  • Ghost kitchens, or restaurants for which the name on a food delivery app is different than the restaurant making the food, are becoming more common. abc7chicago.com/food-delivery...

I realized this awhile ago when I ordered from a burger restaurant and got cups from ihop.

The weird thing I noticed is that some apps allow you to order from one restaurant but combine menus from other restaurants. Like ordering Thai from a Pizzeria.

I’ve been many times to that buffalo wildwings across portillos. If the violation was fixed what is the problem? And I do remember once being there and a did see some flies lol

As long as they're washing their hands after they use the restroom before making your food.

A local ghost kitchen ended up being cooked in a dog wash facility.

Some are new business trying out their brand of food before full launch in their own establishment. It is much cheaper and easier to piggy bank on an already proven areas kitchen. Less startup costs.

One of the shadier reasons is to flood search results with multiple restaurants for the same address, as an arms race for space on the page. This often beats out real mom and pop shops.

Not true, kitchens can legally rent kitchen space as ghost kitchens, the business renting the space still has to have food safety training and manager or person in charge certification separate from the restaurant they rent space from, and they still have to follow all the rules for health code for that establishment.

Look up Eddie Burback's video on ghost kitchens. It's long, but it'll show you the problems.

"what do you mean there's been a murder? They can't do that, that's illegal!"

Absolutely because I’m opening a ghost kitchen next month and it’s totally legal.

They could face warnings for doing illegal business.

as long as you just don't order online ghost kitchens, not being lazy, and actually go in restaurants, we'll be fine.
personally, I never ordered food that delivers to my house, its a lazy practice, expensive, food isn't fresh
