I thinks it is an age or generation thing. I’m in my late 40’s and can relate to this guy much more than the flat bill, hipster hunters like The Hunting Public etc. Also being a Southerner has a lot to do with it.

      @jerrodladner3019 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@glennwhittington7783 yes it does. I live about 3 hours south of the do it yourself guys and I know how hard it is to hunt these woods. I'm also 45 myself. I do like the hunting public but Aron Daniel and ms sandy are the best on youtub for learning and entertainment. I have no doubt I have hunted some same woods as these guys cause I take alot of time off in turkey season and hunt all over the state. It would be awesome to bump into them one morning

We are the same age. I have my dad’s Winchester 32 Special in my safe with a fresh coat of oil. I remember when I was young when he’d come back from hunting and leaned it against the wall with the action open. Good memories. Keep making videos. I like your commentary.

I thank the Lord, I still have my Dad and still have the opportunity to hunt with him. He is now 76, and I can tell he is starting to slow down . I know someday coming, he might not feel like hunting or not be able to go. So I'm gonna enjoy every moment I can with him. You brought back memories when you left your gun in the tree. I left my rifle on the ground under the tree. Eventually, I realized it about halfway on my way out. Shift workers blues...I came back the next morning and killed Big Ole wide 5 point about 18 inches wide. Good luck on the rest of your season, and God Bless.

My father passed away when I was 50. I'm now 53 and hunt like you do but on private properties. I remember my father never really hunting. But he had me and 3 other kids to take care of. My parents both run a family business of ceramic tile installer. We travel from Mississippi to Tennessee, Florida all of working , but Georgia is home and where we as a family grow up. We worked 3 acres of land as a family for a garden in spring and summer as well as working with momma and daddy. As far as hunting the main thing is he always made sure by friends or uncles is hunting clubs . I [ the only hunter in the family] always had a place to hunt every season. As a family sport in the summer time [ mostly at night] we [ me , daddy and mom would crappie fish ( lake oconee). I still have my father's old 12 gauge and a old single shot 22 magnum. Good video and good hunt. Good luck and stay safe. We at our age are getting to old to hunt for them trees any more. I now mostly hunt for a ground blind. I became a mechanic, welder, trailer hitch tech. And own my own trailer hitch and repair shop. Tile work is very hard on the old back muscles.

Great episode! I lost my dad in 2020 and I've hunted his stand the past 3 deer seasons on my farm. I've killed two of my best bucks out of that stand and every time I sit that stand, I can feel him right there beside me. Appreciate all the dialogue and background! Keep doing what you guys do!

My Dad passed away on March 7th 2015 @81 years old. What a magnificent Life he had. I come from a long line of Hunters on my Dad’s side of the family. He instilled the love of the Outdoors in me as a small boy when I could barely walk. I never knew of another man from Arkansas that loved to Squirrel 🐿️ Hunt more than my Dad. He was self employed his entire Life & was Successful. Dad & Mom were married 64 years when He passed. He would close his shop down for a SOLID week in October & as I grew, as long as my Grades were not below a B, I was able to go with him on this trip every October. He called it “Squirrel Camp of Life” ..😂! Oh the Campfires that were made, the Life Lessons he would teach me around those Campfires & most of those lessons are still prevalent in my Life today. Dad was my best friend until I married Nancy then he became my 2nd best friend. I sure do miss him as now being 63 myself, I love the Outdoors as Hunting/Fishing make up my entire being. Lost Nancy on February 23rd 2021, we were married 41 years. (Married very young). She would have been 61 this past August. How I so miss them both. But my love for the Woods/Waters have never faded. I retired last year & now I go hunting & fishing several times a week. Thanks for keeping your show REAL. you sleep in your SUV, you make your own lunch, hunt Public ground that everyone has the opportunity to do so, and you portray an example that everyone has the same ability to follow if they so choose. I am a huge fan.

Thank you Jeremy for bringing back memories. I watch all your videos. My dad who passed in 2002 hocked his favorite rifle to buy me and my brother single shot shotguns for Christmas. I found the receipts for the transaction after I received his gun cabinet after he died. I am 67 now and still remember getting that first shotgun back when I was 11 or 12. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.

My dad passed away in Sept 2013. I bought him a new Ruger Skeleton .308 in 2011. He never got to hunt with it. Someone broke into my cabin and stole that gun. I never got it back. My dads favorite Holiday was Christmas and being with family. He taught me to fish and hunt and about being a man. Thank you for the videos and content you guys put out.

