Bach - Cantate Nun danket alle Gott BWV 192 - Sato | Netherlands Bach Society

- 'Nun danket alle Gott' is the shortest but one of the most festive cantatas Bach wrote, thanks to Martin Rinkarts' cheerful chorale text. In this cantata, performed under the direction of Shunske Sato for All of Bach, Bach pulls out all the stops. Alongsides the strings, Bach also wrote parts for two oboes and two flutes, and the opening chorus is a complete and utter spectacle. The festivities continue uninterrupted in the subsequent duet for soprano and bass and in the energetic closing chorale.

Perfect for today, as we thank God for our fifty years of marriage
If you have problems, listen Bach's music. If you are sad, listen Bach's music. If you are missing inspiration, listen Bach's music. In these difficult times, when people have difficulty to seat and talk with respect and consideration to each other, listen Bach's music. If you are happy, listen Bach's music. As a good start for your day, listen Bach's music. My wife and I have a saying: only Bach saves.
Correcto ❤
Vous avez tout a fait raison. Quelle joie , quelle exultation , Bach c’ est l’ extase musicale .. Georgeous.
You can feel the sheer joy in Bach's composition, and this lovely performance brings it out perfectly.
Ahh. This is what I come to All of Bach for. I've grown old listening to these; they make my life quite a bit more acceptable.
WOW! Energy and joy spilling over. NBS is in a league of their own .
It is impressive to think of the extreme quality of all the works by Bach. To be able to deliver at such a high level through his entire life.
Thank you as always to the wonderful work you do NBS in making Bach’s music so accessible on TH-cam! ❤
Yes, the sheer quantity of Bach's work, none of it mediocre, and much of it riveting, is utterly astounding! Such a gift to us.
His productivity at high quality does have many competitors in the sparkling 18th century--Euler, Leibniz, Herschel, Lavoisier, Huygens, Priestly, Volta, Lamarck, Humboldt, Franklin, Mozart, Goethe, Lomonosov, Scarlatti, Laplace, Kant, Diderot, Bernoulli, Newton, LaGrange, Gauss and Linnaeus, amongst others! What an Age it was.
I am always astonished by the maestria of the NBS and the directing of S.Sato… Bravissimo for this joyful piece!
We can hear Bach trying new ideas here--extended harmonic sentences, unexpected progressions, surprising melodic intervals and that conceit he grew more and more fond of--the "media res," beginning in the seeming middle of a conversation or train of thought, complete with chords far from home, dissonance that eludes immediate resolution, etc. I truly love the honor of sharing this brilliant man's achievements, from musicians who really know and love Bach, as well.
Beautifully written, sir.
Oh, recording rehearsals now? Just kidding. It always amazes me how you manage to make a smallish group sound like a large chorus &orchestra, the blending is so perfect! Awesome piece awesomely done. ❤❤❤
Großartige Interpretation! Danke für diese göttliche Musik!
It seems to be such a free spirit in this ensemble that I can nothing but enjoy. All is focused on the music and its way of having the ability to liberate us all. It is all joy, rhytm, happiness. The text talks about "Lob, Ehr und Preis sei Gott", and this text is literarlly transported into each and everyone of this ensemble. Warm thanks for this wonderful experience. And thanks NBS!
Another example of the outstanding artistry of NBS and the unsurpassed beauty created by Bach! Bravo!
Magnificent performance
Always a delight to get another gorgeous work of music from NBS!
Great performance. I also appreciate the way the musicians are dressed. Stuffy formal attire is yet another barrier that says that this music is only for the elite. I see this trend in some other performance groups.
What you describe is almost tradition since the beginning of historical practice of 'oude muziek' in the Netherlands from the beginning of the seventies.
I prefer not to be distracted by what individuals are wearing. It needn’t be stuffy or showy, but simple all black allows one to focus on the music as an ensemble.
@@Rehearsal3434 depends on where you live and accustomed to.
I see the faces, understand their movements and listen to Bach, what he actually wrote.
THEN, also look at paintings of Orchestra's of the 17th-18th century.
Now they were way more extravagant.
It's all about the professional talent and standard.
Still this is a registration
of a rehersal....
@@Rehearsal3434 Fair enough. I'm not really a 'clothes person', so I'm not distracted. A simple black turtleneck and slacks would be fine. What I object to is the fancy dress -- which includes tuxedos for men
Indeed … not disparaging uniformity of attire however visible ‘diversity’ may entice those discouraged by perceived pomp to Bach et al … a win win scenario; ‘e pluribus unum’
I love Bach
Einfach wunderbar!
One of if not the most jubilant cantatas
Love for Bach's music ❤
It's just astonishing to hear the complexities and the overtones. I would give anything to see this society. We are so fortunate to partake of these fine musicians. I wonder what they all think about Bach.
Their happiness is catching.
N Bach S and Sato so magic .
Fabuloso!
Glorious!
I love that the ensemble showed up in their everyday clothes and performed a Bach cantata as if it were a pleasant weekend activity and not a sacred act to be approached with fear and trembling.
A rhytmic rendition with a lot of swing in it! This joyful music will make my day. As always a wonderful interpretation by NBS!
Fantastic beautiful music by Bach that radiates so much joy and positive energy absolutely wonderfully performed thank you NBS 🍃
A great performance of a wonderful work which is totally new to me! As an amateur chorus tenor, just singing the brilliant opening section would be a lot of fun!
Hey... go Sato!!! :)
A real pleasure for the soul, ears and eyes! Thank you so much for making Bach's music more tangible!
I miss the behind the music interviews that were linked to the performances. Always informational but they haven’t had them post Covid.
I think that means you liked our background videos, thanks! Indeed, we no longer make a background video for each work, every now and then a slightly longer mini-docu does appear
Gorgeous ! Stupendous ! Congratulations 🎉
The music of God.
Casual Friday? Love it.
Una joya!!
Magnificent. Thanks to all.
Nagyszerű ! Köszönet érte ! Egy magyar zenetanár .

Thank you Jonathan for this work, I really appreciate it!
Merci beaucoup pour la traduction en anglais.
Merci beaucoup, NBS!)) Sato?((
No one else in the comments dares to shock the audience by telling that the tenor part is lost and had to be reconstructed.
😍🤩🥰
Sehr schön gespielt!Wo wurde die Kantate denn aufgenommen?Gottes Segen Ihre Beate Mallon.
We recorded this cantata at Phil Haarlem: www.philhaarlem.nl
Sato is back? How come? 👍
This was recorded in June 2022!
It was recorded in june 2022.
I learned only through your comment that he had resigned.
He resigned? Why?!?!
Sato's departure is motivated by a desire to have more time for other things: "I know I would have to live thirty lifetimes to know, perform and really digest and understand all the beautiful music. And yet I want to keep trying. The desire for other music than with the Netherlands Bach Society, other repertoire, always played at the edges. I couldn't really develop that further. Now there will be room for that."
enough proof that the quality of the music doesn't depend on the choice of clothing. 😄
