Fighting games are an incredibly complex genre with a long history behind its progress and evolution. To understand how this development took place, we wanted to make a video series where we trace the steps the genre took through the ages.

I know there are lots of games that could have been mentioned here as ground-breaking to the genera, but surprised to not hear a mention of Karateka. I'm a huge fighting game fan and that was the first real plan your attack type of fighting game I can think of.

Very good point! We were focussed on games with player vs player elements, so we overlooked Karateka due it having single-player only.

Hope you're looking forward to the next part! The 90s are so densely packed with amazing fighting games, so there's a lot to go over.
Personally, what would be your favourite era of fighting games?

Arena fighting games would work for Star Wars especially after the hero modes in battlefront 2017

You mentioned Platform fighters, but in my opinion, all fighting game styles are subgenres.
    Let me explain:
Pre SF2, there were fighting games, yet there was no "Traditional Fighting Game" as we know now. In other words, in a sea of general Fighting Games, tradition became a pillar of it. Sort of like how the "Mario Franchise" has multiple series within it that are all "Mario"