I lost my Dad on March 25th of this year he was 74. He worked for the Arkansas Forestry Commission most of his life fighting forest fires. Needless to say I grew up outdoors occasionally going with him to fires and just watching him operate that JD 450 made in the 70’s!! Had me in awe. I wanted to be just like him. Well when 911 hit I quit college and joined the Navy. Did 21 years. Not six months after I retired he passed away. We had so many plans that never came to fruition. I regret not being able to spend more time with him because I was always out to sea. He would always take me hunting and the guns I remember the most was his 30-30 marlin, 444 marlin and his laurona double barrel 12. I still have them to this day. Some of his favorite sayings was there is nothing wrong with good ole fashioned manual labor, it’s what makes this country go round and I would much rather work with someone that put in the time with hard work and persistence rather than working with someone that relies on talent alone!! He was a wise man and my hero!! I miss him dearly. Love the channel keep up the great work. Much love from my family to yours. God Bless!!

Took my dads old gun this year and let my son kill his first and second deer with it (6 point and doe). My dad passed in 98 when I was 14 years old. He was only 39 which is how old I am now. We spent every spare minute hunting together and his rifle means the world to me. To have my son take his deer with it was a real moment for me! Love you guys and love the channel. We came to the buck expo in bham just to meet y’all and you gave my son a grunt call. We’ve had a great year. Big thanks!!

Jeremy this brought a few tears to my eyes. Throughout the show I thought about all the times I deer hunted, and rabbit hunted with my dad, all the ball games we played together, and the enormous amount of hours Rana and me have spent with Laken and Bree boating. I hold on to as many memories as I can. Thanks for reminding me. Shan

My grandpa hunted with a 30-30 most of his life. He got to where he couldnt hunt so me and my brother inherited it. I got it on sight and hunted basically a whole season with it. Never killed a deer but my uncle that grew up watching his dad hunt with it having one himself and my other uncle sold it he talked about getting another one so i gave him my grandfather’s gun. 2 weeks later he killed the biggest buck of his life with it. I wasnt there to witness it but my dad was hunting about 300 yards away said he could hear him screaming in joy. Went over and they found the buck together. It was a great thing to hear as his wife had also just passed away the year before. I love this channel and look forward to every video to come.

Jeremy, your podcasts are always life lessons and I hope everyone watching and listening learns from you, Daniel and Sandy. My dad never hunted but when I turned 14, he bought me a Winchester 94 thirty thirty. I hunted until I no longer could. It's been 2 years since I've been able to tie my shoes but I was able to hunt 60 years until my back and hips no longer work for me. My memories are priceless to me but that's all I have. I'm sure your grand kids and great grand kids will cherish the videos you are taking now. Thank you for taking the time to do for everyone to enjoy. 🙏

As tuff as this past month has been I've been able to have one of my best seasons in quite some time and tagged out on my own property which is mind blowing to me. Your videos are very awesome and down to earth which is much appreciated! You all have inspired me to start planning an out of state deer hunt with a good friend of mine so I also thank you for that! I try to sit down and talk to my dad as often as possible. He's 72 years old. He didn't hunt but when I was a kid he took me hiking into the mountains behind our home in PA all the time. He introduced me to the adventure of the mountains and he got me my first shotgun at age 14 to hunt with. He introduced me to the world of travel and the adventure that went with that. His job included travel all over the world. He brought back coins for me from all the different countries he visited, rocks from a lot of different countries, an awesome hunting knife from Germany, swords from Japan.... Any time I kill a deer my first trip is to show my dad. He introduced me to so much that's made me what I am. I'll miss him terribly when he's gone.

Great video. My dad took me to deer camp in 1965 I was three. Warped me in a blanket and we hunted off the ground. I Killed my first deer in 1970 with him beside me. 2010 was the last time we hunted together in Illinois. Dad still going strong but not hunting anymore. He will turn 81 in January. Dad taught me a lot great things in my life. 1 how to work. 2 taught me about Jesus. 3 to deer hunt. Could not ask for a better dad.

Thanks for the message! As with so many of y’all, I was blessed to have a tremendous Dad. He was a tough old Mill worker that raised 5 kids. He had little time to hunt and fish but he’d take me out when he could. We did some fishing when he retired but sadly he only lived a year after his retirement. He would always bring home a poinsettia for our Mom every Christmas. He was a great family man!!!

I have a Marlin 30Aw 30-30 that belonged to my Dad. Same story he didn't hunt a whole lot but he made sure I got to go. He passed away in 2011 and I have killed a deer with that gun every year since he has been gone. I married a girl who already had an 8 year old son prior. In 2021 I took him hunting for his 1st time, and he has killed a deer with that gun every year since. He never got to meet my Dad, but I know some day he'll understand the tradition that we have started, and hopefully his little boy will kill one with it, and pass it on down the line. Love watching yalls stuff man, you guys are awesome!

