Hello all, I'm still putting the research together for the worldwide National Parks disappearances video and the language barrier is pretty massive so it's taking me longer than I thought it would, but in the meantime I came across scientists who had gone missing under unusual circumstances and there are some pretty strange ones with odd reporting in here so do leave your thoughts. Hey Phil, don't you be worrying about me but thank you very much for kind words there. Perhaps after the pandemic I will think about opening one if people want to contribute to the research effort. I just don't feel too good about doing that right now given the current situation
And me, the voice is important, it has to be from my native country, the story usually mysterious, crime is good to, something like serial killers! (I suppose that’s because, I could have done wrong, but nothing on that level)
It is so easy to die out somewhere on your own. A slip, a trip a falling rock, a sprained ankle, dehydration, disorientation, exposure, a heart attack. Scary world!
@@whitedragoness23 Yes, if you are not alone someone can help you. Do CPR if necessary, prop you up bandage you up, give you water, keep you warm, go for help, signal to rescuers. But I can understand people wanting some alone time. There are relatively safe options for that though, retreat places where they have cabins in woods. But for some people safety is not the most important thing. Some feel a real need to be miles from any sign of human activity & remote from anyone.
Exactly it just takes getting off trail and you’re screwed. It’s weird that sometimes people search the areas and don’t find them but then there body turns up in the area, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just that no matter how thorough searchers are there are plenty of things that could conceal a body that could end up washing away or something
@@kraftwerkorange13 It can be surprisngly easy to get lost, even just by leaving the trail for a few minutes. If you need to leave the trail to take a bathroom break make a point of remembering features every few yards that will guide you back precisely. Remember that things can look very different coming to them from a different angle so look around & note landmarks.
@Cory Britton Actually it's "rigorous", denoting extremely thorough, exhaustive or accurate. "Vigorous" means strong or full of energy. At least you tried though.

To be fair it would be so much easier if David made the books easier to obtain. International postage is insane, it cost almost as much as the books. My local library refuses to buy them for the same reason so I've never been able to read them.

So they followed his footprints through the desert... and assumed that he sat down and the wind blew sand over his entire body? Doesnt sound sketchy until you think about how much dirt it would take the wind blowing to cover his body... and not his footprints... for 6miles..?
It's like people apparently getting sick with c0\/!d, then they're released from hospital after getting better and now testing negative. You can't have it both ways. They either never had it to test negative, or the negative claim, is another lie. What they're claiming to be fact, is NOT how these things work. Plus if that was how the virus worked, then a vaccine wouldn't give long term protection. Somebody is lying.
@@gazepskotzs4 excuse me tosser. I have autoimmune issues for over 30 years, which is why I'm aware of certain things here. Not only that, but due to my own research from the early 90s, I actually predicted a pandemic, just 10 days before Wuhan hit the media. You don't even know the half of what's going on.
As a response to the defecting at least. I've read many stories from north korean about soldiers or pilots wanting to secretly defect but because of the strict totalitarian regime over them, they make no "plans" to leave that include their family or personal belongings. The one I can think of was a north korean pilot who broke formation and defected towards a border state. He was later interviewed by a south korean media outlet and he's said he'd wanted to leave for years but he knew it was impossible to get out without being noticed with his family and belongings. He then said on a standard flying and formation run, he decided that defecting at that moment was the only chance that he was going to get. Obviously these aren't directly connected in anyway. But it is an interesting addition to why he would have continued the research with the government and university, if he was active and was also planning on defecting, the government would think some what the same as you and I'm sure many others in that because he had on going research with them therefore he wasn't planning on defecting. However, it could be to the contrary, he continued his studies so that he'd have less eyes on him over time. The longer hes there for and more dedicated to the regime he seems, the government will trust him and giv him a longer leash with more money. And over time he may have used that to his advantage. Just a thought.
Gotta say, I love the ever evolving graphics and editing skills displayed in your videos. As someone who has dabbled in it for the past 20 years I can appreciate the time and effort you put into your work. And of course, the content was excellent as per usual. Keep up the good work!
Cheers Brad, there's definitely a really difficult balance to be struck between making the videos look and feel "quality" while trying to preserve time. It's very challenging as a one man team but I think it's going in the right direction
@@MissingVoidTV i know having worked hard on several scientific research papers and projects I've done personally in the field of my Scientific Degree of Psychology. I absolutely respect and know through my own personal experience of all the hard work that this entails if done properly as it certainly takes much tedious work, as well as all of the time and effort that you must go into doing this. I know the topic that you research is out there but I Feel that some don't give you credit for that as I know exactly what type of work as well as all that one has to put into doing such a great job covering such research as it takes a lot of time and effort to put everything together in such an orderly and comprehensive manner. I have a lot of admiration towards the thorough job you do in covering all of these stories! You do an amazing job through your narrations of this information.

