Started playing and on the opposing team was a short Samoan kid. Must have been around 14. Both me and my pal were good basketball players. Athletic and we were used to dominating. Quickly we realized the best player on the court was this lightening fast kid. Hitting shots, driving the lane, ball handling like he was born to play ball. The kid didn't talk. Let his game talk. All i could think of was God blessed this young man with gifts I could only dream of. I was amazed how good he was. Years later I was reading in the newspaper about notable Oregon athletes. It mentioned Troy and his hometown. I realized I got schooled on the court by a future hall of fame Steeler. I got to compete against greatness. Pretty cool. Troy was amazing at all sports from what i've heard. Legend

Top 3 Steeler, and safety of all time. He was the embodiment of what it meant to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. Speak softly, but carry a big stick. One of my greatest memories is watching them beat the Cards with my old man, miss you pops! LETS GO STEELERS!!!
Why is this even a question? The incomparable Polumalu was the best safety of all time
I love Troy and I also think he’s the best S of all time. Even though a lot may think Ed Reed is, I accept that. Ed’s a Fkn dawg man. But Troys.........a fucking titan man
Elliott Ellison Listen Cuz I'm going to respectfully disagree with you, but now I gotta be a Prick... Yeah Cover Corner... that means he wasn't good enough to play corner so they had to put him as safety which Hines "Dancing of The Stars" Ward knocked Ed Reed out cold and Troy didn't have a Ray Lewis and Troy still had more Superbowls. Troy had Mannings number, but Reed had Brady's number that's where this disillusion comes from.
PS: Come to Pittsburgh all you "Ed Reed is better than Troy fans" and enjoy getting your as face kicked in after you get choked by some Jagov in a mullet using their terrible towel and will shove a Primanti's Pristrami Capacola sandwich with Double Egg while you scream and cry for Donnie Iris to come save you... Spoiler Alert Donnie Iris isn't coming... neither is Donnie Schell ANOYHER newly minted PITTSBURGH STEELER going in to the HOF :-) NOT ravens (and yeah i purposely didn't give that Formal Proper Noun a capital later)
Just like Rod Woodson is the greatest corner ever not Dieon Sanders
@The Crying Towel Ok everyone sees ur on ur burner account today.
Safeties it’s Rod, Ed, than Troy!
For a guy as soft spoken as he was! Then wen he hit that field! He was a totally different animal! Tasmania that iz all my Steelers fans kno! Definitely one of my favorites 2 play the game! Hof’er 4 sho
My friend who was a legend in football at his high school invited me to a pick up game of basketball in Troy's home town. Middle of nowhere Oregon. I was visiting my pal. Anyway, we were about 20. Legend
Troy was scary for all Quarterbacks. Where ever the ball was he was there 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Every time I see that picks six I get goosebumps
I'm not even a Steelers fan so this is an unbiased opinion- Troy Polamalu is the best football player of my generation. If anybody is lucky and works hard enough to be HALF as good as Troy, you're going to be the best player on the field... he was that good.
What a damn player... all time great ... Steeler nation for life
I feel so lucky to have been able too see this man play. He was unreal
1ST BALLOT! NO QUESTION! Troy""LONG HAIR DON'T CARE"" Polamalu
Wish we could turn back time and watch all these guys play again.
I've been a Pittsburgh Steelers fan for years and I've said for years Troy Polamalu is the best SS ever to play the game he's definitely THE 🐐🐐
Well said Ray Lewis. The humility. Troy was a special talent and accomplished more than most. Grats on a superb career. We miss you already.
No doubt. Troy man, you played the game with an intelligent passion. Congratulations on your H.O.F. well deserved. Thank you.
I wasn't even a Steelers fan but I LOVED watching this dude! These highlights do him no justice at all! This man was everywhere on the field. And read the other teams snap count perfectly! First ballot HOF'r for sure!
Awesome player and an awesome person! Congratulations to Troy!
It’s refreshing to listen to the legends of the Ravens/Steelers rivalry reflect on the evolution-they hated each other then & but now the respect from both side to each other for never yielding and what those games meant in retrospect
the reason i like the steelers lol also the only jersey i own is a #43
One of the joys of my life was watching Troy play Football for the Steelers. I feel so lucky to have watched every snap he played.
Did he not make first ballot...??? He doesn't require anyone talking him up, making pitches for him, his resume is complete...
The class hasn’t been announced yet, so no, he hasn’t.
@@quintontimler2765 Yes, saw that later, but thanks for info. Guess different parts of class (coaches) were announced first...??? Still, Troy must go in...!
Don Quixote yeah I didn’t remember it ever being like that, I thought the whole class was announced at the same time.
@@quintontimler2765 Exactly, so when I saw this video about why he should go in put out after those first announcements, I counted the years since he last played and figured he must not have made first ballot...
Don Quixote good news boys he made it!!!!
Troy was just so fucking raw, straight savage when it came to playing the game of football. When you put on the game back in the day when he was still playing you always knew he was going to eat no matter what straight fucking GOAT
I loved watching this brother play, he played with such reckless abandonment and passion! Without question a 1st ballot Hall of Famer.
Early 2000s Steelers and Ravens was some of the best football to ever watch. Passion was in those games. They were intense. I miss these days. I’m a die hard Raven fan and the magic back then was just different.
First a great man. 2nd a great football player. Thanks Troy💕
One of Steelers All Time Greatest defensive player maybe The Greatest Steelers defender. Fans from other teams loved to see Troy play and gave him much respect!✊🏿👊🏿
#43 Hall Of Fame definitely!
Steelers haven’t been the same since this man retired.
