      5⁵/10⁵ = (5/10)⁵
      Reduce the fraction 5/10 down to 1/2
      = (1/2)⁵
      This a fraction raised to a power. When you have a fraction raised to a power, apply the power to the numerator and denominator:
      = 1⁵/2⁵
      Simplify
      1⁵ = 1
      2⁵ = 32
      = 1/32 😀

    What I found confusing was the “flipping” - when turning a negative exponent into a positive. This actually happens in two videos as per below expressions:
    2^-2 = 1/2^2 = 1/4 (whole number turned into a fraction)
    And
    (1/2)^-2 = (2/1)^2 = 4/1
    Here both terms are flipped. The overall take away I believe, is the desire to “turn negative exponents into a positive exponent”… ? Don’t know if I’m off about this. Major thanks anyways

    • @Eat_Pi
      @Eat_Pi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You bring up a great point! I think most educators teach you to turn the exponents positive simply because it's easier to evaluate that way.
      Remember, a negative exponent just means you're dividing by the same number over and over again. Or another way to say that is: you're multiplying by the reciprocal over and over again.
      So an easier 'trick' to do that is just flip your number and turn the exponent positive. Hope that clarifies it a little bit!

    What if. 2³÷5². Please solve this without expanding their powers .

    • @Eat_Pi
      @Eat_Pi  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you can't manipulate the powers, these numbers are small enough that you can solve it straight away:
      2³=8
      5²=25
      Final answer = 8/25
      We can't reduce that anymore, so that would be your final answer

    what would you do if the base was like 2/3 and it doesn't divide into a whole number?

    • @Eat_Pi
      @Eat_Pi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm... you want to give me the exact problem?

    • @Sid_vx
      @Sid_vx ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Eat_Pi sure (2/3)^2 but the full question is (2/3)^2 / (1/2)^6

    • @Eat_Pi
      @Eat_Pi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Sid_vx Got it, so there's several ways you could solve it, the easiest would be applying the exponents to the bases since the bases are small numbers and easy to work with.
      I'm going to rewrite the problem using a ÷ symbol to avoid confusing you with all the fraction bars so:
      (2/3)²/(1/2)⁶ = (2/3)² ÷ (1/2)⁶
      Apply the exponents to the fractions:
      = 2²/3² ÷ 1⁶/2⁶
      = 4/9 ÷ 1/64
      To divide a fraction by a fraction, multiply by the reciprocal:
      (4/9) * (64/1)
      To multiply fractions, multiply straight across:
      The Numerator would be 4×64 = 256
      The Denominator would be 9×1 = 9
      So final answer is 256/9
      Can't reduce it so it'd be your final answer. Let me know if that made sense or if you want me to make a video for it to clarify 👍

    What is 0.7÷1.6×10^-19

    • @Eat_Pi
      @Eat_Pi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This seems more like a scientific notation type of problem but one way we can simplify is like this:
      0.7 ÷ 1.6 = 0.4375
      0.4375 * 10^-19 = 0.4375 * (1/10^19) = 0.4375/(10^19)