If Natalie suffered from frequent nosebleeds, then there is a strong chance she may have had an aneurysm or other neurological condition in the frontal area of her brain but she should certainly have been seen by a doctor or nuerologist. It might be worth looking into her medical history.
Hi, I think in the case of the female runner (Natalie), could she have been running and just decided to sit down to rest and take in the views only for the rock she sat on to break away from the cliff and fall. After she landed at the bottom, other rocks that had been loosened by the fall of the 1st rock could have fallen down on top of Natalie thus crushing her before she had chance to either gain consciousness or get out of the way.
I just don’t understand how someone could die from a 13 ft cliff tho either , I know it really depends on how she was on it and how she fell like if she went right into her head or if rocks fell onto her but that honestly is not that high up, at all That could absolutely be do able without equipment for most situations I would think but I don’t know about for hers. Rest in Peace everyone that has been gone for a long time and may have died. And I hope those that are not gone are somehow safe and comfortable. I want to add that 28:00 there's only so much information that will be possible to uncover to draw conclusions from when research is being done through a computer. The situation surrounding Peng and with so many others is just something that can only be further exposed by on the ground investigation which by the way your deep dive ability simply without leaving your 'command center' is incredible. The amount of information and data you provide without I'm assuming traveling to China and interviewing 1st hand sources is again incredible great work as always.
In the case of Natalie I have an idea, it could have very well been a freak accident. She had enough outdoor experience, that those who knew her stated she wouldn't climb without proper equipment. In my hometown there is a backroad surrounded on either side by rocky cliffs. There are signs about 1/2 mile back warning of possible falling rocks, especially after rain. What if as she was running by some rocks fell down, causing her to instinctively step back, possibly slip and loose her footing (assuming the terrain was as rocky as described its easy to slip on loose gravel). A good hit on the head can easily kill a person, especially if it's a decent sized rock, falling on an equally hard surface doesn't make matters better either. There are many cases of people living their every day lives suddenly being killed in a freak accident. I'm not say it happened like that, but its definitely a possibility.
@Shifu Sage and he said numerous people search that exact area several times I guess and her body was not there. It sounds so much like a 411 because people all over the world say they've been searching an area dog search please search different people different groups basically search with a fine-tooth comb. I've seen them where they've been 6 foot apart in a straight line 4 days different groups doing the same thing in the same area have dogs and they never pick up a scent and then when they go back over it they a month 3 month whatever down the road boom there's a body right there. Explain that because the body was definitely not there when they were reported missing.
@@brendabautista9683 Yep, and stories where someone says they had to climb their way out of an area, despite not knowing why they were at the bottom. Like they magically clipped into a ravine, and could only get out that way. And somehow phone doesn't work.
Well, if you interested, I can tell a bit more about the missing of Peng Jia Mu. Lop Nur is a much bizarre place than you might think. It is always a place involves missing people, unexplainable phenomenon. In 1950s, a group of tomb raiders toke back some strange artifacts. Strangely, many of these people went mad soon after they get back. Some of them zombified start attack citizens, some of them running to die, I mean, some of them got their entire foot wear out but still keep running. Further study found out that these tomb raiders have some unknown fungi in their stomach. Local governor realized huge potential of weaponize these planter. They setup a scientific research team. Peng Jiamu was leader of this team. You know, Peng is a biochemist scientist. Luo Nur is basically desert. Why local government send biochemist to a place where plants do not even exist? Because these planters. As far as I know, Peng visited Luo Nuro at least two times. The first research findings is far beyond their imagination. What I heard is that, followed trace of these tomb raiders, they found an ancient site, with a lot of machines they have never seen. Of all these machines, the most bizzar machine was a jade they call “double fish jade”. It got this name because while scientist experiment on this machine, it literally cloned a fish into two. In later research, the team poisoned one fish to death, the cloned fish died the same way... 10 hour later. After Peng’s return, they immediately start to setup team for a bigger excavation team. Unfortunately, 10 year Chinese cultural revolution broke out before Peng was able to take the second visit to Luo Nur. At that time, Peng was already diagnosed cancer. To unveil the mystery of that ancient site, I believe, is Peng’s biggest wish. You know his last sentence “ I go east for water” is actually “ I go east for water well.” Why? Because the water well is a important landmark they used to find the ancient site.
Before the Peng’s missing, the weather got really bad as if someone trying to stop the team exploring. There was huge debate weather to proceed. Peng was very sure the site is nearby. That is why he only toke limited supply and went out to seek the site alone.
There is an american, Donald Marshall, who say the powers that be can create a clone and kill it for pleasure. This causes harm to the original and can even kill the original. Vile,vicious, things are done to the clones. Second, have you ever heard of the european ‘orphan trains’? Ppl speculate that children were moved all over the world in the 1800’s. This is actually provable. No one talks about where these ‘children’ come from. The first batch sent out, 99% were worked to death or died. The jade fish thingy is FASCINATING!!!!
