  • In this video, Philadelphia Orchestra member, Richard Amoroso gives by line instruction on bow technique. Pulling the bow with relaxed weight is a skill that really gives the violinist the best opportunity to play with a big sound without forcing and pressing! In this video, Richard explains how to add relaxed weight without using muscular pressure.

Leaning into the First Finger... first thing I'll do tomorrow.
I did kind of turning my arm inside to get more pressure on the Tip on down bow. With the leaning motion it should sound much better. Thank you so much, this is very helpful to me 🤗

I watch Christian Li and i could not comprehend why his shoulder was higher than his forearm. But now the mechanics of the bow arm per your demo make sense. In contrast i believed mistakenly that the floating sensation of the bow arm was persistent throughout and that one pronates and supinates only. Then i lost the shock absorber action of the fingers. I knew it was wrong but reached a dead end. Thank you.

The bow is like a wind intrument how it moves on the string and by holding the bow it should almost feels like it slipping out of your hands that's how gently
