      Why is the disclaimer stating that the Conan stories are meant for a mature audience? - No they're not!
      I was reading Conan stories when I was 12/13 years old! Loved every one of them!
      If I choose mature literature, it would be Tolstoy, Wilbur Smith, Tom Sharpe or even Philip K Dick! Definitely not good old Bobby! Good as he is as a teller of tales, this ain't mature reading!

    This is an absolutely marvelous tellng of this wonderful tale! It is whole and unabridged. The narration is wonderful, very in keeping with the tone and language of the story, easy to listen to. The very best audio of this REH story.

    Howard's first completed Conan story. Great introduction (even though it's out of order. It took the paperbacks reprints to released them in chronological order)
    Again, loved the accent you give the characters.

      @@angelsegarra1908 True. They were written out of order in Howard's submissions to Weird Tales magazines. When they got reprinted in the paperbacks they were printed in chronological order.
      I think Howard's explanation was Conan was like an old soldier recounting his life. Talking to those kind of people in real life they sometimes tell their tales out of order.

    Finally a legit narration. So many bad narrations of this out there. This style fits. Rough graveling voice with proper spacing. Well done. Sick of narrators making Conan stories sound like poorly done broadway plays, overdramatized.

    This is fantastic! Too bad none of the Barsoom books are on the public access because Burroughs would be great with this narrator! Of course, I dont know if you would even care to read those- a Conan fan is never necessarily also a John Carter fan. I think Conan has a slightly more complex character than John Carter though they are birds of a feather, I think Carter has more humility and willingness to give others part of the glory while both he and Conan rarely lose, sometimes its Conan's lack of humility that makes me root for just a little of it to be pounded into him...by a worthy foe of course!
    I fear to think who I would've become without the bounteous worlds, inspiring adventures and old-fashioned chivalric concepts I learned as a kid reading Burroughs and Anthony, Brooks, Tolkien of course, Le Guin, McCaffrey. I never discovered Conan til the movie -i think it was actually Destroyer too and I never even saw the first one for a long time! and by then my novel reading days were over in favor of full-blown stumbling through real life. Killer job on these anyway!

    • @TheCybrarian
      @TheCybrarian  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have looked into Burroughs before. The public domain on it is subjective by country, but the other issue is that they are usually novel length. We've put thought into novel length stories, like Hour of the Dragon, but we may consider a Kickstart or Patreon to work on a project that size.

    Was that supposed to be the God Thoth that Conan was Interacting with? If so, its more than a little weird that he would had been the one battling Set whom
    by the sounds of it is Robert's version of Apep/Jurmengarde witch fits the Black Snake coiling around the world description quite a ways better. You'd
    think it would've been Horus as the Ancient Conan bumps into! 'I Strove with Set by Fire and Steel' is an amazing phrase though. (Better than Gods of Egypt Movie.)
