Maestro Grieg knew perfectly symphonic orchestra with his all colours and combinations, beginning from strings and ending with brass and percussioni. He developed and orchestrated these dances wonderfully ❤️
Which is why we come on Bartje Bartmans channel to discover these gems. I notice its played by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, one of many quality regional orchestras. Nice music.
I’ve loved the second dance for over 4 decades and only recently found out what it was thanks to classic fm. Would love an easy piano version to have a go at playing 😊
The orchestra I am part of would have performed this in spring 2020 if not for the pandemic. Such beautiful music, it is a shame we were unable to perform it. I love the intensity of the beginning of the 4th movement!
After all my years of involvement with classical music, I can't ever recall hearing this piece before. How exciting to hear a new piece by Grief, who always does it for me. ::sigh:: Gorgeous!

So excited to hear my daughter perform this piece (first chair oboe) with her college orchestra next month! Absolutely beautiful piece of music.

So beautiful! This work is really a "hidden" gem, and the no.2 is just mesmerizing!
A great discovery! Wonderful music, strange that it is so little known. Thank you for including the score!

Some of the harmonies seem very modern and forward looking. I wish orchestras would perform this more in the concert hall.

I think I will spend all my life on your channel! Huge huge Thanks for your upload ! Big Love Bartje Bartmans !
Very similar indeed! I found Dvorak and Greig together and were the soundtrack to a lot of my teens.

We’re preforming this piece and we’re not taking that repeat, so I’m leaving this time stamp here so I can skip it more easily 😆