I was so excited to see a video of this length uploaded! I wasn't able to watch immediately, but did so as soon as I had the opportunity. I was not disappointed in any way! As usual, articulate, well put together and thorough. What I have come to rely on from Top Mysteries content. Loved the topic, as well. Such fascinating potential insight into the missing phenomenon. Honestly, whether they are or are not related to the same type of disappearances covered by Paulides, these disappearances have a definite an air of strangeness about them. They're all deeply intriguing. Especially with the media involvement in the 1st & last cases. Does tend to make a person wonder. Thanks so much for the consistently brilliant content, Top Mysteries! David Paulides is a great recommendation. I did the same during the pandemic and appreciate the personal serious & fact-based delivery of his stories of those missing. His background history gives him creds like no other. The family of those missing are fortunate to have him advocating since the national parks do NOT investigate adult cases that go missing then found dead. The numbers of those who go missing in our parks is astounding.
Today on his You Tube channel, David Paullides addressed the fact that the news only accurate about 50% of the time when it comes to reporting on these disapperances. So I commend you for trying to piece these together. In your last case, I wonder how many tourists go to that area, especially rich European and American tourists. The reason for asking is, if this area is flooded with tourists then having a news story about one of those tourists would be bad for business. However, lying about finding his body would mean the story could be controlled and those who want to control it could blame his death on inexperience, bad equipment, etc. Having him vanish would mean news stories rehashing his disapperance popping up every so often and possibly ruining the tourism.
I do believe he fell, was left there by himself as his companions went for more equipment. Then he woke up, found himself alone and absolutely no idea if he was left for dead or in a surreal situation. The other body could of been from a previous loner who past away but didn’t notify others of where he was going Or the news got their info wrong. But yes I realized how badly the news can be when it comes to reporting. A few times I would hear breaking news then they all repeat the same wrong information prematurely. Then they back track cause they completely reported it wrong just so they could be the first to report something Other times they accuse innocences of wrong doing then it’s realized the person is innocent and they erase all the accountability they have
Regarding Nathalie being down the ravine, scent hound’s can’t follow a scent easily on rock as it is less likely to “hold” the scent trail and if she has fallen down the ravine they won’t pick up her scent unless the wind is somehow blowing her scent upwards to the top of the ravine.
That culture in China of hating the embarrassment to the point of making things worse by covering it up, and then being angry at the messenger, is exactly why the doctor who warned other doctors about corona virus having pandemic potential as it started spreading within China, even just in their shared group chat, was arrested by the CCP... You did a good job of explaining the cultural reasoning behind it even though it was just a passing detail in the first case. Thanks!
The story is often mis-reported. He was not arrested by the CPC, but reprimanded by local police. It wasn't because he was whistle blowing, but because protected health information was being shared. He understood this and told the people he was sharing the info with not to share widely. The CPC apologized for the arrest, said it was a mistake, and he is not viewed as a hero throughout China. You often see more accountability for mistakes in China than you do in Western countries. Think about how many politicians and pundits who supported the disastrous war in Iraq from both parties are still prominent.
Without even watching the video two cases of retired academics / scientists disappearing into thin air on walks:- * Walter Springer Lawton (a retired mathematics professor) from Pennsylvania in 1971. Dogs tracked his scent to a railway bridge (I don't know if this was over a river) * John E. Warren (a retired engineering professor with a previous role in the defence industry) from New Jersey in 1983
@@MissingVoidTV another scientist who disappeared was Soviet nuclear physicist Vladimir Alexandrov in Madrid in 1985. It's a fascinating case. Was he murdered? Did he defect? No-one knows. But in no way does it fit the definition of a 411 case.
@Journeystomake Alkebulan mmm... I don't know. I read up a bit about the Chinese scientist's disappearance. There's more to it than the video covers. The expedition was apparently running out of supplies, so Peng's looking for water was urgent & may suggest why he walked so far. There were also suggestions of suicide (he may've had cancer) or foul play (coming to blows with fellow scientists over dwindling supplies) but nothing was confirmed. However, his colleagues weren't surprised by his disappearance. I think the harsh environment can easily explain his demise. Not sure about the others. I sometimes think people can make more mystery out of a disappearance than is necessary. From what I've read the most mysterious disappearances tend not to be the ones most people haven't heard of. Walter Springer Lawton may've fallen into a river (the dogs traced his scent to a spot on a bridge, but without trying to find the spot on Google Maps I don't know if that' the case). John E Warren's disappearance is very odd. Some suspected he ran off to another life, but nothing suggests he did that. Others suggest he had a heart attack & his body just wasn't found (but I think that is unlikely considering the terrain didn't seem particularly rugged). If he was abducted whether his former defence work had any connection to it is unknown. Vladimir Alexandrov could've defected to the Americans, been vanished by the KGB (they might've felt he was too compromised by his close work with the Americans or knew his work on nuclear winter was bunk), or even had a drunk altercation with his Cuban minders. P. S. I Googled bridges at Mountain Top, Pennsylvania & found one which matched the description given in the Charley Project's entry for Walter Springer Lawtom's disappearance. There doesn't seem to be a river running underneath it. It might not be the bridge though. His daughter spent years looking for him in institutions, etc. but never found him
While they surely know their fields (I hope so) scientists sometimes are extremely foolish outside of their topic of research. If you work with them outside of their specific field you will notice. So I wouldn't put that much into this compared to "normal" people disappearing except somebody snatched them for their knowledge in their specific field.

