When I knew this Yes -90125 was out for release I bought two copies both for my own private vinyl collection.

The title was the catalogue number at first, but then the company changed it. The title remained because Chris Squire liked it that way and not the catalogue number the record was actually issued with.

I was listening to Joe Walsh solo albums in the late 70’s and I stay in Aberdeen Scotland, so I was aware.

Thanks, Michael. I was on the fence with this Yes release. A little too much Owner of a Lonely Heart on the radio back in the day. The Atlantic series has been so good, your review pushed me off the fence, and I’ll give it a shot. Thank you.

Thanks Michael you just convinced me to buy the YES album. By the way they pronounce the title “ nine oh one two five”. As always thank you for your reviews.

I cannot wait for my copy of 90125 to arrive this coming week. This was the first title I planned to order when the Atlantic 75 series was announced! During the Fragile/Yes Album/Close to the Edge era, I was only 8 and 9 yrs old, so it was Drama in 1980 (at my 17 yrs old) and then 90125 in 1983 as a 20 yr old, that turned me onto Yes and it remains my fave Yes album! I have come to love Fragile and that era (University dorms in 1980!), but 90125 is so amazing. Like you, it was hard to find a good sounding copy, so I have huge expectations for this title! I cannot wait! Cheers

Fantastic Michael so happy you enjoyed the album.
Hold on & It Can Happen are killer tracks.
    Leave It amazing vocal harmonies.
I know this record like the back of my hand & cannot wait for my copy to arrive.
    Analogue Productions take another bow.
Unbelievable the work going into these reissues.
Personally can’t believe it that we are talking about Yes albums getting the ultimate treatment in AP 75 reissue series.
The Yes Album coming next month can it get any better.
    The Joe Walsh love it.
I was about to pull the trigger then I listened to my Uk Og.
Wow the original sounds incredible a bit like the original Bad Company.
I’m pretty sure AP at least matches it and betters it.
Don’t go to sleep on the Og .
Best thing is to have both.
Michael as always hope you’re well ✊

Absolutely fantastic album. As you say, the drums on Hold On are mind blowing. Might pick this one up even if I really like my original pressing.

90125 is one of the Yes albums that I think gets overlooked on the production side, people thinking there isn't a lot of depth there. I feel there is any it really is a good record to give active listening to.

Michael, the original Japanese Yes 90125 has MASTERDISK RL in the deadwax. It has stunning, black silences and superb sound. I got it for €20 about two years ago.

Ok, Michael. Thanks so much, Chad Kassen for those albums of John Coltrane: I hope his "Coltrane's sounds". Michael, my friend, you have contact with Zev Feldman (Resonance/Elemental Records): could you have a suggestion him? A new "repress" in vinyl of "Some other time" by Bill Evans, please. Thanks, Michael, from Madrid, Spain.

I have a copy of the Coltrane album by ORG on 45rpm, mastered by BG. I wonder how they compare?
As for the Joe Walsh, I listened to my 33rpm AP version last week, mastered by KG, and it is superb. I don’t know if going for the 45rpm makes sense or not.

  • @highfell1

Michael - not sure why you couldn’t have compared with an original pressing of 90125- on discogs there are loads of NM copies shipping from Germany with RL lacquers that are “cheap as chips”. The drums on the original pressing that I have also sound very very good on Hold on. I am waiting on my copy of the new AP pressing with anticipation

Not sure about Germany and other EU countries but in North America and Britain we call that Yes album 9 O 1 2 5 not 90 125. Perhaps it's different there for European Yes fans.

Excellent video, as usual :) I wonder if they consider to reissue other Joe Walsh albums as well. I own two original (one still sealed) US pressings for But, Seriously Folks..., and pressings of that album - even some recent reissues - are widely available in perfect condition. This in general seems not to be the case for albums like So What, You Can't Argue With A Sick Mind and Barnstorm. I do hope they will be part of a future reissue campaign (which are the rumors). In my opinion, Joe Walsh his solo output is a bit underrated, maybe overshadowed by his work with the James Gang and the Eagles. But especially his 70s work, is top notch to say the least. Hopefully this beautiful Smoker reissue will be the start of many things to come. ~Marjet

I received my copy of Yes 90125 last week. From the first drop of the needle " Owner of a Lonely Heart " smacked me right in the face. This, by far, is the best sounding version ever released. Thank you for sharing this treasure piece of music. Cheers from Indiana. By the way just curious how is analog productions going to be able to release " Close to the Edge " track at 45rpm? Alot of material for one side of music?

Wann kommt endlich die Aja als 7-Fach-Schuber, auf 78rpm/single sided?
Der Preis wird dann zwar bei ~€5k liegen.
Aber was man da dann so alles hören könnte ...

I was so excited to get this release of 90125. One of my favorite 80’s album. Unfortunately I was disappointed in the sonics. It sounded harsh and way too forward to me.

AP is laying waste to all specialty pressings. And a hell of a lot cheaper! Not to mention the tanks they're shipped in. Hats off to Chad and company 👏
As for 90125 Changes has become my favorite over the years. It Can Happen not far behind. Great album.

Mildly disappointed with the packaging of Plays The Blues - would have been nice to have had the originals laminated cover reproduced and the white fan label of the first pressing. Otherwise pretty damn good IMO.

Yes… IMO it’s just one of the worst band ever. If RKS or BG would remaster a fart in a trumpet some audiophile would find it so wonderful. In the other hand I’ll definitely get the Coltrane.

'Worst band ever...' I like this kind of definitive and mindless statement. But 90125 was obviously not the best choice to start this serie. IMHO it is one 'of the worst Yes album ever', to quote your rethoric. But just my opinion. Hope those who like this kind of Prog-FM will enjoy it.