Yesir I have a gun my dad bought from his uncle when he started going down in health . My dad was not a big hunter either , but he managed to find time here and there to take me hunting because I drove him up the wall until he did lol. I don't kill a deer every year with it . Mainly because it's older and it's a wooden stock . So I don't like to take it but on certain days when it's clear weather . I was 48 when my dad passed away . Him and my daughter were my favorites and they both are gone now . Lost my daughter in 2010 and lost my dad in 2020 . I wish I could be half the man my dad was . They don't make em like that anymore . Worked 7 days a week 2nd shift just about his whole life . He didn't get me everything I wanted , but he made sure I had everything I needed . Old school . Love the show buddy .

Being the only daughter out of 3 who hunts he gave me his 308 Winchester rifle. I've killed a few deer with it and always thought of my dad. I use a different gun now, but every time gun season comes around I like to think my dad is watching over me. Love your videos. Still miss him after 13 yrs.

I watch all of DIYH videos and this one has to be one of my favorites. My Dad doesn't hunt anymore but he always took the time to take me hunting when I was a kid. If I wasn't hunting with my Dad I had two uncles and grandpa I hunted with. One of my uncles and grandpa have passed but I have alot of fond memories hunting and fishing with them. I have one of my uncles old rifles and I have been wanting to take a deer with it. This video has given me the motivation to get it done. At 52 yrs old I think about some of the same things as you, about we never know when its the last time we get to go to the woods and get in that treestand. I have twin grandbabies that are 2 yrs old, I hope to get to make alot of memories with them. Thanks for the videos.

This was an awesome episode. I remember the one from last year when you paid tribute by using his rifle. Keep his memory alive and keeping tradition is important. We are roughly the same age and I lost my Dad 18 years ago. He died a week before his 62nd birthday. He was only retired for one year when he passed. I made it my mission to retire as young as I could and enjoy life, and I did just that at 49 years old. No more work getting in the way of hunting season. My wife retired a few years after me, and now we travel and spoil the grandkids. She knows Oct thru Nov is my time in the woods.
Congrats on the upcoming grand-baby. And Miles is adorable. They definitely keep you feeling young.

I made a comment last year when you did this style video about my father and his cancer battle and not being sure if he could hunt, and he took a nice 8 pointer and 9 pointer. Well this year his battle has gotten worse but thank the great Lord he took a nice 10 point back in early November. His cancer has moved to his brain and the last last several weeks have been different with him. But watching you and last year's video and now this one I know it's gonna be ok. He's 72 and ain't giving up yet but I know he will never be able to hunt again. But last year was the first year we both killed a big buck in the same year. This year November 10 we both killed a big buck on the same day. Thanks for the encouragement Jeremy. I know what's coming and I know I can't do anything about it but to continue to pray but you give me that confidence to keep going unfortunately after that day comes.

When he died, I didn't get any of his guns but I got his hatchet. I make a point of using it to break down deer when I'm skinning them. It always makes me think of him. Thanks for this one!!

My Dad was the finest Man I ever known. Taught me to love the outdoors. He was a man of the highest integrity and Christian values. In 1966 he brought an 8pt home that he had shot on thanksgiving day. That was a big deal back then because there weren't many deer around. He loved to hunt and fish but in later years was just as happy to sit and enjoy God's creation. This wasn't a "Grind" hunt--it was more like "Enjoy the Journey." Thxs PS way- go-to SandyⓂ👍

My dad just passed a few weeks ago and I've inherited his 336 .30-30. I already have it sighted in and will be taking it to the deer woods for the opener. Iron sights this season in honor of Dad.

Awesome video! I lost my Dad in 2011! Not a time that I’m hunting, that I do not thank the good Lord for allowing me to have a Dad that kept me outdoors! Seems like yesterday. Time does fly for sure.. keep up the good work.. And congratulations to your wife also…

I have an old Remington 1100 I inherited from my uncle who helped dad teach me the outdoors. I took it out this season one morning and blasted an ugly 5pt at 15 steps. I totally understand the bringing back memories while hunting with inherited guns

Thank you for this. I didn’t have my father show me how to hunt or fish, and I now have learned these things in hopes to one day teach my daughter. God willing she’ll keep these traditions going for generations to follow.

My dad is going to be 78 on 1/1/24. We hunt a lot together; he grazed a deer across the back this morning, and I went to help him look for it. I am sure the deer is fine. I have been very blessed to have a job that I know very well and allows me to work remotely. So, I can pretty much hunt when I want. The last few years we have hunted a lot. Luckily, I have enough sense to appreciate that while it is happening. I see so many people looking back with regrets. I don’t think I will have to deal with that.

