplifting video.

What a wonderful and cosy space. Absolutely love it
Loving your wonderful home it really does take you back in time.
What a lovely job of making it look cosy and with a 1940s feel.
I'd love to do the vintage look in this old 1900 terraced house we live in.
Oh, I adore that kitchen! 🥰 And the back garden is so fun, as well.

Amazing work, must feel so nostalgic?
I much prefer a character room. I did makeover one room in modern IKEA style but gave it all away after a few months and went back to vintage. So it was nice to see your choice of furnishings/decor. Am struggling to find a stair runner and my stairs turn a corner too. Love the windows. Tfs 😊
