These Bill Evans Records are such icons in Jazz History. To own them in such high-quality as the UHQR provides is an easy choice. Thank you, Michael !

I just listened to both records and am completely overwhelmed. Not only the music, but also the recording and quality are sensational. For me, it's the 'best' that has ever been on my turntable so far. Incredibly beautiful. Simply wonderful. Thank you, Michael for making it easy for me to get this records.

Thank you for the review of these luxury item, iconic albums. We are very fortunate if a main challenge in our lives is deciding which version to buy. Luckily I look forward to opening my UHQR copy of each very soon. Danke for all you do to help us upgrade and expand our record collections. Cheers! 😊

What iconic albums! I have both as reissues, but never the less love 'em. Thanks for the review of the UHQRs and comparing the different pressings. Good job Michael, Grüße aus Wien 👍

It's great to hear that these two extraordinary jazz albums have received such an excellent royal treatment from Chad and everyone at AP/QRP. I can't say enough positive things about the Bill Evans Trio on these recordings. These two albums in this excellent quality could easily be in the core of great titles in someone's true audiophile collection.

Quite amazing how good the original tapes hold their quality after all the time. Especially evident, when this UHQR reissue is able to beat slightly the OG‘s.

My copies arrived today and they are just as beautiful sounding as you described. Absolutely gorgeous. For anyone hesitating to buy…. don’t. The clarity and detail is amazing and these albums will be a favourite of your vinyl collection. The only negative(and it is the ONLY negative) is having to flip a record over every 8 minutes or so. The 45 rpm allows for better sound quality but albums like this are better when you can sit and listen and absorb and take in an entire side without having to move every few minutes. I’m glad I bought them because I absolutely LOVE them but I have to be honest about this one down side. Thank you Michael for the informed opinion that pushed me over the edge to buy.

Excellent post, Michael! Your way to share your feelings is pleasant and fully enjoyable. I don't like 45 format expecially for live concerts, bur who knows....
Thanks once again and all the very best.

In the "what abouts" that you didn't have on hand to compare, the Craft OJC's that were recently released, and then the MOFI version of SATVV. I have the Craft versions and am very happy with them. The MOFI reversion I have is still sealed.

Nice to see you back doing a traditional review Michael. The big question for me is how they compare with the OJC series?

At some point…unless you have deep pockets…you have to take into account return on investment. $150+ over the K. Gray cut analog version I already have…not needed. Just wish they had taken their UHQR process to releases of which we didn’t already have fine versions.

    • @paulspanbauer4125

@@paulspanbauer4125 Same here. I shelled out the $900 for that box set when they re-released it last year and it does sound very fine indeed. Of course part of me still covets these two new UHQRs, but already having 45RPM versions makes me think I should resist the urge.

I'm thrilled that we as music fans can buy such high-quality editions these days. But what really gets on my nerves is the overpowering Bill Evans release overkill in recent years. It feels like there's a Bill Evans release every 2 months, every RSD etc. There are hundreds of jazz records that deserve to be re-released.
IMO Bill Evans is quite a bore on the piano, but that's my personal opinion. Dear record companies, there are others than Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Bill Evans. More from other artists, please. I wish Evans fans a lot of fun with these albums.

    Hi Michael,
das ist jetzt zwar etwas off topic, aber ich wollte Dich fragen, ob Du ein Review Video machen wirst zu der Stooges ERC? Das würde mich sehr interessieren….;-)

I have audiophile 45rpm records and they of course sound great, but I never play them, not to avoid them on purpose but having many records as many do I seem go for longer play options.

The drummer's name is Paul Motian and not Motion. If you are a poor individual like me, you can get 12 of Bill Ewans classic albums from 1956-62, in a CD box, for 20 euro.

I got one of the new Rhino HF Devo LPs with the tiny bit of in fill on track one (well documented). I sent them one email about it and within days they were sending me a replacement to Australia.... no questions asked. I spent thousands and thousands of dollars with Acoustic Sounds during the pandemic. Then in one large $800 order I got an unplayable $25 LP (warped, off centre etc). I was told to send it back for a refund. I said I was not spending $35 to send back a $25 LP from the other side of the world. Case closed. No response to further emails, calls or a hand written letter to Chad. I have not purchased from them since (I would have pre-ordered the whole Steely Dan UHQR set). It’s now been nearly 2 years since purchasing anything from Acoustic Sounds. Chad and Acoustic Sounds can f-off.

Yes yes yes, finally, I can skip something from Analogue Productions 😉
Did order the new Stone Temple Pilots and Foreigner but this kind of music is really way to lame and boring for me.
Did listen to all the old Metallica albums incl. the Black album, same for Mötley Crüe and Wishbone Ash the last days so this music-style of Evans really takes me to sleep.
Finally saved some money but when I listen to Chad Kassem on "Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion" Channel 3 days ago I for sure will need the money what I saved with the Bill Evans albums very soon

Each to their own ….in my mind Motley Crüe one of the trashiest worst talentless bands in history….and that’s by a long way
