    You guys gave me the confidence to give a couple of little projects a try. Two steps up in a split level garden and a 3 by 5 slab for a pool pump. long story short, you guys make this look so simple! half way though mixing my hand in a barrow, I thought to myself "this is how I die" then trying to get everything looking smart. hats off to you all amazing work.

    Nice looking slab. Joints nice and straight. What kind of slump do you pour at there? Here, the concrete company won't dump it that loose. 7" is the most they will let us pour here in Michigan. We also have this stupid air product they put in and if you don't hit your concrete with a vibrating screed, the top will peel right off after a winter or two.

    Hi I have a question?, I am looking for an idea of the cost to pour a 12×14 concreat slab, for Cement and labor what price range I should be hearing.

    • @seephor
      @seephor 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At 4" thickness you need 2 yards of concrete. At around $100 a yard, that's $200 plus a delivery fee say $60 so that's $260 for the concrete delivered. If you need a pump, that's another $150 depending on the time needed. Make it a total of $400 for the concrete and pump service. Now you can estimate the cost of the labor based on reasonable rates. Good luck

  • @BaronVonWhosit
    @BaronVonWhosit 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you have any recommendations on sealers brands. All the locals where I am want to to topical vs penetrating and from what I've read topical require more maintenance and are more slippery. I've have a plain parking pad/broom in back that I want to minimize oil stains.

    • @bartbuckland6805
      @bartbuckland6805 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Get some Master Protect 400. The stuff is pricey, but it lasts for many years. I do commercial and it is often the spec. It is a penetrating sealer and it keeps salts and liquids out of the surface of your concrete. It is also doesn't contain any sort of solvents, so it doesn't smell bad. It is environmentally friendly as well.

    Just moved into a 20 year old house with 6 concrete sections 8' by 10' each and every section has cracked at the 5 foot mark. The house is built on Bonneville Lake gravel here in central Utah and there is no uplift at the cracks so I assume it has metal in it (haven't taken my metal detector to it yet). I plan to have a slab poured in a few months for a motor home or trailer and want to avoid the unsightly cracks. What is better, thicker slab, better base or more seams? P.S. love your videos.

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the steel is to close to the surface, therefore the cracks every one foot, same lay out as the steel.

    You should have used wire mesh 6x6 , expansion joints and 4,000 psi concrete, 3,000 psi concrete on the finished driveway is consider a poor mix less cement powder in the mix. 3,000 psi to 3,500 psi are acceptable for a footing.

My 60 year old section has cracked and pushed over where my addition is going. I’m thinking on using 1x4’s and anchoring them with shims to the old section to form a straight line. Hope to within the next 2 years tear out that old stuff and lay up to my addition. How would you approach it? Thanks