When park officials say "looks like fatal climbing injuries" and investigators say "cause of death unknown" this means that the park officials are likely just exhibiting confirmation bias toward the thing the most often see: death by park related injuries, while investigators could not determine conclusively that the injuries sustained were related to the death, or possibly could not determine conclusively that they were not post mortem artifacts. Basically, investigators actually have the ability to determine a cause of death, while non-investigators have the ability to navel-gaze and pontificate... or to put it another way, unless the coroner says it, its a guess, and nothing more.
I think that he left China. I think that someone picked him up, and that it was preplanned. He was too smart to have gone searching for water by himself in a hot desert. He would have known, given the conditions, that he would have, likely, not survived such a search. This was a perfect place to go missing, where people searching for him, would have quickly given up in the search. Therefore, I doubt that he would have, deliberately, put himself through such suffering. If he wanted to die, he could have done THAT to himself, without having to endure suffering in the process. It is very likely, that someone DID recognize him, some time later, in a different country. He, probably, had information to sell for a safe relocation and a new identity.
Y’all never heard the term “it’s a small world” very likely ping made it to the US and someone did recognize him in Washington I mean after all what was pings friends doing there anyway??

I would suspect a stray dog. I was running for a little bit, and dogs were a constant threat, they simply cannot let something run pass them without giving a chase, it's an instinct. My guess is, that she was running and a stray dog gave a chase after her, barking, growling and snarling like a beast from bottoms of hell. She panicked and run out of a cliff trying to avoid the furry torpedo. It might not be even be a stray dog at all, someone took "Buddy" for a walk without a leash and didn't pay attention to what the hell their dog was doing (I've seen plenty of that). They found Buddy barking at an edge of a cliff, called him back and pat it on the head not giving the whole situation a second thought.
Concerning the runner case, I feel someone or something may have been chasing her and she was trying to get away. Someone intelligent as her and a professional runner would know you would need climbing gear to scale rocks.
I gotta go check the latter, no better time for longer vids than now (or embracing a hammock in my living room, boredom doesnt agree with me..). If there are so many contradicting reports, I guess only the family members can verify and confirm if the bodies were found or not, and the causes of death... It will be great if some journalist could get in touch with the families so that we can know the truths..
Lord knows we don't have many journalists left.. certainly none in our media. I find myself wanting to reach out to some of the families as well to hear them out. If rich, powerful people want you gone, you will be, and there will be no resolution.
Speaking as someone that will attempt things on impulse, sometimes I just get mildly curious and climb places I probably shouldn't. I fell 10 feet from a cliff once that I had no business attempting to climb, but I just saw it and wanted to climb it. Sometimes humans are dumb.
This channel is what happens when the concept of “wilderness” is so unimaginable that the very real dangers seem supernatural. We have a park in Chicago, in which two hiker were lost and unable to navigate out for 4hrs as night fell. That is within a major urban area. It takes so little to disappear forever. Most can’t even conceive of the size of the landscape because visualizing it would terrify them. Rescuers can’t possibly cover any area 100%. Animals can tear apart a carcass in one week with virtually no visual evidence other than scattered clothes, impossible to pick out of the underbrush. Even if the objects are discovered, they are never connected to a person. Many go into the wilderness to commit suicide anonymously. The wilderness can confuse and kill the most experienced hikers and sadly, most enter ill-equipped, overconfident and careless. Statistically, every person who has entered the wilderness has experienced disorientation at least once. Exposure kills you so slowly that you’re half dead before you realize you’re even in danger. It’s amazing to me that more people don’t disappear without a trace.
That’s the problem people don’t want to accept accidents happen. I’m not sure about people willingly wandering into the wilderness for self harm but I think a majority of the cases is because people go off trail
Paulides talks about 3 different types of people that go missing: the elderly, the mentally handicapped, and academics. If you've ever had to work in the "field", intellectual type of people usually have a hard time adjusting to physically demanding environments, So really it's not that strange. The wilderness is no place to act over confident.
Your videos are great. They get better when things get bizarre. There’s a lot of weird, creepy stuff happening on Earth that we humans may never fully understand. Anyway, I’ll keep watching if you keep providing content to watch.

@32:30 Whatever made her climb that cliff is most likely the same thing that made Trenny Gibson walk off the Clingmans Dome trail in 1976 and Jaryd Atadero go up a larger cliff in 1999.
The Trenny Gibson, Stacey Arras and Dennis Martin cases are probably the top 3 that still freak me out the most. To think people so young can completely vanish in a matter of seconds in close proximity to others and absolutely no trace is found of them over 45+ years later is mind-boggling.
Thought the same thing. Everyone is always so baffled as to why these people are found vast distances from where they went missing, and up cliffs or mountainsides, or else wedged into rock ledges or under hollow logs. No one ever seems to consider that perhaps they were running for their lives and trying to hide.
@@macioluko9484 Yes but in these cases there's almost always torrential rains shortly after they vanish, which washes away most of the trails... Also just because the dogs don't track, doesn't mean they don't have a trail. If a large predator was chasing these people, it's scent would be overtop of theirs. Maybe the dogs are too scared to follow it?
D.Paulides talked about a small group of these missing scientists being of German Ancestry which relates to his book about young college men going missing who have German Ancestry
Radagast Brown he provides the facts as he knows them, and then allows the readers to make their own decisions and thoughts on what may be happening. He doesn’t spoon feed you. That’s the point. He wants people to think. He’s explained this on every occasion. He’s made it clear that even he doesn’t know what could be going on here, despite him studying the facts of each case for years. It’s not one singular thing. This has to be several anomalies happening there with very similar circumstances.

I am fascinated by such cases. I’ve always been sceptical about things... but after hearing about so many of these similar things happening. I am now a firm believer. I don’t know what I believe in yet. But sometimes when there are no logical answers and reasons.... You have to wonder 🤷🏻♀️
I have the same concern. I like to hike and camp alone. I know logically that the odds make it unlikely, I still can't shake that feeling. I also feel though that every time I do it, that increases the odds.
Like most forests Ranger's carry a GPS transponder and or a satellite phone there around $100 . So ask yourself is my life worth more than 100 clams ? If not , well put the money in your pocket and pay off the Bigfoot when you're out there. 😜😜👽👽🛸✌

Let me first say this is a great video and done very well. I have to say I've noticed this trend in TH-cam of saying things like "cause of passing" instead of "cause of death" or to use the term "passing" or "pass away" in unusual and inappropriate places. The term "pass away" or "passing" is a polite and euphemistic way to talk about death when coping with grief from the loss of a family member, friend, or when helping someone cope with grief who has lost a family member or friend. It's very strange to use that term while giving specific details of a crime or mysterious death of someone you don't know. It is also very strange to use that term when talking about a violent death. When using these terms in these contexts they come off as jarring, flippant and even comical. I understand that that is not the intention, but it is true. It also hurts the credibility of the video when the video is supposed to be giving precise facts. "Cause of passing" is not an actual term but a strange hybridization of a clinical term and a euphemistic one. This has a very strange effect. I would urge anyone who is making videos like this to avoid using terms like "pass away" or "passing" when referring to deaths that are being discussed from a facts-based point of view.
what ive learned reading about these things in the last 30 yrs is that, there are things that appear to people, some have seen things appear from nowhere and are able to make contact with the persons, now what ever it is is not from here, it comes pick up people of all ages then dissapears. There are things out there that we cant see, but they are there, i believe several ways people are being taken. you wont find them..
i had a friend who simply sat on a rock ledge that surely many have sat on before, because it wasn't far from a public road, and because while on the ledge the beautiful panorama of entire nearby mountainous region could be seen. But, on the day my friend sat on the ledge it suddenly collapsed and he fell several 100 feet to his immediate demise.
Oh Jesus! Sorry for your loss, for sure! I hope he didn't suffer and died upon impact.. imagine not dying and being stuck at the bottom of a ravine with no chance of rescue for a considerable amount of time?

