    Thank you for posting such a simple, but effective lemon pepper seasoning recipe. We made it for the first time today and once we had dehydrated the lemon rind, the rest was really quick and easy. We used it to season some lemon pepper chicken wings - another first and LOVED them both !

    Love this recipe. As you say most commercial lemon peppers have salt, and sometimes too much of it.
    Will try this out for sure. Thank you Ry!
    My dehydrator runs at 65C so should work well for this. The essential oils should release even in that.

    Ry - You might want to try giving the same treatment to oranges. I find orange pepper to give a very interesting dimension to things like pork rub, but have only ever used commercially available product.

    I'm watching this video now so I don't know if you said this but once you zest the lemons you have to use them up quickly because they'll rot faster without their outer skin. (Just a tip.)

    Another great recipe and an experiment for me to try! Hey, any idea how to g it will keep in a spice jar after you make it before it goes bad? Also, have you ever tries smoking it (in a smoker.....not literally) ?

      In a cool dry dark place I would estimate a few weeks. I rarely make more than I need at a time, though, so I really can't be 100% sure :)

    This is great!. Question: can you just bake the lemon zest by itself and then add/mix the pepper later? Or is this done so some of the pepper flavor gets a bit more mild going through the oven

      You could do it separate, but I feel that the flavors from the zest help transfer to the pepper flakes when baked for a fuller flavor when done together :)

      @@CookingWithRy Thank u, here we Dry all spices in sunlight,instead of using electric or gastruc ovens, they are also helpful but these are old ancient ways to Dry Products like meat , Spices , Veges , Fruits , Tomatoes etc 😃

      I make it in small batches so I’ve never kept it for more than a couple weeks before it’s gone. Not sure beyond that.

      The lemon zest gives up some of their flavor to the pepper as it dries, so drying it first would lessen that.

      If you have one you sure can. Some have a heat setting which makes it work even better.

      I've done one on salmon filet, and I might do a whole fish, though it will be hot smoked for eating and not preservation. Definitely in the plans :)
