Hey guys! I wanted to let you know I just launched an "Insiders" Newsletter where once a week I'm sharing an important lesson I've learned in aviation, links to my latest content so you don't miss out, and links to any other interesting or helpful content I've found. I'm also working on a HUGE project I can't announce yet but I'm going to be sharing more behind the scenes info with Insiders first - Subscribe (it's free) at: airplaneacademy.com/insiders
I could never afford flight training. I joined the Army and after I served ( 72-75 ), I got my PPL . The GI Bill paid 90% for the rest of my training. I am soon to retire after 48 years of flying. It has been fantastic. Thank you Uncle Sam and God Bless America 🇺🇸
I’m 21 and I’m a girl. I was a flight attendant at age 18 but I loved flying since I was a kid and always wanted to be a pilot, the only thing that has stopped me is the cost of it. Now I know there’s ways around it and I can get a loan if I’m studying a course (which I know isn’t necessary as such) but it sure will help. I’m doing my first flight lesson next week in about 5 days! So excited!!
Good info thanks!! My first lesson is next Tuesday. My groundschool classes start tonight. Been wanting to fly for many years but never felt I had enough time. Gonna be awesome!
I started flight training almost 40 years ago. I passed the medical, and ground school and was just about to solo when I had to stop for financial reasons (READ: starving student). I always promised myself I'd start again from scratch someday. Your videos are inspiring me to take another run at it as I approach retirement and will have the time and resources to really commit to completion of a PPL. I hope that I get a CFI as positive and inspirational a pilot as you are Charlie. Thanks for the great videos, and keep them coming !
Hi JP - thanks for the comment and for sharing your story. If there's anything I can do to "nudge" you in the direction towards flying, let me know. Very excited for all the fun flying still in front of you if you decide to pursue it. Keep us posted!
The thrill of my first glider flight is indescribable. I got to handle controls and without funds never followed up but it is addictive! My uncle was a duster and WWII pilot, Dad Radar gunner Navy, and cousin CAP. Get going!
I’m starting pilot school in January and I’m very anxious because I feel like I’m know nothing about flying but this video makes me feel so much better about my emotions thank you a lot
Great video Charlie. Really enjoy watching your lessons and picking up all kinds of great information. Starting training soon for my PPL You rock dude!
Just took my first discovery flight yesterday. Taking off and turning was pretty intimidating. I was flying the piper archer. Definitely need more time to figure out if becoming a pilot is something I want to do in the long run. Need at least 3 to 5 more sample flights to make that decision. I’m thinking about flying the Cessna 172 next to see which is better/ easier.
Really appreciate I come to this video of yours!! I’m going to start my first flight lesson next Tuesday. I’m kind of nervous, but excited at the same time. I will surely remember this day up till I went to succeed in the future. Thanks for creating such an inspiring videos..
Great video. I’m in high school and I’ll be starting my first lesson tomorrow starting on a scholarship. This video is quality, no more or less than it needs to be to give as much helpful knowledge as possible. Thanks!
Fantastic. Thanks for the comment and I'm really excited for you to jump in the cockpit. It's not easy, and not always cheap, but it's ALWAYS been worth it.
hey man can I ask you how you started getting flight lessons as a high schooler? I'm currently a sophomore going onto junior year next year and I want to know how I could get started.
@@nobetashere5608 Hey! I'm a rising junior as well, and for me, I was really lucky and found a scholarship that one of the major flight schools in my city was offering to high schoolers. I applied and was accepted, and I'm really thankful for that. If you can't find any local scholarship opportunities, there are national flight scholarships that are offered, and if you're involved with Civil Air Patrol in your area, I know that they have some nationally awarded scholarship options as well. Sadly it seems that (especially local) scholarships are a fairly rare case but they're a great opportunity to capitalize on when possible. Even with a scholarship, though, I'm only having the beginning of my training paid for, so my plan is to save all the money I can while working and use that, but also see if relatives are willing to help me, as I'm fortunate enough to have some relatives who could possibly (keyword possibly) help out with that sort of thing. It really comes down to research about your avenues of income and the flight schools in your area. It's difficult to start in high school like we are but flying these last couple weeks has been one of the most rewarding feelings I've had in my life and I'm excited every time I make the drive to my airport. Tell me how it goes and good luck in your flying career.
@@thejaydoctor4327 Thank you, I've looked into it and I've kinda realized that pilot training can be quite expensive which I unfortunately can't afford :/ But my main goal is to hopefully become a pilot in the USAF, I know it's a very competitive and difficult process but I really think if I put in the effort I could hopefully make it. Although I'm pretty sure the USAF provides pilot training for officers in the Air Force, I was just looking into pilot training for high school students to have some experience before starting my big journey. Again I appreciate the info, and I wish you good luck as well in your flying career. :)
@@nobetashere5608 Great! My dream school for college is the Air Force Academy, and they give out a lot of pilot slots. A sizable percent (almost half, I believe?) of every graduating class gets slots. You should apply, we'd be classmates since we'd be in the same graduating year. They also have a lot of undergrad aviation opportunities, like a glider program that takes you from zero to instructor glider pilot throughout your tine at the academy and a powered flight team for those who already have their private license. Sorry this was kind of a nerd ramble but if you want to be an Air Force pilot, you should consider applying as well!
Going for my discovery flight in a few days. I like how you communicate and the way the video is. Feels like I'm in the plane and you are talking directly to me. Good video.
@@ahmedfarah4094 it went great and I've now been flying every couple weeks for the past two years, I soloed last April and am on track to get my license by next summer 👍
I want to learn to fly. Most interested in flying a motor glider or something with the safety characteristics of a Diamond DA 40. I’d like to fly around where I live in upstate NY for fun. But also I want to fly from NY to FL or MI, or from upstate NY to the Adirondacks. What flight sim will help me learn before I start my lessons? What joystick or fake controls should I get?
just a quick question, what did you need to do to start flying like after highschool, where did you go what paths did you go down to actually get to/do your first flight lesson
This has been my passion all my life and I’m finally pressuring it thank you for your share of knowledge, all I’ve played is air simulators lol which i imgaine the real thing is a lot different
