Thanks for advice. My son's JD battery went out and I upgraded to a DeWalt 20v battery and now we got a drifter. Tomorrow I'll put the bike tires to avoid much drifting in an uphill trail.
You will not regret it. Those are the two best upgrades you could do on a power wheel. Its been almost 2years now since I added the bike tires and dewalt 20v battery. Still going strong!! Thanks for the comment!
Hi Marco, that stainless bead was certainly a challenge. Wanted to find a tool that was common. Turned out the tin snips did the trick. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The way it spins like that protects the motor honestly but cool anyway cause these motors are less than 20$ and so easy to change I like the drill conversions
Thank again. Ive had the tires on this power wheel for over a year now. And that boy drives like a crazy man. Im still waiting for one of the motors to burn up. I dont understand whats holding them together😄
The things we do for our kids and grandkids. I got rid of the original 12v battery and went with the 20v dewalt. I have a bunch of them. Wow, what a difference! Very easy mod! Ill do a video on it. Thanks for watching!
I never thought of a dremel. And I have 2 of them😄. You know you have too many tools, when you forget you own them. Thats probably the best way to cut it!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Not with the 26" x 2.125" tires I used. 26" is the over all diameter of the tire. The peg perego gator tire measures about 15" diameter. And I dont know of a 30" bike tire out on the market. So I think your stuck buying 2 tires of any size. I will say thay after almost two years of using the bike tires, the gator still runs amazing. I did upgrade the battery from the stock 12v to the dewalt 20v. Absolutely a game changer.
Thats a good question! I dont see why not. Im not sure of the longevity of the tape though. We have 12,000 sq ft of blacktop driveway. And I was concerned that the heads of the screws might scratch up the driveway. But the screwheads never touch the blacktop. Once the tires are screwed on, they create an arch around the power wheel tires. And since the screws are on the edges of the tires, they dont make contact with the roadway. They work really well, without harming the driveway.
Im sorry for the late reply. Just saw it in my comments. Our grandson was so frustrated getting stuck all the time. And our property is very hilly. This was a major game changer!!! He loves it. Thanks for watching and commenting
If you ever look at the gears the motors are mounted to, theyre plastic. They also have play built into them so they dont strip. The plastic wheels allow spin so its not loading the gears as much. In this instance its a detriment but as long as its still 12v it should last a good while. Doing any mods like 20V drill setups could wear them a lot quicker
That was my concern also. But I went ahead and hooked up my 20v dewalt batteries last fall, along with a voltage regulator and a overdischarge protection module. So far the only things that broke were the regulator and the protection module😄. Now I just run the battery straight to the motors. So far, so good. We will see what breaks next!! Makes for fun content!
Haha, the grandson says it limits his "drifting". Actually, he drives that thing all over our hilly property with no problems. You should see what he does with the 20v dewalt upgrade😄. He is faster than my john deere gt225. Crazy!!
Are you speaking Portuguese? Are you in the USA? I apologize for not responding in your language. The power wheel cars we buy here in the USA are all 12v. But they are still very slow. Especially if you have hilly property. I have upgraded my grandsons car to a 20v battery. I did not change the motors. So far, the motors have held up just fine. And the added speed is very impressive. Im going to do a video, showing how I upgraded the battery. It should be good. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I thought about using friction tape, but I wanted something a little more durable. My grandkids are pretty brutal on that thing. We have an old Dune Racer power wheel that the motors were toast. Just ordered new motors and metal gears for it. Ill do a video of the rebuild, and see how it turns out!! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!!
I was being pressured by a 4 year old to get it done!! And I wasnt thinking straight😄. Ill remember that when he asks me to do the front tires. He was so happy when I finished the mod! And thats all that mattered!😉. Thanks for watching and commenting.
There are two mods I would highly recommend for any power wheel. Both are game changers! First, adding the bike tires to the rear tires. And second, getting rid of the factory 12v battery, and replace it with an 18v or 20v battery. Its been 10 months since I added the tires, and they are holding up great. Huge improvement on traction. We live out in the country, and the property is VERY hilly. Lots of gravel and grass areas! And even with the 12v battery, the car just goes anywhere the grandson wants to go. Until the battery dies. Usually in less than 10 min. I have a bunch of dewalt 20v batteries. From 3ah to 6ah. And he can ride as long as he wants on 2 of them. I started out using the voltage controller and the voltage disconnect. But they just weren't durable. Our property just put too much load on them, and they would stop working. So I just run the dewalts by themselves. I make sure that he doesnt run them dead though. Been working fine! I have a video coming out soon, showing what I did. Let me know how the tire mod works for you. Good luck!
Great idea!!! I had no clue that the tire bead would be that hard to cut. But the end result is definitely worth it. Have you done the 18v or 20v battery upgrade yet? What a game changer!!
Hi Edward. Never even noticed. Caulk it up to grandpa error. But the tire mod really made a big improvement, whatever the slope or road surface was. But he was a little bummed out he cant drift anymore😀. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Love that this made him smile good grandpa
Its all about keeping the grandkids happy!!