I didn't realize until the end of the video that I was watching with a huge smile on my face.
Polamolu highlights can do that to you.😁
He was a frickin maniac and he seemed to be everywhere
So grateful to have been able to see this great play live in his element. He truly a great human in every way.!
We love the Steelers and Troy polamalu definitely should be in the NFL Hall of Fame. In his time he was the best defense player in NFL. Leave a comment if you think Troy polamalu is the best player in the NFL. 😎
@Steven Enno they we're good but I like Troy.
@Steven Enno ok we all have our own opinion. Love Reed
@Steven Enno would you rather have ints or superbowls ? Id take troy he was more clutch then Ed
@Steven Enno Ed Reed was nowhere to be seen that AFC championship game😂😂😂😂😂Trou made big play after big play if your looking for stats Ed is your guy if your looking to win Troy's the man 😎
@Steven Enno when it's the AFC championship game yeah pretty much and he went to 3 superbowls how many did Ed go to?
I'm Steelers For Life. And it does my heart good to hear Righteous Football Warrior Athletes acknowledging one another!!!
Troy was the best player on the field every time he came out to play!! There was always hope. Big play supernatural plays!!!
Total respect coming from 2 men. Major key players in the business. And lay down the truth with honor and humility.
Mike Tomlin: Troy do what Troy does
I worked at the Best Buy in Greensburg Pa and Troy came in. Everything in the store just stopped. I felt bad for him cuz he just wanted to shop but the dude's a god in western pa.
Hands down THE BEST TO EVER PLAY THE POSITION!!
Ed Reed my boi
@@respectknuckles428 no way! Reed couldn't cover the whole field like Troy could.
@@stephenurso9267 u are drunk, that's literally what Ed Reed did was cover the whole field which is why he has so many picks and returned int for Tds
@@YorkwayDaKid are you on drugs? Covering the whole field also means stopping people at the line of scrimmage Wich is part of the field.troy covered the run better than Reed ever could.when I said whole field I meant the WHOLE field not just the secondary!!!!
@@stephenurso9267 WHOLE FIELD but yet they have around the same amount of SOLO tackles. Troy has 12 sacks, Ed with 6 but INTs, Fumbles Returned, Interceptions etc Ed destroys Troy. So again saying Reed couldn't cover the whole field like Troy is false.
An awesome athlete. An amazing Steeler. It was a joy watching him play.
Softest voice, hardest hitter
One of the greatest and most humble to play that position! Loved watching him play.
Favorite football player ever for me
Thank you for everything Troy. Pittsburgh loves you
Another reason why Ravens Steelere rivalry was so awesome. Got to see 2 of the best safeties ever.
The way he read the game especially the Quarterbacks actions and eyes was in a different level. He got the instinct of the defensive football Gods.
One of the greatest Trojans ever! So happy he has come back to visit the university and players in the locker room since retiring. Very very rare for him.
One of the GREATEST football players I’ve ever fucking seen play!
I agree he should be in the HOF if you watched a game he was everywhere. Relentless
An all Steelers' secondary...Blount and Woodson at the corners and Polamalu and Shell as the safeties. Carnell Lake as the slot corner and Mike Wagner in the dime package. Man, what a great group that is...all physical guys who could cover...
Hall of fame NOW!!!!!! nothing else need to be said.
I will never forget watching #43 play for Pittsburgh and enjoying every minute of it! Troy is and will probably always be my favorite player ever!
Troy Polamalu: Lines up in the C gap
Pat McAfee: WTF man 😥
I was looking for a C Gap comment. Thank you my friend.
I'm a long time Steelers fan from the 70's, Troy would have fit in with those teams just fine, one of the best of all time at his position in any era
ARE WE REALLY HAVING A DISCUSSION ABOUT WHETHER TROY IS A HALL OF FAMER ? LOL...THE SAFETY OF A GENERATION WOW😊
This man gave me so many great moments as a fan. All world as a persona and player. TP43
His moves amazed me. The way he ran, jumped or quickly out maneuvered his opponents. He was like a cat.
Amazing. Give you chills. I miss those times
The only one who speaks on his Hof career is Troy, hands down the best in his position and my first pick if I ever started building a defense...
Truuuuuuuuuuth
Tory is up with the best but hes not prime time
@@diegorjalvarado 👮 think the comment police is here...
If you referring to Reed or Dawkins, they was nice indeed, but potato tomato Bruh it still remains the same I'm still taking Troy because I've been there since USC Trojans ✌️ and Jr Seau, and Ronnie Lott, and Adoree Jackson, and Ray maoluga, and Bruh... He comes from prestige and 🧬 DNA lol
Had his jersey as a kid legend ❤️
As a cowboys fan, lucky to have the chance to watch him play before he retired, great atittude on and off field. He deserves to be in the Hof, if not then they need to cancelled the H.O.F period, as this guy is one of the hardest working players in the nfl, gave his heart to the game he loves, us fan's thank you troy, you're a H.O.F player in my book!!!!!😊
Edit: I'm not doing this for likes nor comments i really mean it, i secretly watch troy play for steelers not im not a steelers fan, but one of the best organizations in the businesses, and i don't believed that big ben sexual harrass a woman someone tried to set him up, just like zeke Elliott was, and players have to be careful about going to partys, if you have a party, created one with people you know that are loyal family and friends to have a good time and be safe everyone ok, peace out, god loves everyone no matter race or color of someone skin we are all God's children!!!!!🤗
Been a Steelers fan since 3rd grade I'm 24 now! And boy do I miss these days!! Watching troy play was amazing!! I played safety in my football career and man did i want to be like him!!