I think Natalie Christopher accidentally slipped and fell into the ravine, while running on the slippery, rain-damaged trail. I think she survived her initial fall, but her cell phone didn't work because she was in a ravine, so she attempted to climb back up by herself. Sadly, a large rock, being loosened by the recent rain, gave way when she gripped it, and she plunged back down the cliff, with the large rock landing on top of her, killing her. Her cell phone's battery eventually ran out. Searchers didn't see her at first, due to the tree and the rock obscuring her body. Very sad.

Re Natalie: firstly, a 13ft cliff, or even a 20ft one, isn't particularly intimidating to somebody who's fit and experienced in outdoor activities. Maybe she dropped something into the ravine (her phone?) and thought it would be easy enough to climb down and retrieve it, without realising the rocks were unstable. If I were in that situation, I'd certainly at least consider climbing down. Secondly, if rocks were lying on top of her body, that would make it even more difficult to see her. And lastly, just because somebody's found under a pile of rocks at the bottom of a ravine, doesn't automatically mean that it was the fall that killed them, hence the "cause: unclear" reports. It wouldn't have been at all obvious to investigators whether she'd been killedby the fall and/or the rocks, or whether she'd been killed in some other way and then dumped there to make it look like an accident.
The first one reminds me of a case where a scientist dissappeared from a research station on Antarctica. They only found his footprints in the snow which abrubtly stopped in the middle of nowhere.

Dr Christopher .. If she was out for a run, did maybe some rocks come loose and fall on her? Lots of rain u said so it's possible. Rock slides are a hazard. And if she was going slow maybe she was unable to move fast enough or just unaware of the rocks when they fell off. That would make more sense I think than her trying to climb without equipment

Notice how in a lot of these cases the victims seemed to be mind-controlled. If you read Steph Young’s book The Smiley Faced Killers you’ll see there’s a pattern of people going places they wouldn’t go and acting completely out of character. Look at Henry McCabe. What the hell was he doing out there?
A decent number of young men have been going missing in my area. They later turn up in the river but it’s debated how it happens. I guess it could be a mental illness thing or drinking but I really don’t know... Edit: just look at Dakota James, his family doesn’t even believe the “official story” bc it makes no sense
Something awful happened to the woman that died on Cyprus. I don't know why exactly, but my gut instinct with this case is that she didn't end up where and how she did, because she randomly decided to abandon her run, and climb without any prior experience or gear. There's just not enough evidence, or information shared with the public, at least, to make any possible cause stand apart from the rest.
If she climbed up to get away from an animal then when she fell down it would have nibbled at her. An animal not finding a way down to eat her is likely, as is someone chasing her above or below then abandoning after seeing her fall.

It is so easy to die out somewhere on your own. A slip, a trip a falling rock, a sprained ankle, dehydration, disorientation, exposure, a heart attack. Scary world!

@@whitedragoness23 Yes, if you are not alone someone can help you. Do CPR if necessary, prop you up bandage you up, give you water, keep you warm, go for help, signal to rescuers. But I can understand people wanting some alone time.
There are relatively safe options for that though, retreat places where they have cabins in woods. But for some people safety is not the most important thing. Some feel a real need to be miles from any sign of human activity & remote from anyone.
Exactly it just takes getting off trail and you’re screwed. It’s weird that sometimes people search the areas and don’t find them but then there body turns up in the area, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just that no matter how thorough searchers are there are plenty of things that could conceal a body that could end up washing away or something
@@kraftwerkorange13 It can be surprisngly easy to get lost, even just by leaving the trail for a few minutes. If you need to leave the trail to take a bathroom break make a point of remembering features every few yards that will guide you back precisely. Remember that things can look very different coming to them from a different angle so look around & note landmarks.

As a response to the defecting at least. I've read many stories from north korean about soldiers or pilots wanting to secretly defect but because of the strict totalitarian regime over them, they make no "plans" to leave that include their family or personal belongings. The one I can think of was a north korean pilot who broke formation and defected towards a border state. He was later interviewed by a south korean media outlet and he's said he'd wanted to leave for years but he knew it was impossible to get out without being noticed with his family and belongings. He then said on a standard flying and formation run, he decided that defecting at that moment was the only chance that he was going to get. Obviously these aren't directly connected in anyway. But it is an interesting addition to why he would have continued the research with the government and university, if he was active and was also planning on defecting, the government would think some what the same as you and I'm sure many others in that because he had on going research with them therefore he wasn't planning on defecting. However, it could be to the contrary, he continued his studies so that he'd have less eyes on him over time. The longer hes there for and more dedicated to the regime he seems, the government will trust him and giv him a longer leash with more money. And over time he may have used that to his advantage. Just a thought.

I absolutely respect and know through my own personal experience of all the hard work that this entails if done properly as it certainly takes much tedious work, as well as all of the time and effort that you must go into doing this. I know the topic that you research is out there but I Feel that some don't give you credit for that as I know exactly what type of work as well as all that one has to put into doing such a great job covering such research as it takes a lot of time and effort to put everything together in such an orderly and comprehensive manner. Hi, I think in the case of the female runner (Natalie), could she have been running and just decided to sit down to rest and take in the views only for the rock she sat on to break away from the cliff and fall. After she landed at the bottom, other rocks that had been loosened by the fall of the 1st rock could have fallen down on top of Natalie thus crushing her before she had chance to either gain consciousness or get out of the way.
Good point, I wonder if there was a known running trail nearby she was on or if she was running off the beaten path.