Could not have enjoyed this more. I am JQA the fourth. My pawpaw (JQA II ) is still alive, but I asked for his 30-06 in his will. Well he gave it to me a few years ago and I wanted to kill a deer with it and ended up killing 3. Extremely memorable bc he had once killed 3 with the rifle and I heard that story a hundred times as a kid and I always wanted to be as good of a God fearing family man as well as hunter as he still is. I have also already made claims on my dad’s (JQA III) Belgium made browning 30-06 that has so many memories tied to it as well.
I know this is getting lengthy but I have watched all your deer videos from the beginning of the channel in between my fall and spring semester (saving the turkey videos for turkey season) and you have inspired me to break out my camera gear and give it another try as it just frustrated me the first time around years ago. Love this show, you are truly a kingdom man, God bless you and your family!

Congratulations Mrs. Sandy and you Jeremy. Man I know what memories the outdoors has brought with my grandfather father and my son and daughter. Yeah my dad never left home without me. He was a big quail hunter we had beagles for rabbit and did a lot of wing shooting dove and ducks. He didn’t like deer hunting at all. We lost him at 50 years old so I didn’t get near enough time with him. He gave me a Marlin 336 30-30 on my 11th birthday, brand new it the box. I know I’ve taken over 60 deer with it. On the 19th it will be 54 years old. My first with it he was probably more excited than I was lol. My son took his first with it when he was 6 and I know I was one excited dad. Memories I hope I’ll never lose. Hopefully my grandsons will take their first with it.

One of the best memories for me is me my dad and my son hunting together last season. At that time we did not know that he could have dead with a heart attack. After season was over he started feeling bad and he had a total of 8 blockages they treated all but four he had to have open heart surgery. We all three got to harvest a deer together.
Thank you for sharing enjoying your content.

Love it, I lost my Dad this January. He was a fantastic fly fisherman, he would go hunting with me but never wanted to shoot anything. Steelhead are almost in the rivers here in northern Michigan, I am preparing to take his fly gear out in honor of him. Never take time in the outdoors with a loved one for granted. Best of luck to all of you whatever season is open.

I never had a mentor growing up. Dad was distant and mother was off doing her thing. I have been hunting now for about 15 years. I'm 37 now but 15 years ago, I could never stop and slow down to take the beauty in of the outdoors. I had a son 7 years ago, and now he's a spitting image of me. He goes hunting with me every so often. I just hope I will be a good mentor for my son.... give him something I never had. Hopefully, he will slow down one day and soak it all in and love the pursue of the hunt.
I love watching your videos!!! It gets me motivated and you talk about real-life stuff and new ways to hunt Pressured deer. Please never stop showing us your hunts! Your a awsome Role model. I can tell that your kind and have a good heart. Thank you!!!

Great show. My dad passed in 2020. Left a model 94 Winchester 30:30. My daughter shot a buck with that gun at 135 yards with handloads that I worked up using Hornady FTX bullets and Winchester 748 powder. I was sitting beside her when she did it. Grandpa was smiling for sure,

67 here, old man used to pheasant hunt with us on the farm. In his 90's now, brothers don't deer hunt much anymore. Never had kids. Still hunt most every day of bow and gun season. They will probably find me in the woods when I croak.

I recently just got my great uncles .375 Winchester he started the love and passion for everyone in our family and I have tons of memories with him in the woods. I got to take a pig with it 2 weeks ago and can’t wait to get it in the deer woods soon!

Wow great story, thanks for sharing. Good advice. Back in 1969 I was hunting with my best friend and we ran up the Boeuf River about 45 minutes. I got in a big oak flat. There was 3” of water on the ground. I climbed an oak and sat on a 6” limb and got to rocking on a 2” inch limb behind my back. The limb snapped and I fell about 6 ‘ flat on my back in that cold water. My insulated jump suit sucked up bunch of water. I was soaked and cold 30 degrees, then came that boat ride in that aluminum flat. My teeth were chattering louder than the motor. Got back to the farm house and took two hot baths and sat in front of the heater an hour. I will never forget that cold boat ride. God bless you and keep you brother.

Brother I can't say thank you enough for this episode. I grew up hunting with my dad and my papa but my papa the most. I was sitting with him when I killed my first deer and have countless memories with him in the woods. He passed on 5 years ago and I've tried to bring myself to get out his old rifle and kill one but it's just been too painful. This has moved me and now I will be taking it for the rest of the year.
