    Tip # 11 Trout in hatcheries are typically kept in 3 to 6 foot water depths , the fish are used to seeing the bottom as they swim around and in my experience for the 1st week they stay fairly close to shore , I had several trips where I out fished everyone by casting 10 feet off the shore line instead of huking it out into the depths .
    Fish in 3 to 6 feet of water 1 to 2 weeks after them get dumped into the lake .

      If the powerbait doesn't work try Marshmellows
      Also I bring 3 set ups
      1. Bobber 2ft deep
      2. Slip bobber 6-9ft deep
      3. Bottom (as deep as it goes)
      I bring Powerbait Dough & Floating eggs with Mashmellows on standby :)
      Hope this helps

    Hermens Outdoor,i`ve learned so much by this video,that i have some lures,and powerbaits just like you. I tried them,but they didn`t work. Hopefully,the live bait i have,will. I fish in a simi big lake,that has trout,cats,bass,bluegills,and carp.

      Thanks for the watch Gary! Big lakes can be challenging. Keep using different baits to find the pattern and the trout!

    I went to a fishing place that charged by the inch of any trout you caught. Trout would bite on a bait less hook.

    • @WillyFish
      @WillyFish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Does that place exist? A not bait challenge and hook only would be awesome!

    What should i do on a stocked lake after the ice melts?

    • @WillyFish
      @WillyFish  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would fish grubs, minnows, worms, jigs, and any bait that's a subtle presentation. The water is still going to be cold and the fish will still be in a winter pattern, so very slow moving baits, smaller presentations will be best. Hope that helps Jon!

    Catching stock trout before they start eating natural food is terrible here in Michigan the meats still whitei guess catch and release would be fun.

    Just use power bait on a #16 treble hook on a 12 inch leader

    If you are that desperate to catch trout why not just get a net and scoop them out of the truck? Better yet learn how to fish for them the right way dont rely on the easy way.

      True … but my nearest real wildlife stream with natural fish is like 150 miles away lol … the nearest park with man made lakes is 4-8 miles away . we don’t have a choice when we have the itch to fish .

    stay active. if the fish aren't biting, change the bait color. if they still aren't biting, change your leader length. only after all that do i change my location. I will fish one spot for no more than 15 minutes, though, if there's no bite. get your routine down and be thorough. If there are any peninsulas, fish from there. Make sure your spinner is spinning. you should be able to feel it vibrate as you reel. If you don't feel it spinning, check it in the water in front of you. Change up your scent from time to time. Those stocked trout love garlic. Pay attention to your hook color. Sounds crazy but i switched from red to brass during a trip and the bite stopped, immediately. Went back to red and started catching again. When you're out there in the morning, as the sun rises, listen and watch. just after sunrise, things will get active with birds and bugs chirping and buzzing. It will last about 15 minutes and that is the window you are looking for. Keep your shadow off the water, if possible. Don't worry about being vocally too loud...but do stay out of the water, if possible, unless you are casting far from where you stand. If you are fishing a stream or small river, cast upstream and let your lure go with the river. those lazy trout are waiting for dinner.

    Nothing but great useful information and tips here, most definitely 100% guaranteed that they will come in handy and there's no question about that.
    Now supposedly the Pennsylvania fish and game commission had started to stock The Creeks, the streams, lakes and even the canals. I'm so pumped and excited and I cannot wait. The first day of trout fishing season opener is going to be awesome.

    Your videos are always very informative keep them coming I have a question what power dough would you use the most corn or cheese and why

    • @WillyFish
      @WillyFish  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Michael! Appreciate the support! I would go with corn for stocked trout for this reason: the hatcheries feed the trout a corn based pellet / food, so they are use to the scent of corn when they are growing up before being stocked. So 100% I would fish corn, especially in places you know are full of stocked trout! Cheese does catch trout, but I would start and go with corn 1st! I hope the info helps! Tight lines!

    But I fish (and hunt) for meat
    And its the little guys (11-13 inch) that taste the best...by far
