    1 Extra tip for power bait or other dough baits: After forming them onto your hook, dip them in water a couple of times and pull them out letting them drip for a few seconds. This will bond the bait to your hook before your initial cast. If you are a power caster like me, 😏, the bait flies off occasionally, during flight. This will completely stop that!

    Love it. Here are some additional tips. #1. Dont be afraid to go with a lighter leader if you see heavy pressure or clear water. #2. Clear conditions means to downsize. Not just your leader but your bait and hook as well. Many days i find myself fishing 4# floro with a #10 bait hook and a small enought bait to barely cover the hook. # 3. When fishing float bait. Sometimes it can be beneficial to shape ( i like a flatfish shape) and a smaller weight so it gets out but drops and flutters to the bottom. That same shape will allow a slow retrieve in which will trigger a bite as it wobbles in.

    • @erikarnesen6052
      @erikarnesen6052 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's two years later so perhaps you figured it out by now, but the key to fishing with spinners and lures in general is to move around and cast methodically. Cover an area like he showed in the video, and also change depths + speed + tempo on your lures. What I like to imagine when fishing is to present the lures to the fish in different ways to figure out what they're after. Slow day of feeding? Slower pace and speed, maybe switch up to see what's taking. Chasing hard and hunting? Going higher speeds and fishing really aggressive is key.

    Jordan: I am new to fishing and you are truly an inspiration and a wealth of knowledge. Just one suggestion: some of us are not quite familiar with all the fishing terminology so when you mention what I would call a "fishing term" (i.e.: rig, crawlers, jig, spinner, swivel, etc., etc.) or when you are providing technical details (i.e. weight, length, etc., etc) either show what you are referring to or explain. Some of us are so new to this great and fun sport that we may misinterpret or just plain do not know what it is. Outside of that, I love this video and have subscribed to get educated. I am in California and heading out for trout fishing next week in the Eastern Sierra Nevada where there are many lakes for trout fishing. II am not sure where you are located but, if you can, please provide tips on salt water fishing. Thank you for the useful information you provided. You are a natural at this. Keep it up!! Regards,

    Jordan - really appreciate your vid. I grew up spin fishing for trout in northern NY and your techniques are spot on (especially watching the # of plips on the water to know whether or not your bait went flying off). But please, I implore ya, don't suggest using/ use CORN. Corn kernels, for a fish, are all but indigestible. Same goes for humans - unless chewed up, they'll come out exactly as they went in - and fish don't chew. They swallow whole, and particularly for trout and smaller fish, those corn kernels take up valuable space in their stomachs and will not pass cleanly through their skinny digestive tracts. Simply put, corn = fish mortality. Either it fills the stomach with what may as well be wood chips leaving no room for actual food (annelids, aquatic insects, amphibians, etc.) and starving those full-bellied fish, or the kernel will lodge in the fish's intestines and cause a fatal rupture. There's a good reason it's illegal to even possess corn in many fisheries.

      @@chocolatized Don't know how you've tried cooking your trout, but if you want an extra idea, coat the meat in lemon pepper seasoning, and fry the fillet skin side down in butter until the flesh is cooked through. Should be tender, while also giving you a nice crispy skin. Also there are really easy methods to remove the pin bones if they bother you, Redcastle Outdoors here on YT has one of the best videos on how to do that.

    Catching Trout 101 : 1. Light line in light muted colour. 2. Reel with a good drag set light .3. Lures : Gold or Silver tends to be consistent in most conditions generally: the shiny the better 4. Rod needs to cast well with distance and accuracy both; not too short either !5. Wear drab camo clothing and stay low when near water edge. No bright sweaters etc.6. Ideally some deepwater areas near edge except night when they go in the shallows a bit more . Especially good is big over hanging trees and brush ....fly fishing can be practised and picked up in a short time .... better in summer when bugs are about in a hatch situation ...better out of a boat if beginner sometimes .... these tips offer success most of the time ....

    Just started fishing this year. Been out 5 times now without so much as a nibble, don’t get me wrong I’m still having fun relaxing and getting out of town so I love it but I definitely need to start doing some more homework on how to get one of these little guys into my boat. Today I was using a spinner and I could literally see like 25-30 fish surrounding my lure but none were biting. I could watch them chase up to it then turn off. After talking to the local sheriff at the dock he told me to try a much smaller treble hook and use a shore weight on the line and some power bait on the treble hook to let it float just off the bottom. Gonna give that a shot as well as watch some more of your videos and see if I can’t find a technique that works for me.

    Bait includes, but is not restricted to: corn, cheese, marshmallows, meat, maggots, meal worms, earthworms, wax worms, gammarus shrimp, leeches, terrestrial insects, the larvae, pupae or adults of aquatic insects (e.g., stonefly, mayfly, caddis fly), bait fish, parts of fish, fish eggs, scented baits, power baits and all additives that scent or flavour artificial baits and lures.

    Thank you for your post. Much appreciated. However, I don't use the bell sinkers for anything but the bottom of a leader for a Walleye/Pickerel rig for weight at the bottom. I prefer to use the bullet/cone shaped sinkers for the slip and slide technique. Just throwing it out there...Lol. Subbed and liked dude! Blessings from Ontario Canada!
    Edit: Plus, the hanging bell sinker gets snagged much easier. The bullet being more cone shaped, can slip through stones and rock structures and minimize the chance.

    I catch a lot of trout just caught a 21 inch pa;amino, I use live minnows, I catch the limit about every time, or green trout power bait and wax worms., all you need is a number 6 snelled hook and a number 3 split shot on your ultra light and hang on.

    That’s good ol Horse Shit (Shoe) Lake hahaha I knew I recognized that bank. Good to see someone in the same area and I appreciate the tips, just pulled out my limit of 5 this morning from that same spot.
    I hope I run into you one day out here because I’ll for sure come greet and shake your hand in thanks for the lessons. 👍🏻

    Great tutorial first off .. have a question , how long is the leader line of flourrocarbon that’s tied to you main line ? And is there a snap swivel attached to the spoon?

    • @luisvargas1520
      @luisvargas1520 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s depending on how deep you are fishing so you gotta kinda trouble shoot it. As for the swivel, you can use one or do a blood knot to your braid

    Can you do a video on good beginner rods to start off with or if we should just invest on higher end rods or reels