Rest in Peace everyone that has been gone for a long time and may have died. And I hope those that are not gone are somehow safe and comfortable. I want to add that 28:00 there's only so much information that will be possible to uncover to draw conclusions from when research is being done through a computer. The situation surrounding Peng and with so many others is just something that can only be further exposed by on the ground investigation which by the way your deep dive ability simply without leaving your 'command center' is incredible. The amount of information and data you provide without I'm assuming traveling to China and interviewing 1st hand sources is again incredible great work as always.
In the case of Natalie I have an idea, it could have very well been a freak accident. She had enough outdoor experience, that those who knew her stated she wouldn't climb without proper equipment. In my hometown there is a backroad surrounded on either side by rocky cliffs. There are signs about 1/2 mile back warning of possible falling rocks, especially after rain. What if as she was running by some rocks fell down, causing her to instinctively step back, possibly slip and loose her footing (assuming the terrain was as rocky as described its easy to slip on loose gravel). A good hit on the head can easily kill a person, especially if it's a decent sized rock, falling on an equally hard surface doesn't make matters better either. There are many cases of people living their every day lives suddenly being killed in a freak accident. I'm not say it happened like that, but its definitely a possibility.

It sounds so much like a 411 because people all over the world say they've been searching an area dog search please search different people different groups basically search with a fine-tooth comb. I've seen them where they've been 6 foot apart in a straight line 4 days different groups doing the same thing in the same area have dogs and they never pick up a scent and then when they go back over it they a month 3 month whatever down the road boom there's a body right there. Explain that because the body was definitely not there when they were reported missing.

Well, if you interested, I can tell a bit more about the missing of Peng Jia Mu. Lop Nur is a much bizarre place than you might think. It is always a place involves missing people, unexplainable phenomenon. In 1950s, a group of tomb raiders toke back some strange artifacts. Strangely, many of these people went mad soon after they get back. Some of them zombified start attack citizens, some of them running to die, I mean, some of them got their entire foot wear out but still keep running. Further study found out that these tomb raiders have some unknown fungi in their stomach. Local governor realized huge potential of weaponize these planter. They setup a scientific research team. Peng Jiamu was leader of this team. You know, Peng is a biochemist scientist. Luo Nur is basically desert. Why local government send biochemist to a place where plants do not even exist? Because these planters. As far as I know, Peng visited Luo Nuro at least two times. The first research findings is far beyond their imagination. What I heard is that, followed trace of these tomb raiders, they found an ancient site, with a lot of machines they have never seen. Of all these machines, the most bizzar machine was a jade they call “double fish jade”. It got this name because while scientist experiment on this machine, it literally cloned a fish into two. In later research, the team poisoned one fish to death, the cloned fish died the same way... 10 hour later. After Peng’s return, they immediately start to setup team for a bigger excavation team. Unfortunately, 10 year Chinese cultural revolution broke out before Peng was able to take the second visit to Luo Nur. At that time, Peng was already diagnosed cancer. To unveil the mystery of that ancient site, I believe, is Peng’s biggest wish. You know his last sentence “ I go east for water” is actually “ I go east for water well.” Why? Because the water well is a important landmark they used to find the ancient site.
Before the Peng’s missing, the weather got really bad as if someone trying to stop the team exploring. There was huge debate weather to proceed. Peng was very sure the site is nearby. That is why he only toke limited supply and went out to seek the site alone.

David Paulides is a great recommendation. I did the same during the pandemic and appreciate the personal serious & fact-based delivery of his stories of those missing. His background history gives him creds like no other. The family of those missing are fortunate to have him advocating since the national parks do NOT investigate adult cases that go missing then found dead. The numbers of those who go missing in our parks is astounding.

Today on his You Tube channel, David Paullides addressed the fact that the news only accurate about 50% of the time when it comes to reporting on these disapperances. So I commend you for trying to piece these together. In your last case, I wonder how many tourists go to that area, especially rich European and American tourists. The reason for asking is, if this area is flooded with tourists then having a news story about one of those tourists would be bad for business. However, lying about finding his body would mean the story could be controlled and those who want to control it could blame his death on inexperience, bad equipment, etc. Having him vanish would mean news stories rehashing his disapperance popping up every so often and possibly ruining the tourism.
I do believe he fell, was left there by himself as his companions went for more equipment. Then he woke up, found himself alone and absolutely no idea if he was left for dead or in a surreal situation.
The other body could of been from a previous loner who past away but didn’t notify others of where he was going
Or the news got their info wrong. But yes I realized how badly the news can be when it comes to reporting. A few times I would hear breaking news then they all repeat the same wrong information prematurely.
Then they back track cause they completely reported it wrong just so they could be the first to report something
Other times they accuse innocences of wrong doing then it’s realized the person is innocent and they erase all the accountability they have

Regarding Nathalie being down the ravine, scent hound’s can’t follow a scent easily on rock as it is less likely to “hold” the scent trail and if she has fallen down the ravine they won’t pick up her scent unless the wind is somehow blowing her scent upwards to the top of the ravine.

You did a good job of explaining the cultural reasoning behind it even though it was just a passing detail in the first case. Thanks!
The story is often mis-reported. He was not arrested by the CPC, but reprimanded by local police. It wasn't because he was whistle blowing, but because protected health information was being shared. He understood this and told the people he was sharing the info with not to share widely. The CPC apologized for the arrest, said it was a mistake, and he is not viewed as a hero throughout China. You often see more accountability for mistakes in China than you do in Western countries. Think about how many politicians and pundits who supported the disastrous war in Iraq from both parties are still prominent.