Excellent video, tnxs for sharing.
How many bike tires did you need for the 4 wheels?
Thanks, it made my grandsons day!!
Just 2. I only put them on the rear drive tires. Didnt need them on the front.
Thanks for watching, and good luck!
Great video, I liked the dos and don’ts on what worked to cut the tire

Thanks! Tires on order! Nice job.

Indeed! He’s almost 3 and loves riding the big Gator at our ranch. No hills here in central Texas but lots of land for him to explore. Thanks again!😊
Great memories your making!!!
Love Texas! It would be nice if part of our land was flat😄.
Have a great holiday season.
I use a Dremel with a cutter wheel to cut the bead.
I never thought of a dremel. And I have 2 of them😄. You know you have too many tools, when you forget you own them. Thats probably the best way to cut it!!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Would you be able to do 2 wheels with 1 bike tire?
Not with the 26" x 2.125" tires I used. 26" is the over all diameter of the tire. The peg perego gator tire measures about 15" diameter. And I dont know of a 30" bike tire out on the market.

Question for you… would grip tape work just as good? I’m looking for a solution we drive mainly on black top
Thats a good question!
I dont see why not. Im not sure of the longevity of the tape though. We have 12,000 sq ft of blacktop driveway. And I was concerned that the heads of the screws might scratch up the driveway. I was excited for my grandkids to enjoy there rzr... then the thing was no go slipping ... this is great havk

nah use masking tape to size rubber and dont use screws that protrude
Haha. I love the hack!!
Brilliant! Now the real question: why are ride ons still using plastic tires?!
Haha, thats a great question!.
For our property, those plastic tires just dont work.
Thanks for watching.

Fun video. Should’ve done the same to the front tires
Haha, the grandson says it limits his "drifting".

You should just create one that is for powerwheels that fits like a glove
I see the front end not grabbing to well into the turn. Might have to do a retread on the front too. Looks D.O.T certified to me! 😊 happy retirement.
The grandson likes how it still drifts on the corners. We didnt want it too safe. It no fun then😄
Thanks for the great comment!👍

26 inch long and wide 3 inch
I have used grip tape cheap and easy, however that works to

Once you had the length necessary, you could have cut the other tube that length too.
Thanks for the video 👍🏻 1-30-2024 🇺🇸

Size plz
The bike tires are 26"x 2.125".
Should be big enough for any power wheel type tire!! Good luck and have fun!!
Onde posso comprar essas borrachas?
Purchased the tires on Amazon!
Bought the cheapest 26" bike tire they had.
How have they held up?

What I did is just screwed it down to a board and use the sawzall blade and literally 2 seconds 3 seconds done

how do you not put in any videos of him starting from a stop after you do the modification… 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
