No worries about the camera thing. The joy on your face as you pulled those last prints... wow! This is why we make art because sometimes true magic happens. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful ideas with us.
I taped a 18" x 24" sheet of rigid plastic from a poster frame (used to protect the art) and I taped down that plastic sheet to my counter, placed the gel plates, and then outlined the plates with masking tape to use for registration. The gelli plates stay put and I use the plastic sheet over and over.
Yolanda! This is a great suggestion, and very clever way to use items you already have. I use plexiglass for all my mid-sized plates, but had not thought of a good way to mount severaal of the smaller ones at once. I'll give it a try 🥰
Viewing your old videos as I lay in hospital makes me want to get out of here so much quicker! Reviewing is helpful to create more ideas. Thanks Jackie!
Beautiful pulls. I love the red with graphite!! All were great. And yes the pink would be beautiful in a journal or a background for a card. Love it all! Thanks for sharing your talent. ☮️❤️
What a wonderful time with you in your studio Jackie. I love the pulls you made and agree, that the most subtle three are! ready for framing! XO Britta
I understand the happiness found in those subtle prints. I often feel the same when i am just cleaning the plate off with a light colour and lift something like that. So glad you had a great day creating. 🥰
Uuuuuuuh, the Titan Buff graphite powder ones are really so pretty 🤩!! They will surely look so beautiful with black frames! Being open for experiments is always best and will often lead to stunning discoveries and exciting results to make your heart sing 💗! Aloha from Berlin ❤🧡💛💚💜
As part of your faithful fan club, may I say great job. Love your expressions when you’re thrilled with results. Isn’t it funny how we forget the great KISS Theory until we get that gentle guidance and then we love those results the best? Listening to your inner voice seems to be something you do well. ❤
OMGosh Diana, you are so right, it's so easy to make things complicated when "simple" will do. I'm happy you enjoyed this one, and always happy to have you here. 🥰
Fun day with the gell plates 😊 All the prints are absolutely gorgeous! I ordered the exam paper and it will be fun to play when it gets here. Now I’m thinking of graphite powder, I love the cool effects it does and your prints came out really cool. Don’t worry about the video, technology doesn’t always cooperate.
Amen Fran! Today was not my day with technology - I sent an email out to my community and it had the wrong link for today's video 🙄 I think graphite powder would be a gorgeous addition to your beautiful journal pages. 🥰
Jackie … how fun!! I think the pink was probably my least favorite (but I’m not a pink person). The whole process was wonderful … and I love how you taped things down! It is such a joy to watch you … thank you so much!!
Marie, I agree - the pink were my least favorite, but I would have been able to create the others without it. That's what I love most about gel printing - it's so exciting when you pull a print and discover something so unexpected. 🥰
Hi Jackie … it’s actually sue … the one you were so wonderful to with your helpful encouraging comments! I will keep watching and keep playing … you have helped me so much and I am very grateful!
Thank you, April. I really loved the contrast of the iron oxide against the creamy titan buff, and gritty graphite powder. I could make prints like that all day long. 😍
I absolutely LOVE the prints you pulled using the graphite powder, especially the 3 titan buff prints in the end! I agree with you, the subtlety of those is so beautiful! They remind me of the backgrounds of some old Japanese block prints my mother bought in Tokyo? They are simply gorgeous! And how much fun to have 12- 6" gel plates, wowza!! xoxoxo
@@PaintedPaperStudio Sounds like that's going to take some special camera skills, huh?!? I know absolutely nothing about filming videos, so I'm unable to offer one iota of advice here, sorry! : )))
Jackie, I didn’t think it possible to have a favourite pull after watching all your videos but I do now 😍 The buff titanium with the hint of graphite are absolutely gorgeous 😍 I mean, each pull on this video are beautiful but the subtlety of the BT are stunning and most definitely frame worthy as they are. Quick question, does the grip mesh for the gel plates leave an imprint on the base of the plate? Do you use just one side of your gel plate? I’ve also been gifted some craft crepe paper and wondered if you have used this at all in your art? Sorry to bombard you with so many questions but you are truly inspiring and love your channel 😍🤗😍🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you Andrea, and I love seeing you here each week! To answer about the grip mesh - it does not leave an imprint. It's quite soft and I only keep the plate on it while I'm using it. I do use both sides of my plates😀. You know, I never have worked with crepe paper - if you use it, please tell me what you think. 🥰
Another fun day with gel plates. I love numbers, too, and am going out to our barn for an old license plate! BTW, I read on the gel arts directions on my 6” plate and it says not to lay the plate on a textured surface because it will pick up the texture and keep it permanently. And now I need to order graphite powder… or scrape the lead off a pencil.