@@MissingVoidTV another scientist who disappeared was Soviet nuclear physicist Vladimir Alexandrov in Madrid in 1985. It's a fascinating case. Was he murdered? Did he defect? No-one knows. But in no way does it fit the definition of a 411 case.
@Journeystomake Alkebulan mmm... I don't know. I read up a bit about the Chinese scientist's disappearance. There's more to it than the video covers. The expedition was apparently running out of supplies, so Peng's looking for water was urgent & may suggest why he walked so far. There were also suggestions of suicide (he may've had cancer) or foul play (coming to blows with fellow scientists over dwindling supplies) but nothing was confirmed. However, his colleagues weren't surprised by his disappearance. I think the harsh environment can easily explain his demise. Not sure about the others. I sometimes think people can make more mystery out of a disappearance than is necessary. From what I've read the most mysterious disappearances tend not to be the ones most people haven't heard of.
Walter Springer Lawton may've fallen into a river (the dogs traced his scent to a spot on a bridge, but without trying to find the spot on Google Maps I don't know if that' the case).
John E Warren's disappearance is very odd. Some suspected he ran off to another life, but nothing suggests he did that. Others suggest he had a heart attack & his body just wasn't found (but I think that is unlikely considering the terrain didn't seem particularly rugged). If he was abducted whether his former defence work had any connection to it is unknown.
Vladimir Alexandrov could've defected to the Americans, been vanished by the KGB (they might've felt he was too compromised by his close work with the Americans or knew his work on nuclear winter was bunk), or even had a drunk altercation with his Cuban minders.
P. S. I Googled bridges at Mountain Top, Pennsylvania & found one which matched the description given in the Charley Project's entry for Walter Springer Lawtom's disappearance. There doesn't seem to be a river running underneath it. It might not be the bridge though. His daughter spent years looking for him in institutions, etc. but never found him
While they surely know their fields (I hope so) scientists sometimes are extremely foolish outside of their topic of research. If you work with them outside of their specific field you will notice. So I wouldn't put that much into this compared to "normal" people disappearing except somebody snatched them for their knowledge in their specific field.

When park officials say "looks like fatal climbing injuries" and investigators say "cause of death unknown" this means that the park officials are likely just exhibiting confirmation bias toward the thing the most often see: death by park related injuries, while investigators could not determine conclusively that the injuries sustained were related to the death, or possibly could not determine conclusively that they were not post mortem artifacts.
Basically, investigators actually have the ability to determine a cause of death, while non-investigators have the ability to navel-gaze and pontificate... or to put it another way, unless the coroner says it, its a guess, and nothing more.
I think that he left China. I think that someone picked him up, and that it was preplanned. He was too smart to have gone searching for water by himself in a hot desert. He would have known, given the conditions, that he would have, likely, not survived such a search. This was a perfect place to go missing, where people searching for him, would have quickly given up in the search. Therefore, I doubt that he would have, deliberately, put himself through such suffering. If he wanted to die, he could have done THAT to himself, without having to endure suffering in the process. It is very likely, that someone DID recognize him, some time later, in a different country. He, probably, had information to sell for a safe relocation and a new identity.
That would also make sense that he was seen in Washington (DC I'm assuming)

Concerning Natalie, if she was pushed, or grabbed and thrown, evidence for this would be very hard to find.
I would suspect a stray dog. I was running for a little bit, and dogs were a constant threat, they simply cannot let something run pass them without giving a chase, it's an instinct.
My guess is, that she was running and a stray dog gave a chase after her, barking, growling and snarling like a beast from bottoms of hell. She panicked and run out of a cliff trying to avoid the furry torpedo. It might not be even be a stray dog at all, someone took "Buddy" for a walk without a leash and didn't pay attention to what the hell their dog was doing (I've seen plenty of that). They found Buddy barking at an edge of a cliff, called him back and pat it on the head not giving the whole situation a second thought.

Concerning the runner case, I feel someone or something may have been chasing her and she was trying to get away. Someone intelligent as her and a professional runner would know you would need climbing gear to scale rocks.

If there are so many contradicting reports, I guess only the family members can verify and confirm if the bodies were found or not, and the causes of death... It will be great if some journalist could get in touch with the families so that we can know the truths..
Lord knows we don't have many journalists left.. certainly none in our media. I find myself wanting to reach out to some of the families as well to hear them out. If rich, powerful people want you gone, you will be, and there will be no resolution.
Speaking as someone that will attempt things on impulse, sometimes I just get mildly curious and climb places I probably shouldn't. I fell 10 feet from a cliff once that I had no business attempting to climb, but I just saw it and wanted to climb it. Sometimes humans are dumb.
This channel is what happens when the concept of “wilderness” is so unimaginable that the very real dangers seem supernatural. We have a park in Chicago, in which two hiker were lost and unable to navigate out for 4hrs as night fell. That is within a major urban area. It takes so little to disappear forever. Most can’t even conceive of the size of the landscape because visualizing it would terrify them. Rescuers can’t possibly cover any area 100%. Animals can tear apart a carcass in one week with virtually no visual evidence other than scattered clothes, impossible to pick out of the underbrush. Even if the objects are discovered, they are never connected to a person. Many go into the wilderness to commit suicide anonymously. The wilderness can confuse and kill the most experienced hikers and sadly, most enter ill-equipped, overconfident and careless. Statistically, every person who has entered the wilderness has experienced disorientation at least once. Exposure kills you so slowly that you’re half dead before you realize you’re even in danger. It’s amazing to me that more people don’t disappear without a trace.
The very real dangers are SUPERNATURAL
That’s the problem people don’t want to accept accidents happen. I’m not sure about people willingly wandering into the wilderness for self harm but I think a majority of the cases is because people go off trail
Paulides talks about 3 different types of people that go missing: the elderly, the mentally handicapped, and academics.
If you've ever had to work in the "field", intellectual type of people usually have a hard time adjusting to physically demanding environments, So really it's not that strange. The wilderness is no place to act over confident.

