    That's essentially an MRE without the wafer heater pack. Heating water and letting the sealed packs heat in the water makes it much better than cold, but certainly edible without eat. Biggest benefit to MREs or these similar meals is you can field strip the kit and pack in multiple pouches. Certainly will get ya through the day. Great video.

    I really appreciate the videos. I have lost 13 turkeys and 7 chickens this summer from bobcats and coyotes. I binge watched your videos today and ordered the Duke 650’s for my problems at home.
    Jumping through the state hoops now so I’m legit.
    Just wanted to say thank you for the trapping and information you share in these videos. I feel like I can get the hang of it and keep my girls safe lol

      And yes, throw those unopened packages straight in some water, get a slow boil going and massage with your hands and a towel about 4-5 min then put back in the water for another 2-3 min then take it out, open and enjoy ‘enjoy’ is more-less an exaggeration lol

  • @168Diplomat
    @168Diplomat ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yes you can put those bags in boiling water to heat them or eat them cold which usually sucks. The peanut butter needs kneaded before you use it and it and the jelly are used for the crackers. Or if you get one of the chocolate covered graham crackers the peanut butter is good on them. Yeah the tomato sauce on everything and the mush consistency is usually what gets you. Tobasco helps a lot. Lol

    • @BRADASSOFFGRIDHOMESTEAD
      @BRADASSOFFGRIDHOMESTEAD ปีที่แล้ว

      You should read the book "Estrogeneration" - Might make you think twice about putting it in boiling water.

    • @168Diplomat

      @@BRADASSOFFGRIDHOMESTEAD I ate them that way from 85-95 and again from 2001- 2007 and still alive and it beats eating them cold lol

    , the old mre's had hot sauce and tp in them along with a pack of paper matches . I still keep a.couple packs in my vehicle just in case. FYI the ones marked Mexican rice !? Use that for coyote bait ,not fit for human consumption!

  • @austinlawrence2599
    @austinlawrence2599 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Peanut butter is supposed to be paired with crackers I believe. Just like an MRE. Soup was a better idea though lol I’d like to think the peanut butter is bait for a 110 in a survival situation

    Check caloric intake of the meals. Usually provides the amount of calories required for an average person doing average labor. Very similar to the MRE's just without the heating element. You were correct in the fact that the bags can be put into boiling water.

    You can boil the pouches in water just don't drink the water when you're done. The chemicals in the bags isn't good for you. FYI.

    Didn't even know such a thing existed. I ate MRE's while in the Corps from 85 to 89, I'm sure they have changed a lot today. I bet the peanut butter and jam was meant for the crackers. The MRE's, well some of them, from when I was in had a cheese that oils would separate from, that cheese had a flavor that I actually miss today after 4 years of eating while out in the field.

    60% carbohydrates? Did you know the human body doesn't need a single carbohydrate to survive? The liver can make it's own glucose for certain functions. 60% carbs sounds like diabetes to me!

      Did you read the title of this video? It’s a humanitarian ration. It’s designed for refugees from natural disasters or wars. Something you can toss out of a truck or airplane and hope everyone gets one, but they might end up sharing with the family. And they might not have eaten in a few days before.

    • @BRADASSOFFGRIDHOMESTEAD
      @BRADASSOFFGRIDHOMESTEAD ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0xFF48 lol, You have a lot to learn about nutrition. Because it keeps you alive doesn't mean you should eat it. You're far better off eating nothing (fasting) than eating junk. Actually it would change the persons life for the better.... That can't be said about junk grains, and preservatives.
