As someone who has read the books and watched the films there seems to be a real disconnect between those who know the source material and those critiquing based on the films. It seems like each audience is looking for something specific. Personally I am enjoying the show as its own thing. Because that’s what it is. Legally they simply couldn’t use a lot of things from the films and have to sort of carve out their own story as a result. There’s also the glaring fact that a lot of this happened over hundreds and in some cases thousands of years. That’s a lot to sort of truncate in a way that is interesting for those who know the source material and those who don’t. They are not doing a perfect job but I also don’t think they are doing as poor of a job as some of the critiques want us to think.
It's because you don't have any standards for media and the creators of this show are inept and bad at their job, this is why normal people who don't watch reaction content all agree that this show is on a scale from boring and meh to horrible and insulting to tolkin.
Been invested in this season more than S1 and have found something compelling in each of the episodes, but I agree that this one in particular is the best yet! Loving the Sauron/Celebrimbor scenes the most, but enjoying Galadriel/Adar, Numenor, Stranger/Bombadil too (in that order) while feeling pretty indifferent towards the Hobbits, I'm afraid, but maybe that will change. Nice reaction, guys!
I commend you Greg for genuinely heeding the feedback and withholding excessive quipping. It really detracts from your own viewing experience at the end of the day. Btw majority of us were not trying to twist your words or hold a grudge against you personally. We want to watch you watch and comment - hence the feedback to make it a better experience for all :)
I’ve become unexpectedly invested in Númenor. The dynamic of Miriel and Elendil being bonded through their loyalty to Númenor, shared loss and faith. I also just got really attached to Míriel. I was biting my nails when she was in the “trial by sea monster” because I didn’t know what the show was going to do with her. I thought Elendil was about to lose another person he cares for.
WE LOVE IT GREG, IT’S ENTERTAINING 😢😂 reading the comments on the last one, & watching ur reaction at the same time to me was entertaining, although I commented.
I just can’t get over how great this season of the show has been. The crescendo we’ve been building to is about to pop off the next two weeks, methinks.
31:57 they actually did this amazing transition in one shot, using only lightning change and the actors moving from different positions, the bts of the show is crazy
I am questioning why they wrote such dialog in the other episodes on how the Mood of the Blacksmiths caused this magical quality and fused into the rings in the end. The Dwarves rings tainted by lying, now you have the team suffering oppression, anger, urgency and purpose, how does the writers keep no other mention of this now?
The real story was that all the rings were crafted together with annatar the 9 and the 7 over several hundred years . Then annatar left, and then the 3 were made by celebrimbor alone. Then the one was made, and celebrimbor realized he had been deceived. He fought a war against the elves and took back all the rings. Then he gave 7 to dwarves and 9 to men.