The Trenny Gibson, Stacey Arras and Dennis Martin cases are probably the top 3 that still freak me out the most. To think people so young can completely vanish in a matter of seconds in close proximity to others and absolutely no trace is found of them over 45+ years later is mind-boggling.

Everyone is always so baffled as to why these people are found vast distances from where they went missing, and up cliffs or mountainsides, or else wedged into rock ledges or under hollow logs.
No one ever seems to consider that perhaps they were running for their lives and trying to hide.

Also just because the dogs don't track, doesn't mean they don't have a trail. If a large predator was chasing these people, it's scent would be overtop of theirs. Maybe the dogs are too scared to follow it?

He wants people to think. He’s explained this on every occasion. He’s made it clear that even he doesn’t know what could be going on here, despite him studying the facts of each case for years. It’s not one singular thing. This has to be several anomalies happening there with very similar circumstances.

Let me first say this is a great video and done very well. I have to say I've noticed this trend in TH-cam of saying things like "cause of passing" instead of "cause of death" or to use the term "passing" or "pass away" in unusual and inappropriate places. The term "pass away" or "passing" is a polite and euphemistic way to talk about death when coping with grief from the loss of a family member, friend, or when helping someone cope with grief who has lost a family member or friend. It's very strange to use that term while giving specific details of a crime or mysterious death of someone you don't know. It is also very strange to use that term when talking about a violent death. When using these terms in these contexts they come off as jarring, flippant and even comical. I understand that that is not the intention, but it is true. It also hurts the credibility of the video when the video is supposed to be giving precise facts. "Cause of passing" is not an actual term but a strange hybridization of a clinical term and a euphemistic one. This has a very strange effect. I would urge anyone who is making videos like this to avoid using terms like "pass away" or "passing" when referring to deaths that are being discussed from a facts-based point of view.

what ive learned reading about these things in the last 30 yrs is that, there are things that appear to people, some have seen things appear from nowhere and are able to make contact with the persons, now what ever it is is not from here, it comes pick up people of all ages then dissapears. There are things out there that we cant see, but they are there, i believe several ways people are being taken. you wont find them..

i had a friend who simply sat on a rock ledge that surely many have sat on before, because it wasn't far from a public road, and because while on the ledge the beautiful panorama of entire nearby mountainous region could be seen. But, on the day my friend sat on the ledge it suddenly collapsed and he fell several 100 feet to his immediate demise.

I think Natalie Christopher accidentally slipped and fell into the ravine, while running on the slippery, rain-damaged trail. I think she survived her initial fall, but her cell phone didn't work because she was in a ravine, so she attempted to climb back up by herself. Sadly, a large rock, being loosened by the recent rain, gave way when she gripped it, and she plunged back down the cliff, with the large rock landing on top of her, killing her. Her cell phone's battery eventually ran out.
Searchers didn't see her at first, due to the tree and the rock obscuring her body.
Very sad.

Actually these cases involve BOTH ends of the intellectual spectrum, not so much those in between.
Just don't light up any rooms with your smile and you're golden my friend.
Re Natalie: firstly, a 13ft cliff, or even a 20ft one, isn't particularly intimidating to somebody who's fit and experienced in outdoor activities. Maybe she dropped something into the ravine (her phone?) and thought it would be easy enough to climb down and retrieve it, without realising the rocks were unstable. If I were in that situation, I'd certainly at least consider climbing down. Secondly, if rocks were lying on top of her body, that would make it even more difficult to see her. And lastly, just because somebody's found under a pile of rocks at the bottom of a ravine, doesn't automatically mean that it was the fall that killed them, hence the "cause: unclear" reports. It wouldn't have been at all obvious to investigators whether she'd been killedby the fall and/or the rocks, or whether she'd been killed in some other way and then dumped there to make it look like an accident.
The first one reminds me of a case where a scientist dissappeared from a research station on Antarctica. They only found his footprints in the snow which abrubtly stopped in the middle of nowhere.

Dr Christopher .. If she was out for a run, did maybe some rocks come loose and fall on her? Lots of rain u said so it's possible. Rock slides are a hazard. And if she was going slow maybe she was unable to move fast enough or just unaware of the rocks when they fell off. That would make more sense I think than her trying to climb without equipment

Some of these cases are redundant. Not sure if you're aware of this? The 1st case is also found in 2 other videos in your channel.
Notice how in a lot of these cases the victims seemed to be mind-controlled. If you read Steph Young’s book The Smiley Faced Killers you’ll see there’s a pattern of people going places they wouldn’t go and acting completely out of character. Look at Henry McCabe. What the hell was he doing out there?

A decent number of young men have been going missing in my area. They later turn up in the river but it’s debated how it happens. I guess it could be a mental illness thing or drinking but I really don’t know... Edit: just look at Dakota James, his family doesn’t even believe the “official story” bc it makes no sense

Something awful happened to the woman that died on Cyprus. I don't know why exactly, but my gut instinct with this case is that she didn't end up where and how she did, because she randomly decided to abandon her run, and climb without any prior experience or gear. There's just not enough evidence, or information shared with the public, at least, to make any possible cause stand apart from the rest.
If she climbed up to get away from an animal then when she fell down it would have nibbled at her. An animal not finding a way down to eat her is likely, as is someone chasing her above or below then abandoning after seeing her fall.
