5 mins? yaah I didn"t expect that either but! seriously he was my favorite character (best thing) in the show n probably watched this ep like 5 times? ironic as it sounds because it was fan-fuckin'-tastic, blown away.. BUT they just have to go there - this better be not final and have the dead wife to bring him back!

Mad Sweeney stole the all the attention this last season, his acting was outstanding. he really got the inner turmoil of sweeney down to a pad, and you could see the fear on the character.
He got a better death compared to the book. I loved everything about the episode. Long live the King!
I agree 100%. Going out fighting like hell is much better than drunk and freezing to death!
Much better, but I admit I hoped they'd keep him around because the character was one of the most interesting ones on the show.
wtf are you talking about? the book ending was perfect. It was dark and bitter. this one is just some heroic hollywood dead. I loved the background story scenes from Ireland but i hated how he ended. 20 bucks for a ticket out is the perfect ending for mad sweney.
He's also a much better character in the show than he is in the book.

Mad Sweeney as lugh the sun king from the Tuatha de Danann. Now that’s awesome. It’s nice to finally see people bring them into the spotlight. Someone did their homework.

It's wonderful how they showed the conflict in Sweeney. He had in effect multiple personalities clashing in him from his multiple differing legends/myths.
Sweeney's true story is so good. It makes him more than what we would have thought of him. A true God King of Gold and Luck.
I was so sad to see him die but Laura carrying him away in the season finale gives me hope we will see him again.

It's actually very thematically appropriate for him to fight Odin, since the Celts were driven to the extremities of the British Isles (Scotland, Wales, Cornwall and Ireland) by the Anglo Saxons, Germanic tribes who revered Wotan, or Odin. It's one of the most epic religious clashes of Europe that has been halted some 1000 years. And as if being driven from their rightful land isn't enough, the Anglo Saxons and later the English suppressed the Celtic mythology to such an extent that Lugh Lamhfada became Lugh Cromfain, or "old stooping Lugh". And as a final nail in his coffin, the greatest of the Celtic gods, confined to a windy hill, a seídh, got his mocking nickname bastardized to Leprechaun.
If Laura doesn’t use that potion on Sweeney and/or take him back to New Orleans, I’m done.

though there was still some annoyance about it - re that scene with maman Brigitte in season 3. Apparently neither Maman nor the Baron would leave a body in such a bad condition.

Thing I love most about Sweeney is that his story isn't about "saving the princess" or anything like that, it's his self redemption arch. Finding himself again, remembering who and what he is; Mad Sweeney, the leprechaun god king. In the end, he knew exactly who he was, forgave himself, found himself and his honor and he left that one eyed bastard with the best line he could've given with 2 mighty middle fingers.
Mad Sweeney is the best character in the story. When I first saw him I thought he was an asshole, and just an antagonist. Now I love him, and I was a foot away from my Tv at the end of season two nearly crying. lol... His backstory was the best episode so far.
Our precious King deserves this amazing tribute 😍 My heart was broken so many times in this month and this is not the end yet 💔

Would love for the character to come back knowing he's the God King Lugh, depends if he's resurrected though. Also seeing the story of the Tuatha Dé Danann through the lense of American Gods could be incredible. Maybe expand on the moment MadSweeny claimed he speared Odin or his equivalent for that story

One of the best characters I have seen on TV in such a long time - I adore every bit of Mad Sweeney and I am so glad his story was extended way beyond his role in the novels!
What an excellent progression and character development and my heart was breaking for him even in his most asshole-ish of moments. I hope it isn’t he last of our Irish Mad King but I fear that was his story arc :(

breathe, Mad Sweeny show that story existe on top one and over and what that will do to a someone.
Little underwhelmed by the season finale..wish they would have ended it with Sweeny and the spear. He's my favorite on this show.

in the book he died even earlier, but it was a good death, when they reveal who shadow moon is you'll understand

Honestly, Mads was one of my favorite characters and one of the reasons why I even stuck with the second season (it was so vicious to sit through!) and it's bullshit that he got killed off!
Mad Suibhne, one of my favorite characters, wonderfully flawed, with a soul and a heart, he helped Wednesday kill Laura Moon because he owed a debt, and then he came to love her and finally gave his life for her. The actor is working another show now, and won't likely be back, but maybe he could be persuaded to do a cameo? BTW, did you produce this video? Excellent work!

"Hurt" and "Through the Valley" were good song choices for a Mad Sweeny theme. I'm sure we'll be seeing him return though because the only way a God can truly die and stay dead is through suicide. And he didn't kill himself. Can't wait to see him come back! 😁

Of all the inspired casting choices in this series, Pablo Schreiber's is the most surprising since he gives the wackiest performances balancing drama and comedy with equal skill. Nice comp video... and the choice of NIN's "Hurt" was pretty inspired as well!

doyls goin was given to shadow by Ganeshi before he sunk in the lake after finding the missing childrens bodies this is why he survived the ordeal i guess.