Jo - my heart fluttered when I read "old license plate." That is going to be so fun to print with, and wait until you start using graphite powder 😍. Yes, best practice is to not lay a gel plate on a textured surface, but I have never had that problem using the soft mesh liner. It could be because I don't leave it on the mesh when I'm done. Thank you very much for watching 🥰
I don't see a link to the silicone numbers... is it an ice cube tray?. Thanks for being so light-hearted about painting... it makes it less threatening!
Just wanted to say, it's always kind of a relief to get to your channel after being elsewhere as your narration over the top is such a direct and concise way to let peeps know the info, it works so well, definitely a great way to do art videos rather than talking while doing the demo. Your set up is working 10 outa 10, just thut I'd say! Mind U some tutors have got their chat while doing their demo, down pat, and it works well, but just wanted to say how polished yourchannel is looking Jackie! I'm a new subscriber and you've become a fav for.me lol!! Great work as always btw!!
A tip, DONT put texture material under the gel plate, is going to dent your plates (or mark). Put a piece of acrylic, a little bit bigger than the plate,, it will stay without move. Also you can lift it and pick the other side or even align it, putting* the sheet on the table and the gel plate over (as a stamp)). I’ll be more than glad to give you more tips if you need.
Hi ArtCurious, thank you for watching. I only use the mesh fabric to hold the gel plates in place for short periods of time, while I am working. When I'm done, I clean then and put them back in their original packaging. So far I have never had a problem with dents or marks. Using the gel plate as a stamp is an interesting idea. Thank you for shraing! 🥰
Hello, great work - may I asking what kind of paper do you use for this work ? And what’s the name of the round object you using to pull the paper smooth over the gel press? Thank you for you answer 😊🙏
Hi Ole - thank you so much for watching. The round object is called a "barren," and it's wonderful in helping the paper make really good contact with the paper. The paper I am using is Rice Paper (Hosho), teabag paper, and medical exam paper (the kind a doctor would put on the exam table.) I hope this helps. 🥰
Hi Jan, I'm so happy you're here! I'm not sure yet with these exact papers, but I put together a playlist of videos I made where I use a lot of the painted papers I make. Here's the link 🥰 th-cam.com/video/ol6OC-c6RU4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kt3-QdH_6hi4v8su
Love this❤ tell me. Are smaller gel plates better to use? I’m thinking of getting a larger one, 12 x 14 in order to cover more space. Less work. But are my thoughts going to cause more problems? Please advise us! Thank you❤
Hi Patty - this is such a great question - I might have to create a video about it 😍 If you have never used a gel plate I would recommend starting with a mid-sized gel plate. Large gel plates and small gel plates have their challenges. Learning how to use a gel (or get the best from it) has its challenges, too. My very first gel plate was 8x10. I used it exclusively for about 6 months and fell more in love with (and learned so much about the process) that I decided it was time for me to start creating larger - so I got the 16x20 plate. 😂😂😂 Boy, was THAT a learning curve. So was the 6x6 plate - the first time I used the baby plate, it flew across the room when I pulled my first print. All of this is to say that each size has it's challenges and rewards. The best plate size for you will depend on how much space you have (for the plate and your prints), and how much patience you'll have with yourself. I hope this helps, and be sure to let me know what size you decide on. 🥰
@@PaintedPaperStudio Thank you so much for your response. I appreciate all that you related to me. Given that I don't have much space perhaps I should start small. Like 5 x7. Thank you for mentioning the size issue. It made up my mind for me! Thanks again!
